Robbie was a better Lyricist, he wrote light my fire and Touch me 2 of their 3 most successful songs as well as the music. Jim added some interesting poetry into song lyrics but that's about as far as it went, he was never taken seriously in poetry circles

I get why people visit his gravesite, but, unless I 100% knew he was there, I wouldn't ever go. After all the documentaries I have watched and all the things people closest to him have said, I just am one of the ones who absolutely believe, that he faked his death and is very much alive. I remember thinking that it is an awfully short grave for his stature and then I seen his band members on a documentary and they said the same thing. Everything about Jim's supposed death, just will NEVER ADD UP or make sense, especially WHY absolutely no one got any proof of Jim being deceased and you would think his family would certainly want that proof and no one bothered...never exhumed the casket. Who in their right mind would NOT WANT ABSOLUTE PROOF?

I think all of the attention, drugs, finally came to fruition for Jim. His father didn't understand him. When he never was around it really affected him. People will finally just give into what they want. He was very intelligent. Handsome. He had a very adaptive voice. Started at home. He was shy. But he did have a unique voice. Love the first album Light my Fire, Break On, Hello, I love you. Second Album Love Street, Touch me. I really loved LA Woman. Riders on the Storm. Jim Morrison changed the face of rock n roll. I also became fond of the Doors' music when I saw the movie... I was 15 years old. From there I collected everything about The Doors and Jim, and once I did I have to say that Morrison was someone infinitely more interesting and great than what Oliver Stone shows in the movie. Val Kilmer plays an extraordinary role but Jim is not represented adequately, there are too many fabrications and half-truths in the film... It only shows the Jim Morrison kamikaze drunk and drug addicted all the time, those who knew him intimately have a very different image. It's obvious that Jim was self-destructive but he was also a truly brilliant, generous scholar... That part of his personality doesn't appear in the movie because it doesn't sell, but that was also the truth.

Vomiting blood is from alcohol. My paternal grandfather, my father, and my oldest brother (he was vomiting blood), all died from Cirrhosis. And one of my nephews (my oldest brother's son), is well on his way to the same demise. It's a devastating drug to the drinker, the drinker's family, and the drinkers' friends, and if they don't want help for themselves, then this is the outcome. So sad.

So sorry to hear this, it is sad and it definitely runs in the family! My grandfather died of Cirrhosis also. He was always nice/ mean and abusive. Drank more after his son died from a car crash. I was sexually abused by him at 4 yrs if not before. So him passing was a blessing for me and others in a way. I come to realize that he hated himself and him (excuse me for putting these two in comparison to another) like Jim Morrison was highly intelligent, high functioning though not intellectual. My Dad, brother and I have all had problems with alcohol and could very easily went down that road. Fear of not properly taking care of my children is the only thing that saved me before I even took it home. Most aren't that lucky. It's a bad medicine!

One thing that's very misleading, yet they do it on every Doors Biopic...the bathtub scene! There's a video circulating on KZbin that has this guy visiting all the places important to the last days of Jim. He even goes to the Paris flat Jim called home those last few weeks. It IS NOT like they always show it on these programs. For one thing: it's very cramped, not spacious at all. But most importantly, the bathtub is a regular, plain old tub you'd see in anyone's house. It is not a stand-alone big ornate tub with plenty of room to stretch out in. Just a regular old tub. Was actually shocked when I saw the real deal, especially after having a visual of it all these years after watching the Oliver Stone/Val Kilmer movie! But I guess it comes across as much more romantic the way they design the set! Very irritating once you see the actual tub where he passed!

I saw Janis Joplin’s last 24 hours right before this one. This one was just truely bone chilling to my core. His final 24 hours was filled with so much darkness and mystery especially towards the end. The sad thing is that he could’ve probably either still been with us today or would’ve at least lived longer if he’d gone to get medical attention earlier instead of continuing to party til the end. Jim Morrison was such a dark, mystical, powerful, and beautiful voice of his generation and I personally consider the doors to be a timeless band but Jim was a poet to his core. I feel like that’s why the “rock star” life and image didn’t agree with him well at all. Sadly the spotlight slowly poisoned this man and all we have left now are the memories and the recordings of his voice. Truely beautiful and haunting…. ✌️🤟🤘

@@mikeodonnell6799 I honestly think so too. Especially if you listen to old interviews with him explaining what he thought the “future” music industry was gonna turn into. He basically predicted that music like (disco, electro/pop and techno music) was gonna be the music that future generations would listen to and dance to. And that prediction of the disco dance/electronica/techno music wave actually started only a few years after he died. So I definitely would agree that Jim and possibly The Doors “if they’d continued together” would’ve definitely taken part of that trend once it started. The man called it and he was truely ahead of his time👍

Those were wild times, no joke. I am a native San Franciscan, graduated from high school at the beginning of the Summer of Love - 1967. The "sex, drugs, and rock and roll" was a true statement. I visited his grave everytime I come to Paris. Always a lot of flowers from fans. Sad that many times people ( I think the locals) stole his head statue. Correct.. but that's not how it went down. Jim overdosed on heroin in the toilets at the Rock n Roll Circus. His friends found him there and carried him out of the side entrance and took him back to the house. He may have died before they even got him home. They put him in a cold bath to try and revive him and when that didn't work and they realised he was dead they got rid of all the evidence of heroin and made up a story that Pam then delivered to the Police. They were protecting themselves from prosecution as the suppliers of the drugs. Makes more sense now, doesn't it.

