I had one yesterday… the spices were really nice. The chicken did have a bit of a tough texture at the surface, and i think that is because, even though it is not heavily battered, it IS fried. And tbh i didn’t even mind the texture. It might be the novelty of it, but I might even like it more than the original.

I've been getting the five piece blackened tenders ever since Popeye's started offering them...they are always hot, moist and juicy, because they don't cook them until they're ordered and it takes 3-4 minutes extra to get them, but well worth the wait, to me...those blackened tenders paired with their blackened ranch dip is my favorite fast food meal! I wouldn't want a bun getting in the way of that! I think they should offer the blackened ranch dip in a bit thicker sauce for those who want this sandwich, instead of mayo only...just sayin'! I'm sure if the blackened fillet in this sandwich has been cooked awhile, like on the ride home, it would probably lose some of the moisture and get tough...

@TheReportOfTheWeek - you might want to give this another try. I'm a very picky eater and the sandwich I had today was absolutely perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned. It was done, but very tender. The pickles and roll were in harmony. Popeye's is so inconsistent, I'm sure it varies by location and time of day. I went right at lunch rush.

In 2020 they took away the select breakfast items that used to be sold all day and you could only get them during breakfast. The bagels have been gone for a long while and I don’t think they are coming back here. In the 618. I would have to correct you Reviewbrah, on the origins of the “spicy chicken sandwich” craze. Popeyes didn’t start the craze, they just jumped on the bandwagon that was started by the “Nashville Hot Chicken” sandwich movement initially started by Prince’s Hot Chicken in Nashville TN. Here in California, the premiere “Nashville Hot Chicken” sandwich shop is Howlin’ Ray’s. They may have a Hattie B’s out your way. Check them out and review their chicken sandwiches. They are another popular chain of Nashville Hot Chicken sandwiches.

Hey Reviewbrah. Might I make a suggestion of obtaining the test food from 2 different locations and testing both in every review. This way, there will be less uncertainly regarding any possible one-off problems. Sometimes we all get a bad batch of our favorite food. I haven't tried the Popeyes blackened sandwich yet, but I certainly will. Less bread should make it easier to digest, but I'm disappointed that your sample had a jerky, tough texture. I hope they all not that way. Thank you for the review.

Surprisingly to at least me, I never found Popeye chicken rubbery and actually have it my top fried chicken chain I've ever had. Popeyes does lean towards a very thick chicken paddy, maybe to thick.....Great review

It almost sounds like Woody chicken breast. I keep finding it in grocery store packs or occasionally in fast food sandwiches. It's the meat, it's somehow rubbery and crunchy and a little slime all at the same time. There are articles about it being an industry problem resulting from breeding bigger and bigger chicken tiddys.

So I was looking im the supermarket you have to add the Frank's to your list like Nathan's Frank's those are the real stuff just boil them the stores place them on a grill conaprebit to the famous Sabres hot dogs used to be the main stay and thenknockqorst were the Frank's I meant they are 10 bucks for a package 📦 of 4 the areas of NYC that don't have hot dogs stands had a Nathan's or a KFC or some other establishment wetsons was the first inn my area but Nathan's was a biggie and is probably the 1st one in USA 🇺🇸 in coney Island wen I was a kid in 1977 a hamburger was $1 there

I just had this and maybe it was just my Popeyes which admittedly pretty much sucks but the chicken was tiny! Didn't cover the whole bun, was dry as a hard dog turd and had ZERO toppings or sauce. God. How do some Popeyes survive with the incompetent employees they have. Anyway review brah, great as always!

I was on postmates last week planning on getting just a regular chicken sandwich from good ol popeyes and I saw this and decided to get it instead, Thankfully Reviewbrah just got an unfortunate cut of chicken because mine was perfectly edible, my only complaint was that it was very salty, now that could just be because of the pickles but it is quite a savory sandwich, hope this helps anyone decide if they want to pick themselves up one of these sandwiches.
