Porsche 914 Brake Line, Master Cylinder and Pedal Cluster Install [Project Bumblebee Ep. 25]

The bumblebee gets some serious stopping power with a new master cylinder, all new "OEM green" lines and a rebuilt pressure regulator from PMB Performance. I used the OEM style master cylinder in this build, so you'll see how to install the supply line fittings into the grommets...and why the easy install version is probably best when replacing parts in a running car.
Remember, I'm a home garage mechanic (which is only a bit higher than "shade tree"). As always, and especially with brakes, if you DIY and aren't very familiar with brake systems, it's best to have a pro check your work.

Please add a video on how to mount and adjust the brake pedal switch which is located under the brake pedal. It is a real problem with the system which nobody explains. You are the man who can do that and make us all understand. Thanks

Great video Ian, did the job myself a couple of years ago and it is not difficult. Just have to be very carefull and/or get help when needed! The only thing I did different was that I inserted the rod from the brakepadle in the mastercylinder and then fitted the masterbrakecilinder on its placel. That way I didn't have to adjust the rod. Keep up the good work!

I use a flair wrench to help press the rubber grommet into the master cylinder.

I just painted the metal and lubed the parts. Also new pins. The retaining pins are often rusted into the bracket and require drilling or a lot of force to get out.

Brake proportioning valve? When I did new lines, I bent my own lines. I didn't know they had preformed lines. And PMB rebuilds that valve? Think I'll be contacting to get a new one/rebuilt. Thanks.

Yep. The "official" name per PMB is the pressure regulator. As I understand it, proportioning valves bias the pressure. This device acts as a "circuit breaker" to make sure the wheels don't lock up in a dangerous sequence. Thanks for watching. Please subscribe if you haven't already!

Why didn't you upgrade to the larger master cylinder?

I did. it's the 19mm ATE. Not much difference from stock
