I agree about tithing. I actually confronted someone in my church who said you had to tithe, about the Levitical law for people who took receipts for tithe and claimed them on income tax. I said well then Leviticus says you must add a further fifth of the benefit you gave. He did not like that. I prefer to think of what I give when I give as stewardship.

Tithing predates the law bro. Gen 14:20, Gen 28:22, Heb 7:6. So much bad teaching around tithing. I pay tithes as an honor seed however that’s 2nd bucket issue

The difference is you chose to give a tithe vs. being forced to for your right standing in Christ or fellowship in a church. I tithe still myself, but because I choose to. Both those passages in Genesis were choices made to honor God, not commandments, which is my point. If it was required of him, then he was following a law, which we would in that case, not be under anyways. The New Testament does expect us to give, but from what we determine to give from a cheerful heart. If that's 10% of everything, praise God. If it's less or more, God is just as pleased.
