Huggy is legitimately the first time I’ve seen a genuinely scary “plush toy/Sesame Street puppet but evil” done right. He’s not super gory but the way he moves, the shape of the mouth and the reflections on the plastic eyes is so freaky I love it. Not to mention he actually looks pretty good graphically speaking with his fur so that also helps.

You know what I just realized? If you watch Huggy fall after you escape him, and he hits the beams...he bleeds. Which means that he isn't a toy brought to life with science. Huggy is, or was, a living, breathing thing with blood going through it's veins. Question is, was Huggy created from living tissue and designed to look like the Huggy dolls? Or is Huggy something much more disturbing...as in he'd created by the bodies of workers who didn't follow the rules?

Actually, now that you mention it, I didn't really notice the blood coming out of Huggy, because it is too dark underneath the walkway thing. WAIT A MINUTE! When you said Huggy used to be human before he was experimented on, why the flip does that remind me of FNAF?! The "Scientist" was probably stuffing human remains inside the actual toy itself, then putting wires inside a plush to make it move!

@@quantumtabbylargo7457 I think there is another reason for this. Stella's tape shows her obsessed with the concept of regaining her youth and mortality. The scientist's tape shows that he is not scared even in the face of a gruesome death because "one breakthrough and he'll be back". It points to Playtime Co. experimenting on toys (and people) in order to bring dead people back to live and/or becoming immortal and finding ways to live forever. When you break a toy's head or limb off, is it dead? Gone forever? No, you fix it and it's as good as new! If they really want to make "living" toys, death becomes out of the question because you can always "fix" them and put them back together.

The most important trait about the infomercial VHS I noticed is the clip at the beginning with the founder introducing Poppy. That section looks like something to be shown to investors to convince them to fund the project with the advertisement, but not to be released to the public. That shows that whoever sent the letter would have access to old archives locked away in the facility.

There's that one line in the scientist's tape: "I'm not worried for myself... one breakthrough and I'll be back". As a couple of other commenters have pointed out, the company definitely seems to be experimenting with life and death, probably towards immortality and resurrection. But what gets me is that the scientist says it with absolute conviction... there's no doubt at all in his voice. It's not that he THINKS he might come back... in his mind, he KNOWS it, it's not just some far-flung theory to him. This says to me that the company's experiments may have had a lot more progress than we might think. It also implies that even though Huggy seems to have been killed at the end by that fall, well... death might not last all that long for him no matter how wrecked he might be after that fall, thanks to those immortality experiments. A bit of time, and he may come back just as strong as before. And probably angrier, what with the whole "knocked into the abyss" thing.

Stella's tape makes me wonder if one of the company's goals was eternal youth. I doubt she caused it but her interview could have sparked the possibility of the higher ups trying to fulfill that prospect via converting people into toys. Or combining the two in some way maybe?

Also, the note at the beginning says "We're still here", and the tape of Stella's interview had this emphasis on "going back to be young and playful"... maybe by being turned into a toy?

Theorieee! Huggie is a remnant of a human, okay okay let me explain. 1, In tape 6 either huggie or poppy escaped their captors from a scientific area, to escape they must have done planning of some kind. (Could have been either of them) 2, Huggie manipulates the player in the beginning by acting like it's not a threat while having malicious intent toward the player, he fetches us the key and acts like he had it the whole time. 3,When huggie chased us it knew how to corner the player into where he wanted us to go in the vents, this expresses his intelligence and knowledge about his surroundings. When they thought it cornered the player and failed it took a different route to not only find the player again but push us into more trouble. (The only reason we got away was because of the crate that it wasn't aware of.) 4, when huggie Is hit by the crate and he falls (13:20 to 13:21 *put speed on 0.25*) there is no blood on the ventilation shaft but when his head hits there is blood. There were no previous traces of blood on his head meaning it is his blood! He is incredibly intelligent and he is able to bleed making me believe he is either a mutant or maybe a person stuffed in a suit (fnaf reference maybe?) It could be anything intelligent enough to remember human movement patterns and thought processes and to know its surroundings and how to adapt. He isn't just an AI he's terrifying

