Thanks. I’ve been looking all over for this topic for years! Great tips and honest information.

Always pay more attention to left/right vs driver/passenger side descriptions on the World Wide Web. 2/3rds of the world drive from the right side of their cars.

There’s some confusion between drivers and passengers side between RHD and LHD cars. 986 had the PS lines on the right (looking from the back) 987 on the left. 987.1 has the hex threaded couplings like yours. 987.2 has quick release couplings. I recently replaced the rubber hose section of both PS hoses on my 987.2C as they were leaking on the crimps. Huge job, removed the plenum and intake manifolds whilst I was at it to clean everything out. Air Con pump has to be moved out the way, if you’re ever doing the main lines from the pump to the underbody couplings/joiner…

Is there a specialized tool for the 987.2 quick release fittings?
@Roland_Rohrle3 жыл бұрын
@@jkoravos there is, but I just used pointy nose pliers to gently push the locking collar to the release position.

@@Roland_Rohrle thanks, that’s what i was wondering. Are there any small parts you’d recommend replacing as part of the job?
@Roland_Rohrle3 жыл бұрын
@@jkoravos G'day, yes. There is an o-ring (unique size) and dust cover kit for those couplings. I'll post up the part number later. Are you replacing the lines from the pump to the couplings? Or taking them to a good hydraulic shop to have the rubber sections replaced, which is much cheaper and easier to work with?
@jkoravos3 жыл бұрын
@@Roland_Rohrle I planned on just replacing the line that has the failed connection with a factory part, ~$250. I've not used a hydraulics shop before so I'm not sure how much I can trust a shop made connection vs a factory made.

I noticed you were driving from the passenger side of the car 🤣

A/C fittings should have told you those are A/C lines. Left and Right and "Drivers " side is dependent on the country you are in. Some countries have the steering wheel on the Right Side of the car... and there is a history as to why.... educate yourself; especially before you start taking things about on your Porsche before you know what you're doing. Good Luck.

😂😂drivers and passengers side😀man is unreal then talking about aircon line as power steering line🫣

What year is this i have a 2009 987 and that power line doesn’t have a wrench support

We’ll seeing how those are ac fittings I would assume they were ac

So basically you let refrigerant in to the atmosphere? Which I think is an offence? Definitely is in my country. I'm Gona be honest now. I think you should hang up the spanners and put it in the shop if you don't know what an ac line looks like 🤷🏼♂️

Everyone starts somewhere. Grateful he included his mistake in the video for others to learn from no matter how obvious something is.
