Well it is quite a bit slower than Tesla launch control, who knows what the Tesla could do if it slowed itsself down to this pace. And the Tesla had been around for some time. Lets see when they come out with their new line which could include the same style of cooling for the motors and batteries

They have experience driving and reviewing all the competition so could have easily given it a poor review if it didn't stack up. Put another way, if this was a new motorbike surely the reviewer should be a motorbike specialist channel or would you rather a car journalist be the one who tells you about it first?

Top gear was about 3 blokes having a good time around some cars, the primary focus was not the cars, it was the lad culture. Fully charged has it's primary focus on the electric cars and electric infrastructure, not interaction of the presenters. Two very different programmes.

The Model 3 has by far the better value. This car is going to be better on tracks and races than any tesla. On a quarter-mile race, the Tesla will win. This car is probably aimed for more traditional car drivers. Those guys who want a porsche, with great performance but electric. They do want the normale interior and not the minimalist touchscreen heavy one from Telsa. This should be fine not everyone should or have to buy the same car.

even under hard braking those size of discs and xpot calipers are not needed and brake ramping on motors is programed as to how quickly you release the speed control (throttle) and how much pressure you then apply to the brake pedal. I can program the ramp from 100% throttle to 4 wheels beyond limit of tyre adhesion by motors (locked up) and then motors released/modulated by 'ABS' .. We have even gone from full rotation to locked at the tap of 1 key on a laptop ... grin.. was fun :-)

With increasing price of raw materials for batteries there is plenty of companies starting to recycle the batteries, also they are in high demand for second life. What are your thoughts about it being much slower 0-60 than the 6 year old P100D? Does launching over and over outweigh just being outright quicker? I’d also wager Tesla’s software and integrated computer system is more robust and dialed in than Porsche. I’ll bet Porsche has them in handling though. I was disappointed to hear that, so long after the Tesla, performance car companies like Porsche are coming out with EVs that still trail older Teslas in many key categories.

@@TYFLOL I live in 🇩🇪 and work for Tesla in 🇩🇪. I have owned and driven a lot of 🇩🇪🚗 as well as cars from overseas and our own Teslas obviously. Of course I'm biased, but make no mistake assuming what you've read or heard about early Tesla models regarding build quality still stands for when our production is ramped up. I don't attack the Taycan, because I'm really excited for it. If you feel the same way, you shouldn't blame Tesla either for faults the fixed. After all, without Tesla, this beautiful powerful Taycan would likely not be here.

@@grendelum Nuclear fusion is way more effective, and if we want a world of EV cars, ships, and all the stuff, we cannot waster thousands of miles building solar farms that produces most of their energy at noon, where the demand is the lowest - solar panels are great when placed on top of parking and on cities, and also to replace coal and oil in developing countries and Africa, but they have to be replaced, and leave out toxic waste as well. But maybe I was wrong and you where talking about harvesting all the resources of Mercury to build a Dyson Sphere around the sun giving us almost an infinite amount of energy for space travel ? :D

It's not too far off, but sadly they bottled out of having camera mirrors which Honda has managed to include on their cheap city EV, flush door handles which Tesla have been shipping on EVs for years, and suicide rear doors, which BMW have had on their i3 EV for years.

Have to concur with the view here. I'm sure it's a bit of a coup getting the Taycan's first reportable drive. But I'm more interested in getting FFVs off the roads asap instead of how exciting a Porsche Taycan is. To me, the most exciting thing would be to see the last FFV ever to come off any maker's production line. That's where we need to be looking now. Anyway Jonny. Hope it was enjoyable.

@@lemongavine Indeed, and I do agree about the die-hards. Otherwise, why did Tesla have to make cars that outperformed their competition, in the first place, rather then just equalled them. I absolutely get that we need exciting EVs. And you're right, we need them in all forms. But we need to bring on the mass market EVs ASAP. That's when the scales will really tip over.

So it seems that Porsche (and Audi for R8 EV replacement) had to shop to Rimac to get proper sport EV core. Actually, Porsche bought 10% of Rimac if the news are true. So kudos to Rimac. They are in Aston Martin also, Pininfarina literally took the their whole carbon monocoque and built on it their hypercar. There are probably other cars. All, from basically startup from the country that doesn't even have car industry. But is, after all the homeland of Nikola Tesla. Rimac factory is just one hour and half from the village he was born.

Porsche can be conservative with their performance figures. I won't be surprised that the car will perform better than they state it will. I don't really mind if the Taycan is slower than the Model S as long as it handles better and drives like a sports car

I feel that this is the electric car that will be responsible for propelling premium sports car manufacturers into the next era, and equally for getting electric cars recognised as viable by the motoring public. Porsche should be commended for being brave enough to wear their electrons on their sleeve, and paving the way. It's out of budget of almost all drivers I'm sure, but there's a want factor. Anyone can build a fast electric car. Not everyone can make one so desirable as Porsche. Excellent.

Quit patting their back, tesla built the model S wich is where porsha even got the idea of making this car, it even priced and speced similarly, except the tesla is actually revolutionary because it implements FSD hardware and was the first time people didn't scoff at electrics, it was built by a nearly bankrupt tesla in a desperate attempt to recover and survive the 2008 recession, porch safely makes alalectric car 7 years after the model S was blowing people way with its speed andpracticality, ,you praise the wrong people.

Uhm... The day you wrote this the Taycan had already made the Nürburgring record. Which supposedly pissed off Musk and next week Tesla goes Nürburgring. LibC True. And it really doesn’t matter. Those in the market for this car have the financial resources for it, and will get whatever options they want. The only real risk for Porsche will be not being able to make enough of these bad boys as fast as the demand grows, and killing the demand for their ICE range faster than they anticipate. This is NOT a Tesla P100D killer - if anything, it will encourage comparisons and grow the market for it. This is an ICE killer!

I read an article about the price over 5 year period, comparing a Tesla model 3 and a toyota Corolla. The tesla was cheaper over that time, but the initial cost of the tesla Is higher. Low speed fake noise is something between Hyundai Ioniq and Chevy Volt. Not sure why people are so excited about it. Real noise of 2 motors during acceleration is identical to Model 3 Performance. Go try yourself if you don't believe me. I own 2 of those 3 cars. I am so happy Tesla doesn't make fake low speed noise, btw. Acceleration is similar to Model 3 Performance. I am confident that on track Taycan will be better. Double the price though. Hope the battery will have at least 250 real miles of normal driving. I am glad to see that most people do like Taycan, almost no haters, that is great! Finally nobody is complaining about lack of ICE fart. The number of preorders for such expensive vehicle is outstanding!