I agree with your theory of huggie being a mutant of sorts. And the more we look at him, the more it shows, he drools, the blood you said, and saw, and the second row of teeth in his mouth and flesh substance around that row of teeth. I have a theory that huggie was created by pure accident, especially on his size, and then after he was made, they decided to keep him as some example of what shouldn’t happen on experiments. Also using his intelligence, huggie with the help of the other experiments, escaped, and killed many while setting others free. I also believe huggie wuggie is still alive, and may get help from other experiments to help heal him and back to full strength. While he did hit three of those shafts before falling down, and the Pitt he fell seems pretty deep, we don’t know how durable he is, or what exactly it takes to kill him. Also to cause that much chaos when he escaped without getting killed, I’m sure he’ll be al right

I always knew there was something suspicious. 3.I think Huggy has been dwelling in the abandoned factory, freely roaming around for more than a decade. I'm quite surprised he didn't free poppy from her glass chamber, this shows Huggy's fear towards the doll. 4. There is a creature under his suit. Or, Huggy is an actual creature himself. I just noticed something......Every time the character you play dies, you get a black screen with white text saying things to the character for example "don't let them inside get up", "death isn't permanent get up', etc. Yet one of those texts says "EXP 1006" Now, here's the thing...In the last tape you find, someone is talking about experimenting, specifically about Experiment 1006 which is a prototype that got lost. Also note how the character you play as, has never been referred to by a name.......Could it be, that we're playing as the lost experiment 1006?

I have a couple of theories. 1. The Make-A-Friend Machine is the center of all of this. It can create a toy all on it's own if you give it parts. We know very little about how it works (does it need a blueprint mainly), so it might have created Poppy when a girl got caught in the machine and used her to create the living doll. Playtime is clearly pretty corrupt, and gives me Aperture science vibes, so the higher ups would see this as a huge breakthrough instead of the horrific tragedy it was. "Poppy has the potential to be the highest selling toy in history!", they think to themselves. Using the tours, they would lure in more people to turn into their lifelike toys. Probably orphans for the most part. Once they were on track to recreating Poppy, they started looking into adding souls to other toys. Huggy Wuggy, being their best selling toy and mascot, was an obvious first choice. They likely intended to just make a Huggy Wuggy that could hug a child all on it's own. It was then the toys became violent. Playtime chose not to shut down the project, but instead take it in a different direction, creating a living security system essentially. Huggy wasn't able to be controlled, which resulted in a rampage that killed everyone involved with the experiments. 2. The reason Huggy is so strong is because he is 99% muscle. He seems to be inspired by those sock monkey things which were really floppy, so I bet he doesn't have a skeletal structure. It's just his felt "skin", muscle, a bit of bone scattered about to make the teeth, and his brain. 3. The disappeared staff have all been turned into toys by Poppy. She likely doesn't have the brute strength of Huggy, but that wouldn't stop a doll with the possibly psychic or demonic powers Poppy showed in the ending when she destroyed the lights. Using the Make-A-Friend Machine, she trapped everyone in the simple, weak, and easy to break toys scattered about (the boogie bots, dinosaur toys, and cat things) so she could show them what she feels in a toys body, before killing them for real. 4. There is one or more survivors hiding within the building. Someone had to send you the tape and letter at the beginning, and likely are luring all the ex employees that left before everything happened to the factory. Maybe it's a sacrifice to appease Poppy, or they believe you could do what they couldn't and destroy the horrible things Playtime has created. There is also the matter of all the tapes lying around giving you clues as to what's happening. I can see the Leith Pierre and Grab Pack tapes being found where they are, but I think the others were left there for you to find by someone. Why would the last tape be found in the middle of a catwalk?

