Bought a 2011 Cayenne S V8 in early 2017 with 67K miles for $33K & change... nicely specked ..I blv the S is the sweetspot ... doesn't have the problematic air suspension nor turbo. Now have 117K on it & just had a 40K Service done > credit to Porsche for standing behind it as in 2019 it went through the big cam shaft bolt recall > so much of the engine was addressed... actually didn't know of the recall at the time & broke down on the road... thankfully close to home & it got me home in limp mode... driving it extremely gingerly for abt 2 miles....was very lucky. Be religious... almost overzealous with the oil changes & stay ahead of the maintenance schedule & they will reward You > such a fun car to drive.... as close to a high priced sports car as I'll likely ever get > very much worth the premium imo... especially being it's done well as far as not depreciating too badly....in fact it's still worth a conservative $10K > recent dealer trade/CarMax quote...not bad.

EVERY 958 Cayenne will eventually hit the problem with the alarm horn battery wearing out. Yes, there is a small battery in this unit. This will cause the flasher lights to blink when attempting to lock the car. Even worse, the car will not be able to be locked until this is fixed. If you fail to notice this issue, it could also cause a dead battery within 24 hours. For my car, I hit this issue in the 12th year of ownership.

I have 2013 958.1 diesel and it’s been a great car. You ABSOLUTELY CANNOT SHORT TRIP the diesel or any TDI. Must have a LONG LONG drive. So mine is now my off road vehicle (yeah it’s 4x4 and very capable and can tow more than my Sequoia).

I bought a 2013 Diesel, first time I ever buy a car without seeing it and the people who were supposed to inspect it... did it quote BAD. Anywho, has cost me a lot of money to fix the issues and it has a weird smell because of the Diesel liquid and someone that may have spilled some and left it there... Now, it drives like a dream, the fixes done have made a HUGE difference, do I wish I would have bought a different one, maybe, but that's the one I got and those things drive sooo goooof

Same I have a 2013 958.1 and it’s been a dream. For 10 years no issues other than routine maintenance. Lately I had to have the DPF removed and cleaned in a kiln for $300 with some sensors replaced at about $2k total. Other than that and an alternator is been a great car!! 32mpg. You just CANNOT short trip these diesels.

Ok Porsche people chime in with your experience. My wife wants a Porsche Cayenne Previously had a 2004 Boxter we sold because of Kids. After driving the 958.2 base I feel it's a bit under powered. So I drove a 958.1 (2011-2014) S model with the 4.8 V8 and loved the V8 sound and very noticeable additional 100hp over the base. I then drove a 958.2 S (2015-2018) with the 3.6 TT which has similar HP and torque to the 958.1 v8 (no turbo). I'm trying to stay away from too much complexity. I don't want air suspension and initially didn't want turbo units. I like the simplicity of a natural aspirated motor. But after driving the 958.2 S with turbo I like the power and feel just as much as the 958.1S 4.8 V8. Would love to hear your real world experience with reliability, repairs, etc on the S model 2011-2014 4.8 no turbo vs the 2015-2018 S model V6TT. Thanks for your help.

I bought a 2012 GTS 4.8 v8 in May last year. So far so good. Had a service and noticed a slight leak on the oil pressure sensor. Other than that it’s a great car. Wife has a 2015 diesel Macan S that has had a variety of problems but all under warranty for her, seems to be worth its weight in gold.

I have a 2016 Cayenne S with 54K miles on it. Spectacular vehicle though it did have the transfer case replaced under the extended warranty by Porsche about a month ago. Would have been $5,000! Only other things I can think about are the front intakes (check these constantly for debris, mostly leaves getting stuck in them) and I did beef up the windshield washer reservoir cap. It’s sort of weak at the hinge so I modified it using matching blue coated solid core wire. It snaps closed much better and no longer pops open on its own.

