My family owned a 924 from new in 1983. We kept it for 33 years. Sadly, the next owner neglected it and it was broken for parts. I look forward to seeing yours fully back on the road.

I love this series on your 924. It’s the Boxster of the 70’s: great to drive, not that fast, looked down upon by purists…..but sold well and probably saved the company. Lovely stretch of road at the end of the video.

What a nice video to watch before work. Well done on getting there! Your last clip reminds me of a very happy trip we did to Denmark and Sweden, driving from the UK a few years ago. Wishing you many happy trips in it (before the next project).

Nice, very nice. As a poor student I spent 6 months having to rock my rover metro back and forth to reset the starter motor before each start. Great way to impress the ladies on a night out. Sweet Porsche you’ve got running, thanks for this.

Generally the starter pinion gear doesn't get jammed like that on more modern starters with pre-engage solenoids (vs. the old Bendix inertia type, as fitted to old 60s British classics, like the Morris Minor (as stated!), Mini, ADO16 etc. But maybe the pre-engage solenoid or the return spring is weak/dirty ?? Also "cable-shoes" - love it! (= terminals)!

Love this, thank you for making these videos. I'm rebuilding a 1977 martini edition right now, complete rebuild and some performance tweaks. It's so cool to see people working on these cars again. They aren't the fastest or the most desirable porsche out there but they deserve love and have a lot to offer. Go out and get one while they're still cheap!

Fingers crossed for your MOT, hope she passes. Well wear! Bringing my own car back because it failed on a sticky rear brake and brake lights. People always like to dump on the MOT, but it serves a very useful purpose. I lived in Ireland for a long time and initially they had no MOT whatsoever and the state of the cars was really shocking. Cars where crabbing sideways, lights where shining straight up, rust holes you could fit your fist through, every third car had a cracked windscreen, water in all the lights and of course belching smoke. It improved dramatically once they brought in the NCT. I don't care what anyone says but a national car testing program is necessary, because people.

Nice work...I had one of these way back in the 90s..I loved it especially the pop up headlamps...I drove it to Czechoslovakia and it really turned some heads back then..I remember that the electrical system did sometimes have gremlins..Mine was Guards red but I really like the yellow colour...A bit like a diet yellowbird!!

One of the "joys" of older cars is dealing with someone else's wiring bodgery, cos you never know what they did, how they did it or why, even better when it's all twisted together and taped up, that's the sort of wiring I did as a kid for 12v stuff I'd "liberated" from scrapyards... :P

Does the car have a K-Jetronic? The starter motor has a short hickup when you switch the ignition on, and the fuelpump works for a short time. I only can tell for VOLVO, but here I would check the connectors on the two Jetronic-related relais: The one with "30, 86, 85 = ground and two 87=fuel pump and 87c=auxiliary air device" on it (the fuel pump relais) fires up the pump (when you switch to ignition but do not start: a short time; when the motor runs: all the time). It is connected via its 86 to pin 30 on the other relais (with pins 87a connected with 86, 87, 85 = ground from the big airflowsensor, and 30). Someone must have mixed up the connections. You need a scematic, I guess. Good luck!
@SeasideGarage6 ай бұрын
Yea its Kjet.... Thanks for the info! :)
@924oc6 ай бұрын
We have a schematic for the Fuel Pump Relay, and a repair service if needed as you can't buy the relays anywhere. However you have a rare early version with the fuse on top just to add complication.

Seems to be a lovely car... if you are not too tall... That's probably the same for all 944's and 968's as well 😔 I can tell from personal experience that the Boxster is not good for tall guys either. (Same for 996 and Cayman of that generation??) I had to remove the airbag steering wheel and install a smaller deepdish sports steering wheel just to have enough room for my knee to operate the clutch. And i always had to have the seat all the way back. I'm 1m87. So for tall guys, test your seating position before you buy an old Porsche.
