Hi Dave. I am driving a Taycan driving long distances. You should have left the route and charging plan to the car. You can always check the expected arrival Soc at the charging stops. Often I stay longer because of having a coffee or snack and charge more than the car planned. It will then recalculate the plan and off you go. I am also using the filters to preselect favourite operators. Enjoy the car.

I know how to get to all the places I go . I only use gps if it is a new location.

I also wish I had ordered the overhead display. By the way, your car has a built-in auto-lock feature that locks as you walk away and unlocks as you approach, you just need to set it up. Please keep sharing your thoughts, you have a great way of simplifying complex ideas. Your son Calton is lucky to have you as a dad. Good luck!

Freeze the video at 5:53 and double check the stop information. It tells you soc at arrival (15%), driving time, soc at departure (57%) and charing time (10min). You are complicating it for yourself. Put in the final destination and drive. Car will do everything for you with unbelivable precision.
@JeddinАй бұрын
You were misunderstanding the route guidance directions. When you first set the navigation to Darien it told you at 5:56 that you would be arriving to your first charging station at 15% charging for 10 minutes to reach 57%. but you appear to have forgotten that and assumed the displayed arrival percentage was for your ultimate home arrival which it wasnt. And at 56:57 you had just de activated the trip planner so it wasnt suggesting charging stops for you. It was giving you the option to “Act. Porsche Charging Planner” back on but you would skip over that option while wondering why it wasnt given you charger route planning…

At 35:12 Dave was a little confused on how to see the arrival time and state of charge at the next charging stop. I’m pretty sure that it would be the same as it is in a Taycan. You simply click on the arrival time clock in the upper right of the NAV screen and it will pull up details of each stop with starting an ending charge and time and distances. This is also the screen where you can re-order stopovers or easily swipe away (delete) stopovers.
@philhartley7564Ай бұрын
It's probably me but I don't understand this reliance on Waze etc. I use the built in Sat Nav on my Audi Q8 Etron and it is great. I can plan a route through the system then change it when I want to stop for food, comfort break or whatever. The GOM is very accurate and predictable, tells me what charge level I will be at, when I reach each stop over and destination. Makes it easy to plan a multiple stop trip and gives me the opportunity to undercharge or overcharge depending on my needs. The two things I would like, that I don't have, are to be able to set the minimum charge level at the charger and at my destination - my car's design is a bit too old for that. My car makes assumptions and I just overrule them if circumstances dictate, comfortable in the knowledge that my decisions are based on fact not fantasy. Overall, very happy with the Audi inbuilt system,

For $90K Porsche should provide a much bigger display. Many drivers over 50 might need reading glasses for the route planner. To avoid the glasses, get a Tesla or MB with hyperscreen. Beware, they will spoil you.

Dave loves a challenge and we find it entertaining. Before starting this road trip in an unfamiliar very complex EV, I would get an in-depth tutorial from Kyle or Jordan. In addition to the Macan route planner, I’d bring a print-out of ABRP as a back-up to avoid ice machines. Feel free to wing-it on road trips only requiring on a few charging stops, but when 11 are needed consider some advanced planning to reduce stress.

While I understand Porsche's issues with changing to NACS, I feel it's still a mistake for them not to switch. By the time they wait for V4 SC to be up and running everywhere, it'll take them more time to switch their ports over. I would think most owners of these would much prefer to have the option as to how they charge, fast at a CCS station, or convenience at a SC. I know I would.

9:15 The car really should have come with a J3400 (NACS) port - it works everywhere in North America because the Tesla CCS Combo 1 adapter has been out forever and works perfectly. They could have provided one for you to use now, and then quit using as everything switches over instead of sticking you with a CCS port and someday sending an adapter you'll have to use into perpetuity. What if she keeps this car for 30 years?

Hi Dave, thank you for sharing your roadtrip to home. You should ask Kyle for some hints. When you set a destination, Porsche Charging display the charge stop. then when you start the trip, the first leg appear with the estimated time of Arrival and the estimated state of charge. If you cancel the nav to enter a nearby point … it will deactivate the preconditioning of the car as you are not travelling to a charger. Then when you disable Porsche charging … you have no charger displayed. My 5 cents (French Macan Turbo Owner). Cheers

I'd have charged at the Holiday Inn that night, gone to bed earlier and left with 100%. Probably $7.20 for the charge but, then again, I'm not a KZbinr. Having said that, here in the UK we don't get free charging with new cars (we have to pay for a subscription that gives us lower cost - around 60% of normal) so I have never been in that predicament. BTW I charged at a UK hotel destination charger on Sunday night. It was 50p per kW (63 cents) and I considered that as a reasonable rate considering the available options and the price of electricity over here. You guys in the US have it lucky. Maybe Kile should do a trip to the UK, see what it's like - although I'd recommend against using the mobile phone in hand while driving and going "10" over - he'd lose his license pretty fast, you just can't do that here for obvious (and good) reason.

When you are used to a Tesla, I guess any new system is going to be a challenge. I guess Dave went through this with the Genesis and Lucid. You do need time to get to know a new car, especially now that the software is so important in EVs and a road trip without that knowledge is likely to bring up issues. We have the luxury of seeing it as it happens (almost) but I am sure we have all been through it if we changed cars like that. Model S and X aren't available in the UK in RHD, which is where I live, so Tesla don't really have any realistic competition to the Macan here. Any potential buyer of a Porsche Macan, in the UK, is unlikely to look at a Model Y, in my opinion.

Funnily enough, I'd never buy a Tesla. I've driven the (often despised) Etron 55 and now q8 Etron around 80,000 miles and I loved them both - very popular in the UK. I've test driven Tesla Model 3, Model X and Model S (although the last two are no longer available in RHD in the UK) and hired Model Y's a couple of times. Always glad to get back into the Etron. Also, apart from CHAdeMO, all cars are CCS in UK and Europe (including Teslas) so we have the benefit of all charging networks because 100+ Tesla locations, in the UK alone, are open to all. I also suspect our (UK and Europe) CCS network is much better than currently in the US and it has improved rapidly over the last 4+ years during which I have been driving EVs on relatively long (1800 miles or so) road trips in Europe and UK. The Macan is high on my list of options for my 2026 car change.

Those tiny screens are honestly pretty ghetto for an expensive Porsche EV

…and I dislike the ev’s that look like they have an iPad glued to the dash. Totally devoid of any design integration, styling. To each his own.

That is one bland-looking vehicle.

Internal combustion is "dated" as yall fight with charging and horrible depreciation. Have fun with that!

@Dwilsonmusic145Ай бұрын
Didn’t seem to have many issues charging? 🧐 and do you think the car is depreciating much differently than the combustion version of the Macan… probably not…

The out of spec review team is quick to point out the pros and cons of EV driving. They are balanced.

As a newbie investor, it’s essential for you to have a mentor to keep you accountable. Ruth Ann Tsakonas is my trade analyst, she has guided me to identify key market trends, pinpointed strategic entry points, and provided risk assessments, ensuring my trades decisions align with market dynamics for optimal returns.

how would you recommend i enter the crypto market? I am also looking at studying some traders and copying their strategy rather than investing myself and losing money emotionally. What's your take on this approach? and How can i reach her, if you don't mind me asking??

look up her name on the web for her website.

The real people (not bots) want less Tesla content.
@philhartley7564Ай бұрын
@@hlothr I don't want Tesla content, I want content on EVs from other manufacturers that I may want to purchase to replace the one I have. The Macan would be one of those options.
