I’ve never seen a manufacturer go back to it’s previous sound. If only F1 could do this

Well for Porsche it only requires a different exhaust system. For formula 1 it requires the whole engine, drivetrain, chassis, basicly the whole car.
@JHFMW4 жыл бұрын
@@Kerbhunter_Alex mostly the rpm limits it right?
@orakelmason4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, to be precise the fuel flow limits it. The rev-limiter of the modern v6 hybrids is at 15k, but they usually upshift at around 12k, because revving higher is not necessary due to the fuel flow limit of 110kg/hour. But I agree, letting the modern turbo engines rev to 18k would bring a lot of the old noise back and would sound absolutely awesome.

@gen1c8rs884 жыл бұрын
A Turbo 2.0L inline-6 hybrid would be a good compromise. A inline-6 can sound simular to a V12. Also upping the fuel consumption to 120Kg/hr as planed for in 2021 will raise the rpm that's used to 15000rpm.

This were some unexpected camera angels for Monza - but very nice, too. And of course very nice description as always. It sounds really a bit like a GT3 R. But it is a shame, that there are sound restrictions for racecars. Even without them they get less loud anyway due to Turbos. So these few loud "NAs" dont deserve a restriction, in my opinion. I mean a concert for example has no sound restriction either, even it would be healthier for the spectators and better for the residents. But what ever, nothing we can do I suspect. I am so happy, that you still upload so many videos in your amazing quality even in this dificult year! Grazie mille bozzy :)
@19Bozzy924 жыл бұрын
You're welcome! Yeah I can't but agree with you for the sound restrictions... we'll see. Regarding the angles of Monza, yep those were necessary both because the track was theoretically closed to public for Covid rules and because grandstands were (and probably will always be) closed during test days. So I had to stay mainly behind the fences and on the numerous paths Monza's park offer around the track

You're welcome Jake! Yes, in person sounds quieter than the 2017, it's more similar to the GT3 R in terms of tone and pitch but yet louder than the R. Upshifts/downshifts sound and how the sound reverberate in the air when it's moving away still let you understand you're not hearing 'just' a GT3 R ;) Regarding the dB levels I read something under an Instagram post of a Porsche test driver a few months ago. They were saying the RSR-19 with side exhaust was louder than the RSR-17 with straight pipes by a few dB, while with this muffled exhaust layout the RSR-19 should be 10dB quieter. In any case, my ears can confirm the side-piped one was too noisy passing by XD