What is the terms of the extended warranty?
@hexjumper1060
@hexjumper1060 10 ай бұрын
@@stewmeat9261 It depends on the VN number. Check your VIN against the expiration date on the extended warranty. My 958 expired in November but if you have a newer model it may still be covered. Dealer told me they changed to design on the replacement cases to forgo this same issue.

i own a 2014 Cayenne Diesel and a 2012 Audi Q7 Diesel, both have been by far the most reliable and most economical Q7 is at 230K km mark and still runs like a charm. Seem to be very identical drivetrains. Just be regular with engine oil changes(i chance oil every 10K Kms) and these probably will outlast any late model gasoline options

The way the emissions scandal was handled was the stupidest and most expensive way to do it, just order VW to pay a bunch of money and be done with it, that teaches them a lesson and avoids the costs for everyone else, or maybe remove taxes on new vehicles do that people can actually afford clean vehicles

@@getdealtwithquick These rear roof rail drains can be widened by cutting an inch off their length ( good you tube videos on technique and access), also line the rear storage area with a rubber cargo mat, both will protect against water intrusion to the hybrid battery location.

I had a question I'm looking at the 958.1 Cayenne turbo which is the 2011 model and it says it has 500 horsepower and 516 lb of of torque? Is that correct You mentioned 493 horsepower in the earlier models from 2003 all the way to 2009 the turbo model started at 450 horsepower and from 2010 they started with 500 horsepower where did you get 493 horsepower? Also by the way the 958.2 which started in 2015 had 520 horsepower not 513 HP? And you know as well as I do that Porsche is very lenient when it comes to their horsepower specs.

@Manuel Silva yes agreed Porsche are generally conservative in their figures If you don't have time to read the full reply below, PS and HP are different to BHP. We explain this below, you have likely seen the 500 figure in HP or PS 👍 To clarify power, this was a question I came across all the time when working in vehIcle sales / consignment and then motoring journalism and for car enthusiasts this is something really interesting. (I hope) 😅 We've been asked this question several time now so maybe we'll make a video on it Internationally there are 3 (technically 4) recognised power figures. These are PS (pferdestärke), BHP and HP, and KW. For example, Australians use KW (since 1977), Americans use HP, and Europeans use PS (although many people in the UK and USA still quote a translated BHP) Porsche quote KW and PS and then translate these to BHP. KW is the European metric standard and so Porsche always measure to agreed testing parameters to attain this figure. PS is 'German' Horsepower. Basically a modern measure of BHP than James Watt steam engine calculation. The figure 500 that you've seen is in PS (Porsche own official figures for the Cayenne Turbo 958.1) or you have seen the HP figure, we'll come onto HP last. 500PS = 493bhp (1PS = 0.98592bhp) This is why we quote 493bhp in our video. It is very common (especially in the UK as people generally still quote BHP) for people to quote the PS figure as BHP, but they are not the same. In the USA 'BHP' is actually 'HP' as the test for power does not include all parasitic loss from the engine as not all ancillaries are attached (for example the oil pump and water pump are attached but the A/C compressor generally isn't) as it measures the power of the motor not the power of the operating engine in a vehicle as Europe does. In markets calculating BHP measurement the engine operates with all ancillaries attached. Because of the above the American HP figure is usually very close to a PS figure but the measurements of this power is not the same. For this reason we quote BHP as most people know this figure best of all the options. Interestingly, if you ever have taken your car to a 'heart break' dyno, to see its Wheel Horse Power (then translated to BHP) it is because these dynos are testing the car's operating power and the calculation of power that results is usually lower than people expect. This also shows which manufacturers give the truest figures of the cars power and test themselves to the harshest conditions. Porsche are certainly one of those companies (many Japanese car brands are the same with their performance cars) and that is why they perform well, even on a 'heart break' dyno. 😁 Hopefully this response wasn't too long or boring 😊

Climate control blower (fan) and or resistor will fail. It will stay at one fan speed no matter the setting, or will work and then stop blowing, but then come back on. If you're a DIY person, I bought a new one and it took me 1hr to replace it. It cost about $100.00 US for the part.
