Chad gives a short lesson on a technique known as flocking, that gives small drawers a special velvet finish on the inside. A great way to finish up that special project! For more I Can Do That, visit: www.popwood.com...

Great tip on using spray adhesive. It's a pain having to wait overnight, I'll try it on my next project. Thanks Chad.

You can always use regular transparent varnish, that works and sticks well. Heck, you can do even better and paint inside with the same color as the flocking stuff, do the flocking and you are guaranteed not to have any flaw on the visuals..

I have done flocking before and the results are very nice. I didn't realize, or think for that matter, of using spray adhesive to speed the process. I'll have to keep that tip in mind when I am pressed for time to finish a project. Really enjoy your work.

Thank you for teaching on how to do. Where does one purchase the suede material from?

Waneva Cook, try Rockler, Woodcraft, Amazon, your local craft store, hobby shops, etc.

I am pretty sure the 30 second mark hit as soon as he put the piece down after spraying the glue. I guess it is not actually 30 seconds?

How durable is this? For instance: Could I cover an amp rack in an automotive stereo install with flock instead of the usual carpet?

Mister Hat, while I'd trust flocking for jewelry, it's definitely prone to scrapes so I would'nt put use it in any application that's likely to see a lot of weight, rubbing or abrasion. Good thought, but it's less durable than that. Thanks!

Need to wear a mask

Not a terrible video, but you made one big mistake: never, ever flock a project without wearing a dust mask/respirator. You DO NOT want this stuff in your lungs, and trust me, it will get there. The suede particles are so fine that even if you can’t see them in the air, they are without question making their way into your nose & mouth. It’s a dangerous situation that’s very easy to avoid: just wear a mask while applying the flock.
