Great video my friend. Can you remember if the fitment of the unit threw any PCM related DTC’s (diagnostic trouble codes)

Hands Down the best video on this as far as i'm concerned Thank you. I'm upgrading a Cayman with Bose and CDR-24 and its been invaluable. Couple of queries though, connecting to the MOST adaptor. Front or rear speakers? Anyone care to comment on the ariel booster wiring, wire colours? Otherwise, for anyone attempting this, know that you need to be very careful that the facia adaptor fits the head unit you're using and colour of interior. I ended up 3d printing one on the new car. Last time it slotted straight in without problem Finally behind the battery is a *big rubber grommet* this allows you to fit DAB and GPS antenna behind the scuttle -- completely out of sight in the 'frunk'

Connecting through the most sent the signal to the Bose amp which sent it both front and rear speakers.

Great video. Wish this was around when I did my kenwood install in my 997 a few years ago! One thing I realised, was my FM signal was very poor. After research, realised the cars antenna booster requires a switched 12v power which the original PCM supplied, but which was missing in the Connects2 wiring, so the antenna booster was no longer getting any power. Once I looped a switched 12v back into the loom for the antenna booster, signal improved again. Not sure if you may need to do the same if also getting weak FM signal, as Connects2 have missed out this wire in their adapter

Where have you been hiding, Ron? Used to see you at lots of meets, especially the R20 ones and the 911uk at the fairmile. Hope the car (and you) are running well? It always looks really good with the mods you’ve done.

hi, friend, Were you able to keep the steering wheel controls for the new radio? What are the cables? I can't save the steering wheel buttons to control the new pioneer radio.
@philscars6 ай бұрын
As far as I remember, my radio came with a cambia unit which meant you kept the steering wheel controls! It was many years back now!

What a brilliant video. It’s the best one I’ve seen so far on KZbin as you’ve take the time and effort to go through the connect2 wiring loom. Would you mind if I asked how you put the usb lead into the glove box? That’s what I need to do so I can mirror my iPhone rather than using Bluetooth for music and while I’m being a real pain how did you route the DAB aerial? Cheers. 👍

Thanks for the comment! It was a while age now, but if I remember correctly, when you have all the radio out, you can push a wire through into the glovebox area from in there, I also pushed the DAB aerial through the same way and then over to the A pillar and then up the windscreen, hope that helps.

Where did you get the MOST adapter from?

Thank you. The question I have is, when you change out the factory head unit don't you loose all the service controls and settings capability? What about all the controls though the steering column stalks? Thank you for sharing some of your insight.

Yea, you do lose all that but gain a proper entertainment and nav system!

Great video. Im currently installing a similar system in my 997. How did you get the GPS antenna thingo through Dash?
@philscars2 жыл бұрын
I came out the side and tucked the wire into the bottom of the windscreen!

Cheers. Thanks for that. I ended up going through the center speaker on and coming down that way.

Seems like Porsche has now released PCCM + for the 997.

Great vid, unfortunately (for me) you have missed out the bits I'm unclear on, i.e. the DAB aerial fitting, and any wiring additions needed (eg the aerial booster power). I fitted a MR12Volt Bluetooth but only because someone had done a guide which said exactly which wires needed tapping etc!!
@philscars3 жыл бұрын
Hi, the DAB aerial is just a stick-on the screen aerial that I bought from ebay that plugs directly into the back of the Kenwood unit, but, tbh, its rubbish and doesn't work very well, so a better aerial would be needed. if you trace the Porsche aerial wire, it goes to an aerial booster under the dashboard in the drivers side, you will probably need to use the switchable 12v power from the back of the new unit to power up the aerial booster, as it was powered from the PCM unit previously. Hope that helps.
