Thanks for watching! Be warmly invited to share your own thoughts on Techno genres, since this video can only cover a tiny amount of styles. If you want to use the samples you can download them for free but are warmly invited to consider donating: bit.ly/3Q4Hzug

Haha. That's the nice thing about KZbin, that long term content has its place. Glad you still found it, and thanks so much for the warm words 💚

Cool video.i always liked techno due to the drum patterns especially similar to the first ones you played

Thank you 💚 it's really fun to play them as a drummer, although 99% of the time it's made by a machine 😅

Man, this is subtle feel on a genres, my respect for such minimal approach, damn i like it. The only thing which i think was not so close to essense is synth in dub-tech which in general is saw based triad chord with a little bit of filter env. drowned in reverb, but it's a matter of taste, i like your synth too)

Thanks a lot for the warm comment 💚 it's really interesting for me how close I got to certain styles since I created the samples quite intuitively.

ok, the sounds and the longer melodic sounds are they all done on only the Nord? ... the machine beside you that you turn buttons on, what is that? and is that one making the sounds we here or are the sounds Only made by the Nord drum ? it seems like one need so many machines to make music well? the pedal on the floor with x the are lit up, what was that brand and model called? I was looking for it before but it said out of stock the whole Summer.... Now today I found someone having a Nord Drum for a lower price, second hand.. so gonna go check it out... but I like to buy all the things needed to make music this way you do with the longer and melodic sounds as well... What do I need to get? please help me out when ever you happen to have tine and if you can give us like a check list of things around the Nord Drum one might need to play ive and play loops and more melodic sounds, please let me know :) thanks from Sweden!

An excellent video and breakdown of techno that is approachable and really shows what can be done with minimal ingredients. Lovely work and compositions Jannis! I'll mirror someone else's comment above, I would love to see your take on breakbeat. I've been recently getting into acid-breakbeat/neuro-breaks and more progressive electronic music.

Great vid. Coming from a drumming background as well, I always felt kind of ''meh'' towards techno in terms of rhythm. I honestly prefer breakbeat based electronic music (drum & bass, jungle, break-core) but your vid definitely opens new perspectives. Thanks for that. Would love to see your take on drum & bass and affiliated genres though.

Thanks for sharing! I had similar emotions while making the video. I often realize that once you try adapting a style to however you're creating music, you find some deeper value in it. And yes, I intend to get into more styles :)

@@JannisLeWolff kzbin.info/www/bejne/m6ulgnSXrLl4d7s Check this out. I believe he uses a Nord Drum on this EP. (may be wrong but I think you can create similar sound textures using the ND)

Thanks for the video. As a former drummer starting to produce Techno the Nord Drum looks perfect as I could create my own sounds and play them with stickers and record. Sounds much more fun and groovy than drawing the notes in the DAW. Do you think it is worthy for creating drums and percussion for releasable techno tracks?

Hey! Glad you liked the video. I think you can totally produce great Techno sounds with the Nord Drum 3P. However, you're a bit limited in terms of filters, LFOs or modulation possibilities, so certain types of sounds are quite difficult to make. I think it works best in conjunction with a DAW like Ableton, where you can use the internal sound engine, sequence the Nord Drum via MIDI, create more complex patches inside the DAW while you can play them still with the Nord Drum as a Midi controller. Hope it makes sense :) Good luck for your project!

@@JannisLeWolff Sounds good, thanks! My idea is to use it more for percussive elements and to add a human touch to the groove since I have Ableton and Pigments for the rest as well.

Hello! saw I added my question on an old video and so I guess you might not see that comment so add another comment here as I just bought the Nord Drum now! Hurray to me ha ha ✌🎉 Been waiting to get this one for a long time.... yesterday I finally bought the NORDDUM 3p.. Found one second hand.... I am testing it now and I see in your video class video from 8 months ago that it says you use A 11... but my A 11 are echo drums like in a movie, long sounds of tom toms and a ping... the guy said he might have bought downloads from you... hmmm... I found it hard to get used to this Nord Drum and find what you show here online in your videos in my Nord Drum.... Also, can one control how sensitive the pads are and how big area of the pad that will generate a sound? many times when I hit a pd outside the middle it generate no sound at all, but sometimes it does in some kits... this is confusing to me! and also if I make some really fast drumming it seems like some sounds stop sounding if I beat the pad continuously too fast and does not catch the beats I do all of the time.... is this an installation issue or is it this bad that it cannot follow along to my speed of drumming and that I must beat exactly int e middle of the pad to get sounds on many kits? ... Ok, I do not want to complain as I waited to long to find one I felt I can afford and got this one for 425 euro while the stores here sell it for about 560 euro up to 780 euro.... and the guy said he hardly ever used it and is a music producer and only use the sounds but did not drum much at it as he did not know how to drum simply... I did drum several hours on it yesterday night to just get a feel as I just got it... but, now I want to seriously understand this machine and see if I can learn to play on it in a fun a great way... what videos of yours should I start with now?? do you have like a first video of where to start to learn everything the right way because I cannot make anything work on it right now, like the prolonged sounds, delay or reverb, nothing changes when I screw on those buttons, is constant the same kits the same way.... Guess I am kind of stupid or something coming form caustic drums and never had any digital instruments in my life face-blue-smiling So, really appreciate if you I can learn by you in a serious and chronological way to get from not knowing a squat of this until I can learn to run this as a pro! thanks from Sweden! ✌🎉

Hey! Great to hear that you finally got a Nord Drum! I can't respond to all those questions, this would require a 1 on 1 session or any other paid arrangement since it would take a lot of time, hope you understand that. I think you should take some time to explore the individual functions of the Nord Drum without thinking of any other gear at the moment. Here is a video where I explain all functions and knobs: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hJ-8l3yvn72tp6Msi=8oeJigBFQ8jjL-IG maybe it can help you further. Also this Sound Design video should help you navigate through the menu/workflow: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nnWqi3yXmNRokLcsi=NIkj5SPW9yGikciP All the best for you!
