Just did this with my dads 1996 cabrio. Thanks so much for posting the video. Saved me a trip to the dealership and $$$. Although, the part is now around $180-200.

Used #31 O-Rings in the 4 bushing areas and all good.......17MM for the 4 bolts on the frame and Torx #30 tool for airbag screws.....$2 fix....

Very helpful video. It is increasingly important to learn basic repairs for these classics because repair shops now rarely have the internal skill. Question: Instead of ordering the replacement frame for $250+, do you think you could have repaired the bushings on the original frame with silicon gel?

how would you suggest torquing down the 2 torx bolts to 7.5 ft lbs using that torx screwdriver? thank you

Without undoing anything (and saving more £££s / $$$s), as a temporary fix (mine's been there three years!), you can tuck a folded piece of card in the back of the airbag which effectively does the job of the worn parts you're replacing.