To be honest, I thought the Make-A-Friend "this one machine makes EVERY SINGLE TOY by Playtime!!!" concept was a front. If you notice, it's more colorful and fun than the more industrial areas - and with the informational boards, this is supposed to be a place for visitors to come and look. I don't believe it. We can SEE that the toys already come disassembled and in pieces, the only thing the Make-A-Friend machine seems to do is paint, assemble and... "quality check" them? (The quality check thing is the most suspicious part, I feel it's at this time that a living being is forced into the toy.) As you said, it's likely that during these tours, they would kidnap people and/or children - the machine is just a handy distraction. The center machine's eyes also follow the player, I suspect it is some sort of surveillance system to detect children who wander off by themselves or get lost in the crowd and target them. Referring to the Huggy anatomy thing, if we follow the Huggy Wuggy = Experiment 1066 theory, Huggy presumably has a digestive tract that somehow functions. Somehow. I don't really want to know how. However, it is mentioned that Experiment 1066 is unique because it does not need to eat, unlike the rest of the experiments who do need to consume large amounts of sustenance. Huggy may also be partly electronic in nature, as they mention Experiment 1066 had to have their digestive tract "wired" together - like one of those soft floppy dolls which had wire skeletons to make them bend. To end with a smaller, personal theory of mine: It's possible that all the employees disappeared by being put into toys, BUT not everybody got slaughtered by Poppy and some managed to escape (since toys are small, can blend in very well in a toy factory and in the case of many of Playtime's toys, highly mobile). I think it has to do with the toy we put together in the Make-A-Friend machine, the cat-bee thing. Perhaps this toy hides the consciousness of a former employee or a scientist who regretted their actions - it got dismembered, but we put it back together again and brought it back to life. Also, the way it disappeared after being scanned is suspicious (because who makes a toy just for it to disappear? Yeesh). And what toy did we find in the starting area? This same cat bee. I speculate that this particular toy may be attempting to help us or at least put an end to Poppy, Huggy Wuggy and Playtime's nefarious deeds. But that's just a theory...

I really hope it does end up playing a bigger role than just that one puzzle. The plaza where huggy is had doors to a lot of rooms. There's a lot of the facility even on the top level we still haven't seen so I'm really hoping we get to explore much more of the factory

Somewhat similar to the bendy and the ink machine plot that we've seen earlier, Joey drew lures in customers into his studio to then turn them into Boris clones, Alice clones, and if the projects failed, all the poor souls would become lost ones. Similarly, The founder of playtime co. found a way to transfer souls of young people(children) into these dolls, as you notice in the 1st video tape, Polly claims herself as a "Real girl", hinting that playtime co. used real souls in the making. Bendy and the ink machine also features a few employees who know the TRUTH behind Joey drew studios. Similarly, the unknown scientist in tape #6 seems to know the truth and assist the founder in his evil work.

If you go to the game website, there’s a video that shows Poppy maintenance. One of the steps is blank and the scene cuts to someone using forceps to pull out something from the back of Poppy. The object is drenched in blood and sinew. My guess is all the toys are made from human parts. Like veins, organs, etc. That would explain why every toy has blood on it and why some toys seem to be aware. Like Huggy and Poppy.

Though still missing, today's events are no doubt in relation to him." Which to me, sounds like Huggy has friends, which he let out. We saw plenty of other characters on posters and painted on the walls in the factory. He's not performing that massacre himself but he orchestrated it or at least had a major part in releasing/convincing the other subjects to do it. I'm curious as to the people beneath them line, it could be related to a sense of superiority which he clearly had but part of me wondered just how deep that facility goes. Could it be literal as well? Experiments like that would likely require a great many subjects. You're not getting a Poppy or a Huggy each time, sometimes you're just left with...a mess. It's too early to speculate on how Huggy, the central star of this chapter and Poppy, the namesake of the game, relate to one another. He chases you towards her but it's curious as to just why Huggy, with those big hands, would not open Poppy's case himself if that was the goal. If he wanted to kill you surely it would've been easier to do so than to offer the key in the beginning. Maybe he's bored, maybe he wanted to play after the factory was quiet for so long. Hm, but one thing is for certain, this was a good one. I can only hope the devs take care with just how they weave their story, it's a let down when at the end of it all you're just left with handfuls of loose ends, y'know? (Edit: Related to the requiring many subjects bit, I am deeply concerned for those orphans.)

Bendy and the ink machine has a similar thing too. Here are two theories: 1.There possibly might be Huggy clones or clones of the new monstrosities waiting to be introduced in further chapters. The worst case scenarios are 'poppy clones'. They seemed to have sacrificed a real human, then fusing her soul into an inanimate object, in the end o the investor video poppy claims herself to be a real girl. That explains everything. 2.Or, they actually killed the orphans that they lured into the factory, used their parts and made Huggy-Wuggy and other toys; This explains why he bleeds when he hits the edge of the metal bridge(the bloodstains).

