I just came back fro Sherwood Forest to Great Torrington in my Model 3. 256 miles total,left on 99% and arrived home with 33%. Speed limit where possible with wife, dog and a full boot. Absolutely brilliant efficiency and best I have achieved on a long journey and I wasn’t trying. There are things to dislike about Tesla but you really can’t ask for better than that.

Loving my GV60, it's a beautiful car. Getting used to the effects of changing settings on the range etc it's consistently approx 25 miles per 10% of battery drain so far. The heat pump is quite expensive to use unfortunately. However everytime I see a Taycan I cry a little (given I had one on order) 😭

Another great review & goes to show that long distant drivers can use electric cars but the charging infrastructure needs to speed up if we are all being pushed towards EVs
@RSEV2 жыл бұрын
Indeed. There are some fantastic charging hubs now but more always needed. Exeter services setting a great example, and plenty more around. But also need more general low power chargers available almost everywhere you park in public incase needed too. It’s mad when hotel car parks do t have them
@smc8122 жыл бұрын
It's really not as bad as some people claim. In my experience it takes longer to get served fast food in the service station than the car takes to charge most times.
@hareshkaria83772 жыл бұрын
@@smc812 Hi Steven. Yes but the problem I've experienced is that, as now, I've approached charging hubs & all are occupied & then u end up waiting which can be frustrating if u r time poor - & in today's society, we've all got busy agendas.

@@hareshkaria8377 In the past 3 years 25K miles I've needed to charge away from home 60 times (at 34 different location) and only waited once. I know this isn't everyone's experience, depends on route and frequency but for many people like me there can be no issue with the networks in the UK.

@@hareshkaria8377 if you look for sets of chargers just off the main routes - places like Starbucks, Costa, McDonalds - these tend to be less busy, though are often only 50kW charge speeds.

I’ve had a deposit on the forthcoming Macan EV, since 2020. Apparently It’s delayed, for another two years, due to software development problems! Interesting how the Taycan is being fine tuned, in that department. I wonder why they can sort one vehicle out, and not the other? The only other explanation is maybe it’s down to wishing to use improving battery technology? Btw, Your Vids are excellent, very informative at all times! Many Thanks
@姚智偉-m6h2 жыл бұрын
Macan EV is believed to be using new platform (PPE). While the hardware is performing well, software is not ready since VAG is struggling with devleoping new software intra-structure. Nevertheless, I believe they would figure it out and should be quite competitive.
@stuartbrowning30742 жыл бұрын
@@姚智偉-m6h In an ultra competitive World car-market, a delay of two years must be commercially very damaging for Porsche and VAG group. They are surely losing ground, to other performance EV entrants, such as the Kia EV6 GT?

Would be great to see how the turbo did in terms of efficiency and range, i guess the turbo was software uPdated ? Not sure have you noticed somewhat driving and throttle response changed after the uPdate, previously the throttle was on my turbo was a tad bit more responsive and now after the uPdate it feels its switching from rear to all 4 wheels and a tiny bit lag in that switch..

Would be interested to know how much did each stop cost in total - given recent electricity increase.
@RSEV2 жыл бұрын
I meant to include, although to be fair prices change up and down they could be misleading in a few months time. However on this day each stop was a bit of £30 and so added up to about £60 in total. That’s with no membership cards, just pay as you go. If I would have used Porsche or Ionity chargers for example it would have been about £25 in total due to discounted rates I can get as a Porsche owner
@jonathantaylor19982 жыл бұрын
@@RSEV £30 to cover about 180 miles in a high-performance supercar...? That'd equate to about 45mpg - still not bad compared to the 'real world' 35mpg the 4 E-Hybrid Panamera gets... 😉

Great video. In your opinion, what’s the better EV, Model 3 Performance or the Taycan RWD or 4S?
@ChuckJ19442 жыл бұрын
Nice video I really enjoyed. I had been waiting for it. I sort of disagree with you that the Turbo would get as good a mileage because it has a different system so I think it would be worse mileage.
@RSEV2 жыл бұрын
It has a more powerful motor but jsut travelling at X speed with same wheels and aero I don’t think it would have been different. Gints said it showed 2.8 the same as mine but didn’t photo it. But it’s irrelevant because we weren’t in convoy. Shame the logistics of the day didn’t allow the opportunity. But we’ll do it another day I’m sure
@ChuckJ19442 жыл бұрын
@@RSEV I'm told the front motor is not quite as powerful as the rear motor so one would think that the front motor would burn less energy, but as you say, the rolling and aero resistance is the same. But motors have a different sweetspot for their efficiency range and perhaps the rear motor is falling into their efficiency range at highway speed where the front motor is moving out of its.
@garymendham2 жыл бұрын
Interesting as ever. In the Tesla Model 3 dual motor, the rear motor is permanent magnet so obviously more efficient than the front induction type so for motorway cruising at "steady" speeds the rear motor does the vast majority of work. The front kicks in when you suddenly put your foot down or the car detects any wheel slippage such as in wet or icy weather etc. Is the motor configuration the same in the Taycan i.e. two different types? Perhaps the software update has copied Tesla's motor management algorithm to get the increased efficiency?
@rudyyyxu2 жыл бұрын
all i know is Kyle from out of spec motoring talked about the dual motor taycans decoupling the rear drive unit in range mode. I have a feeling Taycans use PM motors on both axles
