Porsche (991) Battery Reset with Autel MK808

I demonstrate how to perform a Battery reset, after installing a new battery in a 2012 Porsche 911. I point out the necessary details of character spacing at the input screen. In this example I installed a Non Porsche battery. Yes, you can do that and it's totally fine.

Nicely done video. Just changed the battery on my 2013 991.1 for the first time. Used a Duralast AGM. Used the iCarsoft tool to register the new battery, Had trouble initially just entering the information for the battery. As you suggested, it was just a matter of assuring the expected number of characters was entered into each field. Even with the purchase of the iCarsoft tool I saved over $400. Thanks again for the tip.

I replaced the battery on my '14 c2s for the first time. It wasn't dead I've been using a cteck battery tender for the last two years and that might have kept the battery last this long but it wasn't getting fully charged lately so i replaced it with a Walmart H8 AGM 800cca battery. With the core exchange i paid $202.00. all i did was plug the battery tender to the cigarette lighter port before replacing the battery and that seem to kept all the memories in the electrical system. Its been over a week and everything seems normal.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Good info. 👍 It would be typical that your car would work just fine, doing your replacement like you did. There is an understanding that porsche changes the recharge curve as a battery ages. If that is true, then you have not reset the system to a new battery charging profile. If you Don't have access to a programmer, then I wouldn't worry about it. There are a number of forum stories like yours that seem to work for years. 👍

Jack, thanks for the video. So I bought a Costco Battery too. I'm using the iCarsoft POR V.20 and had a heck of a time trying to use the sequence scheme like you used for the Scanner Number, so I just used the "sample" number iCarSoft had on the screen. Not really sure if the BMS really fully understands these numbers. I'd be curious to know anyones thoughts on this. If it's going to affect the BMS on this battery or not to have an exact Scan Code or Part Number...??

Thanks for your comments. Battery size and age would be the only charge characteristics that the car could use. It's my opinion that all the other data is for the dealers information. My Battery and Porsche have been working great.

That’s so helpful. Thank you for the video. Have you had any problem with not adding Porsche’s genuine scan code and number? I also don’t want to spend $380 for buying a genuine Porsche battery and been wondering if it would have any problem. Thank you in advance. :)

No problem with not using a Porsche battery. My car has been working great. No error codes or any side effects.