In the starting area, at the gift shop, all the toy boxes are empty including the Huggy Wuggy ones. Something tells me Huggy Wuggy's more toy-sized friends probably had something to do with it. I agree with you that Huggy Wuggy's actions seem contradictory - he's clearly more intelligent that anybody thought him capable of being, especially if he orchestrated the events that led to Playtime's demise. The most likely theory is that Huggy Wuggy IS working with Poppy, and the entire thing was a test. Will you notice he suddenly has the key when he didn't before? Will you see him stalking you throughout the factory? All these things add up to drive you towards Poppy, with Huggy Wuggy antagonizing you in order to test you - if you die, you fail, but if you survive you get... whatever they have in store for you. If Poppy is seeking humans for whatever evil reasons she has, she probably needs or wants one capable of solving the puzzles we solved and defending ourselves the way we did (either to have more "fun" with them when she "plays" with them as her toys or to possess and turn into a vessel for herself).

My theory is that Poppy Playtime is BATIM but with toys instead of cartoons. The scientist is fusing people or human souls into toys. In one of the teaser videos from the indie company making this game, there's a moment when someone takes out the pull string voice box from Poppy's back and it is bloody. You also see Huggy Wuggy leave blood stains on the pipes that he bangs into when he falls. Perhaps the initial idea was to bring toys to life, and Huggy Wuggy was the first test. Like ink bendy, he didn't have a soul hence the murderous intent. Then the scientist tried to fuse human souls to the living toys in order to keep them from going hostile. Remember Stella? It's obvious that she became a test subject due to her desire to be young and live forever. If you notice, the voice actress, Nola, voices Stella AND Poppy. HINT HINT.

He's more than a feral predator, he KNOWS what he's doing and he actively causes us terror so he can watch and observe.

When I saw the “Chapter 1” title at the end it gave me vibes from Bendy. Edit: I saw the part where Huggy wuggy was falling down into a abyss and falling on some pipes or something and bleeding on impact so that means that he can be killed. Probably by bullets but I would use a tank or a missile.

I'm hype for the next chapter to come out and see you play it. I didn't know that you had to play the tapes in their corresponding color VCRs when looking at other gameplays of this. This game doesn't really tell you what to do from what it seems but that can be good or bad depending on the player. :)

I just noticed the tapes' colours correspond to brand toys like Pierre's tape is blue while huggy is also blue and catbee is yellow while Rich's tape is yellow, Stella's is pink and so is Kissy missy... I think its a hint towards who was made into which monster

Theory: you are 1006. It states that you were an ex employee that was absent during the “breakout” but nothing states you are truly human. After all, if all the other employees failed why would they call you ALONE to save them as if you could make any difference? Also add the fact that 1006 not being present was a “critical flaw” and that them being unable to locate 1006 may explain why it took them so long to send 1 message to you. And why they trust you to successfully save them. (Not to mention when you die it says “exp 1006”)

I think rich Avery is actually huggy wuggy 1. Its kinda clear that poppy is actually stella due to the fact that she was obsessed with staying young forever 2. Rich was talking trash about the company, which might of made the company get upset at rich and turn him into a toy 3. He was with huggy wuggy boxes

Here’s the fun thing I realized. There are two Huggies, you see the one that chased you, fell with his full-sized exposed. Which is much shorter then the first one we saw. Second it would be neigh impossible for it to chase you down, there could’ve been a much quicker Huggy behind it, merely hiding in th eshadows. As the tall first Huggy was slow, if it was the Huggy we shall fall and die, then how come it didn’t just jump at us, as it was clearly fast. And well, it was heavily implied that there is more then one “experiment”.

You missed a key part of the last tape. Toward the end of the recording, the scientist say he's not worried about himself because "one breakthrough and I will be back". This seems very important given the context, as Huggy (or another experiment similar to him, but I would bet on Huggy) was about to break in the room where the scientist was.
