I am withholding judgement on Sister Brambilla. Even though some religious communities are flourishing and growing, overall, they are struggling and aging out. This is a major problem for the Church and for the world because these orders do a lot of the heavy lifting when it comes to caring for people in the most impoverished countries. Overwhelmingly, its religious sisters who are the ones in the trenches. Yes, religious men are there too working just as hard, but they are much fewer in number because of the shortage of priests. We need to rebuild our religious orders and I think it's time to try a different approach. Since her background is in psychology, this could make her effective in shaping policies to help re-frame how people think about consecrated religious life.

Are they emptying out worldwide? The West is a mess, yes, but I am seeing full religious communities in places like the Philippines and Indonesia. No visibility of Africa, mind.

Well said Michael. Having followed this in the Episcopal Church back in the mid 2000s. It was the same stuff “ radical hospitality” “ listening sessions”. And it’s simply the start of the slide to irrelevance. The episcopal church today has emptied out. Church’s are closing. Hope we Catholics hold the line on truth and not follow that same path.

Michael, if you're cynical like me, you'll connect the dots a different way. If a Cardinal can persuade people to believe that definitive teachings of the Church can be reversed, then you just rendered the Catholic faith irrelevant, then you just destroyed the Church, which is the enemy's end game for centuries. Remember Bella Dodd? Conspiracy theories aren't that far fetched any more. I hope and pray that I'm wrong, dead wrong!

I don’t think you’re wrong….except for destroying the Church. We know that will not happen. However I could see the confusion of it appearing to be. Women should not be in charge of the Church. I’m not sure what God will do…but…He’s going to do something. Chastisements are imminent! They’re coming! God will not be mocked or defeated. Get deeper in your prayer life…because it’s coming

Seems that certain priests and bishops forgot that they answer for every soul they loose because of their teaching and behaviour underneath them. Also allowing a person with mortal sin to receive the Eucharist knowing that the person is in nonrepentant mortal sin profaines the Eucharist and is equivalent to drinking poison for the soul to the person receiving the Eucharist, so it will not help them it will make it worse for them.

You cannot proface the Eucharist because the Eucharist is Christ
@bartholomewonisk544723 сағат бұрын
@MarieCassidy-zd8sc Profaning the Eucharist is considered one of the most serious offenses in the Catholic Church. According to Canon Law, profaning the Eucharist is treated as a grave abuse and can be considered a crime against the Church. Canon 1367 of the Code of Canon Law states that anyone who violates the Eucharist by profaning it incurs an automatic excommunication. This includes actions such as desecrating the consecrated bread and wine, or using them in a sacrilegious manner. Profanation of the Eucharist can take various forms, including but not limited to: Handling the consecrated elements in a disrespectful manner. Using the Eucharist for non-sacramental purposes. Exposing the Eucharist to public desecration or mockery. Consuming the Eucharist unworthily, which is considered a grave sin if done with full knowledge and consent while in a state of mortal sin.
@bartholomewonisk544722 сағат бұрын
To profane the Eucharist means to treat it with irreverence, abuse, or contempt, which is considered a serious offense in Christian theology. According to the Catholic Church, receiving the Eucharist while obstinately promoting actions contrary to the moral law, such as abortion, is seen as a form of profaning the sacrament. This is because it involves using the Holy Eucharist for political purposes, presenting oneself as a devout Catholic while openly defying Church teachings. In a broader context, profaning the Eucharist can also refer to any act that shows disrespect or fails to honor the sacred nature of the sacrament. For example, the term “profane” in religious use refers to a lack of respect for things held to be sacred, implying anything inspiring or deserving of reverence. Therefore, profaning the Eucharist means failing to recognize its spiritual and divine importance, treating it as a common or secular object rather than a holy sacrament.

Difficult to see how this will work as a Prefect. She will be heavily restricted when she visits locations around the world, particularly by not being able to celebrate Mass and preach to groups of people. Instead, she will be limited to giving talks!

Don't like Francis. But this is not the first female leader. I point you to Miriam Deborah 😅 The fact is there were female deacons prophets and apostles But you know what wasn't continued into new testament. Priests. We all of us who believe are a temple and priest. That includes women The office of church is two elder and deacon. Pual says flames female deacons and female apostles Junia and phoebe. The fact is when the catholic church around nice started restricting women that's what was unbiblical. I find it amazing that the offices are as follows in order of importance. Apostle. Prophet Elder Deacon. Pual says this. He even said I wish you all could be prophets. Prophets are above elders. 😅 Junia was a prophet. Anna in Solomons temple Prophet And many other women In n.t. Pual says that a prophets words were of more value than eldership or being a deacon. Yet we're to believe women can't teach. Give me a break. If a women is a Prophet and is speaking a prophecy what is happening She's teaching.😅😂

@reasonandtheology um considering the vid says this is the first female vatican leader. ??😅 And my point was to show that the whole hierarchy they have is not biblical. There trying to copy the levite priests. Were all priests in n.t. Moreover Within bible Deborah and Miriam and others are leaders. So I wad being sarcastic. If Francis thinks he made history He didn't Lol.

Why she is s nun who conducted herself with dignity. Everybody has no problems praising Pope Francis when he does things that suits certain people's agendas and then if he deviates from what the Masses want, like or approve of then he gets shot at from every direction. Jesus got the same treatment on earth. He is meant to be guided by the Holy Spirit when he takes such decisions.

I just hope she is best choice. On first glance this seems like political decision in line with feminism, and lots of people will feel this like attack on patriarchy/familiy etc. I wish in this situations they talk more why is somebody best choice, not focus to much on politics.. Same with LGBT & Washington, is this a best choice? Or political message?
@r.a.panimefan2109Күн бұрын
Not every instance of womens empowerment is feminism Besides this isn't historical at all. Prior to the council of nice. There were women leaders 😅in the catacombs. Underneath vatican there is 1800 year old images of women in teaching poses 😅 And if we're talking biblically I point you to Miriam (moses sister) She was a leader in exodus. 😅 Deborah kinda led all of isreal. Women subjugation isn't wat was biblicalin first place So. There's that. Besides in n.t. we're all priests. The catholic concept of priesthood is unbiblical.band is trying to copy the levites

Yes, but Christs' teachings and living by the Gospels will lead to Salvation . Too many people outside the Catholic church have too many opinions on what is going on inside the Catholic church, perhaps they are better, stay clear, and focus on their own religion then. Stick to your own churches, then if they disagree with how OURS is ran
