Paxton doesn't know it yet, but after a perilous and painful start in life, he has just won the lottery. He has landed in Prairie Dog Heaven! You guys are the best.....two rescued PDs living the best life possible thanks to your kind hearts. ❤❤❤❤❤. Edit addition.....just thinking logically. Poppy is used to being Queen of her domain which is why (I think) she has never accepted another Prairie Dog. But Paxton is obviously (even to her) at a disadvantage. He is no threat....in her eyes.....to her place in the hierarchy of her little pack. I think she will accept him because he is weaker and older. I hope so. Paxton deserves the very best and Poppy has a huge role to play in that. 🙏🤞

I have a kitty whose front leg was garroted clean off at the shoulder somehow before I found her (during a flash flood. An inauspicious beginning!) After treating her for the infection, she’s bounded back like a trooper and there’s no doubt he will soon be happily running around with Poppy. He’ll get used to hopping a little, just like my kitty and she’s even faster than my older cat. Paxton’s so lucky he found you - thank you for caring for him ❣️

I found a stray kitty like that one time too. Neighbors said they didn't know she was in the motor of their car & the fan chopped her arm off when they started it 😢. She was wild, so they couldn't catch her...but I did & nursed her back to health too. She did great, actually

In general, it's easier by far for the male to get fixed, because things are external. But since he's dealing with his recent surgery, the vet would know what's best. Im thinking it would probably only take a couple of seconds for a coupling and babies to occur. God bless you guys, whatever you do. We're all so grateful that you're caring for them. Thank goodness you guys took him!! He will get the live & care he needs & deserves. Sadly many people in the world get pets they don’t need & don’t take care of. It’s good you tell people prairie dogs are not easy to care for & most people should not get them. Please reiterate this message more often! I come across people all the time wanting to get a pet that is not a normal pet just because they saw one on social media. They do no research & if they get one the animal will suffer.
