"Did you ever imagine the last thing that you hear as you're fading out, was a song?" - This line is perfect.

Amazing band live. All of their songs from their live show in Tilburg are brilliant, but would suggest Anesthetize. Gavin Harrison is a drum god. Steven Wilson is awesome as a guitarist, lyricist and producer. New prog at its best.

I traveled to see this tour in LA and was able to see the premiere of this DVD release with the band in attendance (minus Steven). A small theater in Hollywood....Unreal ❤

Hey John. Great Reaction and loved that you enjoined it so much. Always amazes me though that I dont think I have ever heard a reactor get what the song is about correct - it is about that moment of death. That moment when "all your designs suddenly become oh so simplified". "All of your life plans are compromised" = gone. "All of our dreams sacrificed". And then Steven asks that No. 1 question we all should be asking: then what? You will be: "arriving somewhere, but it wont be here......" For something a little more recent.... check out Harridan from Porcupine Trees latest album released just last year. Watch the In Session at Air Studios version if you can. Awesome

Hi John - really enjoyed your enthusiasm for PT. I am a long-time PT addict, and it always feels good to share another's genuine first-time reaction. Generally speaking, their live performances are as good as, and mostly better, than their studio productions, largely through Steven Wilson's brilliant musical arrangements, and the excellence of each player, all of them masters of their instrument. Suggest a few more titles to enjoy, most of which will be from the same Tilburg concert - What Happens Now, Fear of a Blank Planet, Start of Something Beautiful, Way Out of Here, Dark Matter, Hatesong. Some studio pieces of note are - Always Never ( Up the Downstair ), Halo ( Deadwing ), Mellotron Scratch ( Deadwing ), Remember Me Lover ( The Incident ), Strip the Soul ( In Absentia ). The more you hear, the more you will be in awe of their musical brilliance.

Someone else may have mentioned it, but I didn’t read through all the comments. Alex Lifeson actually did the leads on the album version of Anesthetize.

Man, amazing reaction. Glad you're liking them, I'll suggest The Start Of Something Beautiful (live as well) or Cheating The Polygraph (live too), but from their newest material (2022) I'll recommend you Harridan, Chimera's Wreck or Love In The Past Tense, whole different songs but still Porcupine Tree. And Gavin, man, he's a soulful composer and a hell of a drum player

PT wonderful! Styles like early Pink Floyd: Sky Moves Sideways (c. 1995); overall best album: In Absentia (c. 2003); many excellent other albums :) Overall, their best work are the live sets esp. those recorded at Tilburg

It's probably my favorite song from the band Porcupine Tree. Steven Wilson is a true creator. And I love the bass player. I learned bass guitar thirty years ago. My favorite bass player is John Entwistle (the Who) and I also admire Chris Squire (Yes), Geddy Lee (Rush) and this famous bassist present on this live. This title is a marvel. Thanks for analysis.

What do you think of Leland Sklar? Mark King? JPJ? The bassist in Tool? Just curious.

I just watched Leland Skarl. I know him through Phil Collins but I didn't know his name. This guy is already 76 years old and it's amazing what he's done. He is an extraordinary bass player.

@@jeanphilippebaye1713 I got hooked on his KZbin channel at the beginning of the pandemic where he started off showing the bass parts to the entire Phil Collins set from the last tour. He posted every day and helped get allot of us through that time. Met him several times since. Extraordinary bass player and just a wonderful human being.

Hi, I really have a deficiency to remember names. It is certain that the bassist of Level 42 is a bassist of high level, he is more than talented. And what about JPJ (John Paul Jones of Led Zep), nothing to complain about, it's rock classic. PS: I use a translator because I am too weak in English. @@helenespaulding7562
