Harry seems like a great guy. For a guy that has the collection that he has, and the lifestyle he lives, I feel most guys have an heir of pretentiousness about them. Harry, is just a down to earth car lover that happens to have a collection that would make most gear heads DROOL. Keep it up!

I am not wealthy and remember when I saved enough to buy my 1st used 911, I joined TIPEC. the independent Porsche enthusiasts club U.K. I was anxious as I thought I would be looked down upon. I found the club to be fantastic and the ladies and gents saved me 12K on repairs as OPC quoted me 16K to repair, in one of their clinic days. I’ve found most car enthusiasts, especially Porsche, to be tbe complete opposite of how I thought they would be. Harry seems, very much, of the same ilk. I can imagine chewing the cud with him, for hours. It took me some 16 years to save for the 1st 911.

Seeing an older car on track with modern weapons brought back memories of taking my Turbo Esprit HC (87) to Donington Fast Car Festival. I was with the Supercar Driver Club. The old girl was being held up on the corners but showed her age on the straights.. but great to experience the track in a classic.

As I've got older I lost the love for Top Gear, it was turning into the TV equivalent of the magazine "Max Power" ...... Now if you could get Harry and a couple of likeminded motor journalists to do a TV show it could probably be one of the best shows around 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
@erikhertzer84347 жыл бұрын
Bill Paxton: yes, I would nominate Harry, Chris Harris and Tiff Needell as a car show team...good variety of personality and ability and car knowlege...and all genuine folks, no buffoonery there.
@johntechwriter7 жыл бұрын
Yes, Top Gear has been a joke for years among motorheads. For me, having three opinionated co-hosts reviewing a car is two too many. I prefer a single presenter who focuses on the car, not witty repartee with his co-hosts. Harry's format is nearly ideal: first a walk-through of the car and then a drive. Additional presenters would just clutter things up.
@jacksonblitzkreg97747 жыл бұрын
Erik Hertzer I'd say harry, jay Leno and James may would make a pretty good show

I’d suggest Harry and the young guy who presents Carfection for a new Top Gear. Tiff and the other names mentioned here have had their chance, and anyway, Tiff is still fronting 5th Gear, which is no bad thing. Went off TG when they preferred smashing up cars instead of appreciating them.

Watching that P1 pass your 993 helps illustrate the difference between a very fast car and a modern super car. I'm old enough to remember when the 993 Turbo was one of the quickest things on the road.
@harrysgarage8 жыл бұрын
P1 GTR has 986bhp, which 450+bhp more than my car, was running on trick tyres and has proper downforce. Weighs about the same though! Porsche was close to its rev-limiter in 5th on the back straight, which equates to around 165mph..

I owned and tracked a 964 RS years ago before the prices started to escalate. I think the idea of a bespoke 911 is a great idea, many of the earlier 911's had flaws including the RS and I think some subtle changes can improve them significantly. I would have loved a 993 GT2 but even then they were beyond my reach.
@harrysgarage7 жыл бұрын
Mark Broadheaf At least you had the experience of owning a proper RS. There's an obsession over the 2.7RS and now 964 RS that has driven values to point where they are pure collector cars, rather than being used for what they were designed for. I feel very lucky to own this beautifully modified 993 turbo. All I've done is to enhance the details by recreating the GT2 interior and little details (lightened glass, etc). The 911 is such a malleable car, it can be made into whatever you want it to be, by specialists around the world. Original is good for resale but sensitive mods can make the 911 ownership experience even more special. Thanks for watching.
@markbroadheaf15937 жыл бұрын
I think you have done an admirable job with your modifications. I have driven a 993 Turbo, which at that time ( 1995 ) was a real weapon on the road. I must have done 30 or 40 track days in the RS, but given their value today would I would imagine that they may be a rare sight on track these days. The RS was seriously hobbled by its standard suspension in my view. I changed this for an adjustable set up which transformed the car entirely on the road. I bolted the original springs and dampers back on when I sold it for £ 20K back in 2004... Incidentally, I must thank you and your colleagues for years of excellent motoring journalism.
