As a 911 owner, it’s worth buying or making some mesh grilles to protect those condensers. They are very prone to stone damage or leaf build up which causes them to corrode.

The whine is quite pronounced for me on an android mobile with the KZbin app. When the volume is turned up its quite clear at 17seconds but is present for quite alot of the video. Same on a Samsung TV with a soundbar, not very pronounced at normal volume but noticeable if turned up.

@@volkswizardhi Andrew, for me there is an underlying noise over the whole soundtrack, to be honest, I got as far as the vac pump being used and had to turn off! ☹️ The noise is most noticeable when I first watched it on my phone, I’ve just had a watch of it through AppleTV and I can mostly only notice it when the volume is at the higher end.

I didn’t get the tinnitus joke because I actually do have tinnitus 😂😢 it was another great video for me👍 thanks Andrew, I might not be so terrified next time the air on isn’t cool . Shame I’m not close to this guy, great caddy too, as a panel and paint guy I always loved how Vw pressed that rear side panel out so flat! Not a ripple anywhere! 😮

The tinnitus comment wasn’t meant to be a joke, maybe I should have left a more constructive comment however! It is a great video, I just found it rather difficult to follow with the background noise.👍

The green coloured liquid is UV dye, you need a black light to spot the small leaks if there are any.

Been the same for a few videos now, I didn't like to complain as I'm sure he's doing his best.

Is this in reply to the tinnitus? If you can tell me where in the video I'll see what I can do as different cameras do different things. Thanks. I can't always go back to comments easily so start a new comment please

I didn't need a special UV light in the end as it was so obvious
@cfbm125 Жыл бұрын
@@volkswizardes, absolutely, in this case a light would not be needed, but any pin holes in the condenser can be very hard to spot, the UV dye can make the smallest leak visible, it’s also possible to use a ‘sniffer’ device to detect leaks in systems that don’t already contain dye, rather than re-gassing with dye included, just to have to remove it when the fault is found, Two things to note, 1. the temp at the vent should be read with ALL face vents open, with the system set to hi fan speed and set to recirculate (roof up), 2. You cannot damage or strain the compressor due to low gas, as when it becomes too low, the low pressure switch will cut the system.

Thanks Malcolm, it's been an incredible trip so far. Filmed the first half to Venice but the return trip is at least as good and only 2/3rd of the way home!

Hello my friend, I have a very very important question why when making a diagnosis at Audi the dealership tells me that the whole haldex system must be changed when they have not even dismantled the haldex pump, they tell me that it is is subject to change because the vehicle is currently in traction, and the Quattro no longer works. What should be done ? Because the esp is triggered automatically from zero to 50 km/h. I just want to change the pump. Do you think it can work again then I sell it
@volkswizard Жыл бұрын
Hello, sorry for delay. Take the car from Audi and find a specialist who will be transparent with you. First thing to do is scan the AWD module for faults. Visit haldexrepairs.co.uk for more info

It's unusual to have an a/c circuit that runs from front to rear so it does make it a bit harder or a lot harder in the case of compressor failure - that will be a very long video!

If there was one thing that probably would have saved me £000’s over 35 years of car ownership, it would have been a better understanding of how things work and also a bit more bravery to find out how to do stuff and have a go myself 😏

I think the number of videos on KZbin guiding DIYers through jobs makes it a golden age for car DIY even if cars have got a lot more complicated over last 20 years - thankfully a/c has stayed the same which now makes it one of the simplest bits on a car but you do need specialist equipment though luckily it's the same for every car
