I'd like to add to this video that possibly the reason non of the other battery functions work with this particular Maxysis is because it probably does not have the capability to register other batteries. Another reason is when vehicles are shipped to the U.S., they are retrofitted with led acid batteries when its suppose to have a AGM battery at all times. I currently have a 908 Elite and it can do all batteries. It does ask for the code. The code does register the battery AH and voltage information and size. I work at a BMW independent shop. Autologic is mostly what I use. The Autologic Blue Box and Drive Pro can actually retrofit or change the retro fits back to BMW AG standard of AGM batteries. The 908 Elite can't do this or at least I have not seen any provisions within its system to do such a task. BMWs no matter which after, 2006 are suppose to have AGM batteries.

Interesting, my 2011 328 came from the factory with a lead acid battery. My 2016 has the agm battery.

Why is this..? My 09 335i has oem Bmw lead acid battery changed in 2015. From factory in 09 it was also 92 ah 850 cca lead acid oem battery. But I’m due for another and I haven’t called yet but I’ve heard they are only selling the 92 ah in agm now so idk. I don’t really want put agm in my car want stick to what it has had for last decade… may have switch brands just to stay with lead acid like a dudalast or something but I know I won’t be able to find it in 92 ah.. prob 90 if I’m lucky but prob be a 100 ah or 80 ah are most common.

@@robertkenney6002 Not entirely sure why BMW shipped the E cars with lead acid batteries first then later required AGM counterparts. It could have been some sort of deal BMW North America had with BMW AG. I will look to see why this occured. If i find something, ill let you know. Could have simply been Marketing.

That's the only way i can register a new battery by selecting F1, I tried the other selections and they never worked. I also use aftermarket batteries and not a Bmw original battery.

so actually we need ISTA-P anyway to change capacity of the battery because Autel Can't do it ;( Is any autel can do it?? like 908P???

And as far as the comment about DIYers not being able to do these functions because of expensive equiment, well for now, you can find a FEW scanner that will do such functions for cheap prices but that will soon go away....fast. As the technology changes, so does the equipmwnt used to service vehicles. Get it while you can because the way things are going, the DIY world will drop off pretty soon.

Will the battery alternator stay on if you don’t register the battery? Or what are symptoms if you don’t ? Just wondering as I changed battery but it seems to stay in battery mode hoping it’s not Alternator if it is is Alternator can this scanner show that it’s the alternator? Thanks sorry I’m new to this

If you don't register the battery all that happens is the alternator will not charge the battery as efficiently as it should. A lot of people don't register their battery and have no problems.

If the new battery is not registered, the alternator will over charge the new battery thinking the weak battery is still in the vehicle

There should be a icon for battery under Hot Functions if the MX808 has that.

You may have something wrong with your IBS sensor," Intelligent Battery Sensor" it is at the battery on the negative terminal.

@@unemployedgamers1573 First make sure all the connections are connected at the battery, if they are you can buy a new IBS sensor and that might take care of it.

Dude, the system you are using is expensive. Most DIYers won’t be able to use it. 😳😳
