In this episode, we put the final touches on my 2001 996 Porsche Carrera 4 ‘s transmission and get it fully reassembled. THEN we get it back up into the car!!

we need to know how exactly it failed , does this mean the first sign of 2nd gear slight noise take it apart then you wont wear the teeth , and just a new collar, what is the exact cause in details??

The synchro rings wear down from speed differential between gear shafts. Like brakes. Inherently happens with use. If you notice grinding sound going into gear then it’s a sign that your synchros are worn. It can be driven that way, so no need to drop everything and fix it. Just need to fix in order to remedy grinding. Make sense? Good?
