Sadly that lap the GT2 RS is using Pilot Sport Cup 2, the GT3 RS is using Cup 2 R.

@@juanpablo046 Good point. I’d like to see the 918 on modern tire rubber and all 3 cars runs on the same day with the same driver. That would be a great comparison. I think the tires matter more than we know.

@@justincharles6585 it most probably will happen, recently there was a 991 gt2 rs spotted testing on the nordschleife but with different wheel houses, probably testing suspension parts for the 992 gt2 rs.

Gt3 RS is wayyy better in corners when the GT2 RS have a better acceleration (turbocharged and 200 more hp) and max speed (less downforce) It’s impressive to see the differences between theses two beasts

It's amazing how fast the GT3 is in corners, it's like 20-30 km/h faster than the GT2 in some corners, even 40km/h faster in high speed turns, in fact it's almost as fast as GT3 race cars in the corners.

To be fair, if the GT2RS had been only on the Cup 2 tires, while the GT3RS had the Cup 2R tires. Had the GT2RS had the Cup 2R, it would have set a time of about 6:41. The 992 GT2RS with 750+hp, Cup 2R fat tires, really might be able to do 6:30.

So interesting to see the differences in where each of those cars perform. GT3 was pulling away until the long uphill climb before Karussell where the GT2 basically evened the score and they were basically neck and neck in Karussell. Then GT3 started pulling again until Gantry where it had a bit over 4 second lead over the GT2. But then only with the last straight to Bridge the GT2 again took 2 seconds out of the GT3's lead.

Seems like there is a little difference in tires; notice how the GT3 is a little tipsy in the lower speed curves. And then it might be the difference in track temp as seen by time of day. The real test would be to have the drivers exchange places for a second go at it.

Gt3rs using cup 2 R while gt2rs using cup 2. Tires make the biggest difference. If gt2rs had cup2 R it'd still be faster than gt3rs

Tires alone make these laps incomparable, as does the aero difference between the 991 and 992 generation of both RS cars. I’ll take a GT3RS and GT2RS from the 997, 991, and 992 generations. Anxiously awaiting the latter to be introduced.

I’m a huge GT3 and GT3RS fan, but don’t kid yourself, newer cup2R tires on the 2RS and slightly more downforce (which might be slightly less efficient than the 3RS, with DRS, would still be fine, given it’s got 200 more HP).

the only reason why the GT3RS is faster than the GT2RS is obvious out on the video is because of how the Aerodynamics of the car was styled. and yes its true that the GT2RS is fast because it has more hp but from the video the GT2RS isnt stable especially the fact that the car is jumping around. unlike the GT3RS because of how it was designed the car was stable and combined those flaps on the underside of the car that controls the air flow and combined that DRS wing at the rear it’s obviously safe to say that the GT3RS is much more stable than the GT2RS. yes its true it GT2RS is much powerful than the GT3RS but pretty much it all came down to the aerodynamics of the vehicle itself i mean after all the GT3RS is made around corners to go faster and i know the GT2RS should be the same but the GT2RS is just jumping around unlike the GT3RS where its just stable all around.

This GT2 RS lap was in 2017 and then only 20.6km track length was used, the full lap of 20.832km was introduced in 2019.

Porsche is the most underrated sports car company! Think about what they could do if they were using twin turbo V8’s, V10’s, V12’s or AWD on all their vehicles. Look at how well the 911 Turbo S does with AWD, and twin turbo V6! $200,000 and it does as well as cars that are twice the price. I wish the next GT2 RS came with AWD and a twin turbo motor. There it’s much that would keep up with it in the road or track!

You have to laugh at some of the comments, On a full lap of the ring the GT3 is slower, in racing you cant shorten a lap to make a car look faster than another or move the start finish line, its obvious the gt3 has better aero so is fast on the twisty stuff, but on the straight its way slower than the GT2. Its no good having a car that's just fast in one area but not another. depending what track there on would give different out comes tighter twisty tracks the GT3 would be pretty unbeatable but on the big power tracks it would just not have the top end speed. The gt2 and gt3 are great cars but in many ways are so different, to me the GT3RS is not really a GT its a road legal race car, a true GT car you should be able to throw your luggage in and go touring, which you can in the GT2RS

you need to post up the fastest times for each car not just select the ones you want to make the gt3rs look faster the fastest time the new GT3RS has done is 6.49 the GT2RS NONE MR is 6.47. The new GT3RS is super fast in the corners with the new aero but put that aero on the GT2RS and the GT3RS would not even be close to the GT2RS

6:49 of GT3 RS is for 20.8km layout, while GT2 RS's 6:47 is for 20.6km. 6:44 is GT3 RS's laptime for 20.6km

Yeah but the argument "yeah but if you put aero on that then it would be faster" is a bit bs. You can claim that on any car then. They made the GT2 RS the way it is and that's it. Otherwise you won't be able to compare any car. Yes with more aero the GT2 RS is faster of course. That is why the MR package exists. You could also claim "if you put more power into the GT3 RS then it would be faster (better front suspension architecture, lighter and so on).

@@rianrahmanto8069 GT2 RS had *no* CUP 2 *R* tires back in 2017 _(only normal Cup 2s)_ , which cost about ~5 seconds + the track was rebuilt/changed, which cost only at Tiergarten also about 1 to 1,5 secs. So the 2,402 seconds it was faster on the 20,600 km track length version you have to add up about 6-6,5 secs, which makes the Standard 991 GT2 RS _(non MR Version)_ still about 4 seconds faster under same circumstances than the 992 GT3 RS.
