Porsche Panamera vs Taycan Depreciation | The End of The ICE?

The Porsche Taycan has been immensely popular following an increase in gas prices and push towards electric cars. Yet, as gas prices decreased, evidence emerges that people are flocking back to ICE cars. But can we see this, for example, in the price trend and depreciation of the Porsche Panamera?

As gas prices soared, more and more people considered an electric car such as the Porsche Taycan. Yet, ICE car are gaining in popularity now that prices are coming down. But can we see any of this in the price trends? Does the Taycan, for example, depreciate less than the Panamera?
When we compare the price trends for the base, s, gts, turbo, and turbo s market, we can see some interesting developments. First, we can see that they all following the market trend. All prices increased in 2021, flattening more recently, and are now decreasing. Though, it are the Taycan and Panamera turbos that decreased the most. The base and S models decreased the least.
Comparing the depreciation patterns for both cars, we can see than the Taycan S and base models decreased less than its Panamera equivalents. The depreciate rate in the Turbo market is about the same.

Thank you so much man! I am doing some serious analysis on the older panamera models as I live the look, and as someone over 6 foot I think this is the ultimate sedan for the money! If you do get a chance I'd love to watch a video on it. I always enjoy your videos so keep up the great work!

Interesting comparison, I had a Panamera Sport Turismo e-hybird and swapped it for a Taycan 4S as I feared that the depreciation would hit the Panamera much harder. Love the Taycan and I do consider it a much better car than the Panamera

@@LOVESPACEDREAMS If you’re cross shopping 911’s and Taycan, two drastically different cars with totally different purposes, you may just not really understand what you want or need. Take some time to consider what you want from the car and what you plan to use it for. Personally, my 911 is the perfect car for me, but I’m in my 40’s and don’t plan to ever have kids. I wouldn’t consider a sedan unless I needed the back seats, even my 911 has a rear seat delete (LWBS), so I would say again you need to identify your wants/needs and buy what fits you best. Both are great cars though 😊

@@LOVESPACEDREAMS No major issues so far, some software bugs but all sorted by the local Porsche dealer. Had the car since April 21 and done approx 20k km. Best car I have owned, fabulous driving machine.

My long time buddy is a top-end master tech for a high-end Silicon Valley Porsche dealer, and his work area is always filled with warranty Taycan’s to get fixed. Personally, I think the Taycan is pretty ugly in the front vs the Panamera

What do you think about Taycan base, 4s and Turbo basically at the same price point at the German secondary market? Even Turbo S is not that higher. Crazy deprecation there.

The story isn't complete on the battery. We can better predict how long an internal combustion engine will last before major repairs, but few of us have owned an EV long enough to know how the cars battery is going to work out. I didn't like hearing a guy talking about a charging station telling him he didn't have an account. Those cars *could be* worthless in a few years for as yet unkown reasons.

Don’t the battery have a 10? year warranty or something? What is your concern if there is a warranty? There is no “maintenance” but some day when it needs to be replaced the battery pack is $40k, so I don’t see these holding any value long term, not to mention in 10 years solid state batteries will make all current 1st gen EV tech completely irrelevant. No one will want a 10 year old EV, so if you buy one and hold just do so recognizing you’re going to eat the entire cost of the car.
