I Purchased a $1200 Star Wars Action Figure And Toy Collection

I purchased a large Star Wars toy and Action figure collection just a few days ago, just in time for Star Wars day. See which toys and action figures are in the collection. How much I paid for everything, what I am keeping for my own Star Wars collection and which items I am selling in my store.
Tons Vintage Star Wars figures, Star Wars vehicles, some Lego Star Wars, some Star Wars Micro Machines and tons more.

I think the dolls I got in this collection were the 1990s ones not the vintage originals. The 1990s ones are only $20-$30 in the box I believe unless they have jumped in value the past few months like so many things.

Despite the devaluation of opening new figures, I can't help it when I buy a new figure I want to ceremonially remove it from the carton and place it with my box collection, ever since I found out the punch hole can also deter the price. I keep my figures as mint condition as out of box can get. If I get a black series figure I try to squeeze 2 out, one for the personal collection and one to keep in mint

Honestly a ton of people end up selling a collection for a fraction of the value when they sell because they do not have the time to sell one item at a time on ebay etc. So because of that unless you are a professional vendor who sells items regularly you probably get more value opening them up and enjoying them then you would get trying to sell them down the road in mint condition. I too buy 2 at a time when I can so I can open one if I want and keep one to enjoy mint in the box. I like it both ways.

Love that you explain the pricing cost vs. retail. It's easy to see retailers such as yourself as mercenary but lifting the veil you come off as really fair

I kinda like to keep it open and honest with pricing mostly because it makes it easier when I buy from folks since they already kinda know what I offer and I try to be as fair as I can. Sometimes I feel like I am paying too little because of how much I love some of the stuff but at the same time I need to make sure there is enough room on items so I can pay the cost of operating the store etc. Its all a balancing act, but in the end if I am happy, the seller is happy and the people buying from my shop are happy then I know the prices are right.

The 1990s ships and vehicles were mostly remolds of the original ones and you can get them for a pretty cheap price.

I was able to pick up a millennium falcon, x wing, tie fighter,land speeder, at-st, and approximately 45 figures with weapons (all the 90’s hasbro toy remakes) for 125.00 on eBay a year ago. My eight year old loves them, and some of the remake ships are better than the originals

The problem with the 1990s Orange Card, Green Card, Freeze Frame, etc. up to 1999's new movies of action figures ... And thank God I only have one real set seeing that they were precursors of today's better action figures was keeping the total collection mint on card (and I have them all except variations I never found but had to pay someone else to sell me anyways)! I don't know what you'd value (like 32 different Orange Card 1995s, like 35 Green Card Holograms 1996s, all 52 and none missing Freeze Frames 1997s) all on cards untouched and no missing weapons! I boxed them up around the year 2000 taking them off my wall hangers so the cards wouldn't weather! Hanging them with pins and all laid out on a wall looks neat like all your displays of POPS!

Yeah its pretty common for any carded figure to become warped over time unless you put them in special holders. I tend to only pay $2-$3 a figure for almost everything from that era. It is a really over produced era so there is not much modern value to them. I am sure there are a few gems in the series worth something but the vast majority is kinda low.

On the basic vintage figures the weapons are where the money is, Stormtrooper blasters go for around £15 on their own, convert that into current dollar rates. Also beware of reproduction weapons being passed off as original, it has caught many collectors out. Mint Jedi Luke with all weapons £70+, prices for good figures with weapons has risen a lot, not so much for modern figures.

I have noticed some of my figures feel like they have a sticky substance on them...is that what you meant by a "tacky feel"...how do you get rid of that

Some plastics with age start to degrade and separate a little so that is the figure breaking down. You can wash thew with soap and water and they will clean up really nice. I just do not know how to stop the degrading process so in time they will be tacky again.

Thanks...crazy thing is when they were in cardboard boxes in the garage they were fine...but I put them in plastic tubs and in an air conditioned space they start that sticky feel but not all of them do that...my 1979 Boba Fett doesn't feel like that and he is the oldest figure that I own

It was worth about $1200 retail and I think that is about what I got when it was all sold. Star Wars sells really easily in my shop.