I was friends with Lonnie Mack, a fantastic musician in his own right and at one time an A&R man for Electra records. He hung out with Jim occasionally and was convinced that Jim was self destructive. He'd get wasted drunk and start street fights with people who he knew were dangerous and would probably beat him up badly. Lonnie was a big rough country boy from Indiana and Jim assumed that Mack would have his back, which he did several times until it got old. Lonnie said Jim was hell bent to destroy himself with substances or with violence so he stopped going out with him but remained his friend til he got sick of California altogether and moved back to Indiana

If you were there AT THAT TIME, he did project through his music a dark vibe, tone threaded through it. However the later 60s got darker musically as the anti War movement and the Civil Rights struggles got more serious. You could hear many rock or popular artists at that time put messaging in their music...cuz a lot was going on. Psychedelia was also going on as well. His music came across unique and often felt dark...but we liked him for being different and he reflected the times.

The guy was not mentally stable at all my bruh this is why his often ridiculed as a poet he was mentally not well and his writing showed this. He sung about Vietnam and how bad it was not for political reasons, not because he cared about people but simply to rebel against his father, he did not give a crap about the war he only cared about pissing off his father who was highly involved in the war... People don't seem to understand that Jim Morrison as always been painted as a dark brooding individual because he was lol. He estranged HIMSELF from his family then asked for help for is musical endeavor from his parents in the form of money they refused because he estranged himself but still had the ignorance to ask for money, you are estranged m8 they have zero need to support you then he still holds the grudge, his parents literally showed him tuf love he powered through and made himself a man, showed how determined he was most people would be proud of themselves but he still kept the grudge why lol he is successful... He won at the end but still keeps the grudge... This is the text book example of a highly entitled individual who thinks the world ows him something that his parents and loved ones are supposed to support him even in his alcohol induced periods of chaos... I got the Doors Greatest Hits on dvd. I moved to Upstate New York in the mid 1980’s and those songs kept me grounded while living there for 4 years. Then it was time for me to head back to my home in Southern California. I still love hearing those hits. He would have been my own age now but unlike me, he will be remembered, researched to find clues a motive or some reason why? . I guess we all need closure for this man that so many of us wanted to be . So many of us loved him then, so many of us love him now. I sometimes wonder if Jim Morrison could ever rest in peace? I was lucky to have seen the Doors live and in concert, at the University of Michigan, in Oct.,1967,at the Intramural bldg. It was the greatest concert in the world, right there, in front of a handful of people...just 15 feet away. After the band left, we were so mesmerized that we "woke up ",literally, 20 minutes later. That was a concert! Wow.

Jim Morrison and the Doors are still one of my all time favorites but he chose his lifestyle and no excuses by others to that lifestyle will be accepted by me. One comment at the start of this video, "he was crying out for help but nobody knew what to do" was absurd. A more appropriate would be, "he was crying out for help but we all kept taking advantage of him" The Jim Morrison fame and money were beneficial to all of those around him and they knew it to be. Of course, Jim's unique style and song content but also the different sound that the Doors band had was a big seller to me. Jim died of a heroin overdose. It is that sad and simple. People try to find complex answers to simple event that involve famous people. Jim got away with it for many years. He was only 27, at that age death is something very far away. Jim talked about how people his age would live well past 100 due to advances in science. The drug dealer was the infamous Count Jean De Breteuil who was the boyfriend of Marianne Faithfull at that time. She stated in 2014 that it was indeed Jean‘s heroin that had killed Jim. So both left Paris within hours after Jim‘s death. The heroin was reportedly very pure and strong. Considering Jim‘s already critical physical condition, it was inevitably fatal. Until her own heroin overdose three years later, Pam had kept on telling her friends like Danny Sugarman that it was her heroin that had killed Jim.

Yes Jim was the face of The DOORS but he believed in togheterness we are the doors, I adore his mindset and know that you need your fellow bandmembers to make things work. Ive been there too thats why they were called the doors. The doors is the only band that had a hypnotic climax in just the music without the drugs. LA Woman is a masterpiece; Jim was totally professional in writing and recording it. The success of LA Woman blows up the narrative that Jim was little beyond an incapacitated drunk by this time. 2) This account of his final hours is sheer speculation. Not denying that Jim was an alcoholic, however.
