There has been several tests manual vs pdk from auto publication's. The fact of the matter is that for same spec cars the difference in performance is negligible. If I recall essentially identical. I will acknowledge the pdk can do that over and over where we as humans are subject to user error. Although, unless you use your GT3 as a way to win money racing...I see no reason not get the manual.

Water Gate it’s especially popular in the U.S. where 99% of the population drives AT, because then you can brag you “know more” about driving. Less effective in Europe where more or less everyone learns manual since teenage. So now they go with the “emotional side” of their transmission preference. I personally ignored that emotion was about shifting, even after driving 24 years. Engine sound, chassis, the car’s ability to push you deep in your seat when you floor it, these are emotional stuff. The only emotion manual shifting awakes inside me is anger : I know I am not getting 100% of the car’s potential performances.

Jack Shotton driving experience isn’t just shifting right? I mean you spend way more time hands on the wheel or right (or left) foot on the gas than shifting. I think driving experience will be in danger when there will be a oled screen instead of the windshield, or a playstation controller instead of the wheel. Formula 1 have had sequential transmission with paddle shifters for decades, I don’t believe Schumi’s V10 F2004 lacked “driving experience”