Anything that I can sell in 1 month or less and double to triple my money I will buy all day long. Not sure what other items you are talking about but Star Wars is very much in demand in my shop. Most brand new merchandise that you buy from toy companies you only make 25-50% margin on so buying a collection and making 200-300% Margin is way better and how I run my business. And what is great is when you turn $400 into $1200 then you have more money to buy the next thing. I cannot afford to stop buying for my shop, I need to make an income to pay my bills etc. This was 2 days work and a $400 investment. Not sure what else would make $800 profit in 2 days work and a $400 investment but if you have some ideas let me know. When it comes to my business I am as fair as possible when buying paying 30-50% of the price I think I will sell it for and then price things to be near or under ebay prices so my customers get a decent price as well. This way everyone wins and on top of that I get to make a fun video for everyone else to watch. I hope all that makes sense.

I love Action Fleet vehicles and mini figures. I am not a fan of 1990s Star Wars figures in general, they are pretty poor looking but the Action Fleet of the era are some of my all time favorite toys.

I say mass produced because they made 100s of thousands of each one and they are extremely easy to get in the US. For years I would buy a car trunk full of them almost on a monthly basis. I was drowning in them for a while but ever since Disney purchase Disney I cannot keep them in stock for very long.

You can de yellow vintage star wars loose figures like you leia by simply leaving it in hydrogen peroxide for a day or so. There are many useful youtube videos that go into more detail about this process!

I have heard about that as well, I have also heard that the plastic tends to re yellow after a few years and become more brittle each time so not 100% sure that I want to treat the plastic or not.

What you are describing is a flipper, someone who buys up all the new toys and tries to sell them for a profit. What I do is resell, I buy old toys that people no longer want in the form of buying their collection then I sell those toys for reasonable prices which usually means I end up selling a ton of older toys to kids to play with. I love seeing looking kids buying older toys to play with and have fun with.

Yeah 1990s figures are so common, I usually pay $2-$3 for carded figures which is probably close to what people would get selling them on ebay in bulk etc. which is a very fair offer. Honestly that era of figures is not really collectible in terms of value but I think they are great if you want a cheap figure to display on your desk or if kids want to play with them etc. That is why I like to have them in the shop and they sell really well.

I think with a lot of the US toys they are so cheap here but once you add in shipping and vat charges your paying $20 US plus for a figure that is $2 in the us etc. I personally would love to buy a huge pile of Action Force Figures MOC from the UK cheap lol

you would never get anything in uk cause of the lack of toy shops now … its all online which is a joke , then excuse the rant but you see people in us pick them up like water its frustrating and very annoying too , not to show disrespect but even for figures now for the current movies it seems Disney loves American or Canadian fans more..and believe me that really does piss the European fans and they make most of the films in uk … they really screw up the distribution in Europe as well it was months after we got any new product and yet more pegwarmers persist everywhere else for the last films and no one wants them , even the uk toys R us shut before America ...and fuck me they had better items than the uk ones yet Hasbro wouldn't get them here , half that united states hadn't sold would maybe sold here in uk ..cause it was new product... I think also those who sell in the united states should lower the prices of what they sell to help the collectors who want the figures get them in the collections with regards to europe, ive said many years not everything is available in uk or anywhere in Europe itself … we are finding it more difficult to find a outlet to get star wars ...its a hobby I started to have in collecting since the last what 41/42 years since seeing the very first ever movie in North London , now very few places will stock its more problematic , we dont have the same Hasbro as America does , in fact they wont even deal with your omplaints and believe me there is a lot that needs to be shaken up ..but I can talk bout its never been that great at all since what 1998-99 and every time a new star wars comes out same old story ..very little coming ..its both very sad and pathetic to be a collector at the moment ...

You can (and should!) complete the figures. repro weapon sets are affordable and bring the value up quite a bit. I also refurbished most of my vintage Figures. Get a set of acrylic colors! You're gonnya have to invest some time... but with a little talent You can make the figures look (almost) Mint again! ;)

I usually want until I find a minty mint figure for my collection and I collect the weapons when I find them. I usually sell off the rest for people people who want to repair etc.
