Excellent, awesome documentary. The effect of physical inactivity during a long passage is well documented here; Herby and Mattie have done a great job of telling their story with their videos.

Herbie...great job on the drone footage. I especially liked when you flew over the dock showing all the sailboats with the camera straight down! PEACE OUT! Ü

Herb if you like Spam, you should find that salted cod delicious. Horta looks to be a very nice place with lots to see and do. Didn't realize you would loose you legs on the boat did you. Land lubbers again. Too funny. Love your drone shots. Happy sailing.

I didn't see this when you released it - at exactly 4.25 it captures the the boat I had just bought - left hand most boat in the corner of the yard (I am sure you admired how beutiful she was despite the rust. :) I had been there for two weeks in October re-wiring. Mid Atlantic Yacht Service did lots of work on it for me and I sailed it to the UK in Summer 2019. Loved your footage of Horta and the island - one of my favourite places in the world..

Wow that’s so cool!! We loved Horta too. The Azores are very special

Fun video....cool place! A month of hiking there would get one in great shape huh?

Yes!! It was very hard to leave, but luckily all the islands have incredible hikes!

Can't believe that all the exercising you folks (especially Maddie) have been getting on the wet has left you so unprepared for hiking. (Though those "mountains" would certainly be a challenge!) Herb, your adaption to controlling and the drone is remarkable! I realize that it's very sophisticated (and expensive), yet you are very adept, and the vids with it are nice to view - adds a lot to the session! Thanks, great vid!

It looks like there might be some space near the service dock to paint a logo, but if they are faded away eh why not. I need to get into shape too, so don't feel so bad. It happens to everyone.

I was in Horta in Xmas 1973 anchored off for engine repairs. There was very few yacht emblems painted on the dock pavement .Now I see the whole quayside is covered in yacht emblems.

Hi Herb n Maddie.... Love watching your videos, and your candor is great throughout, look forward to a lot more drone footage. Am wondering, do you have sailing to the UK as part of your itinerary. Tony

Not by sail, but we are planning on going there by plane during 2019 (after the refit is finished) What area are you from?

So let me see if I got this straight - whenever you see an "X" you proceed ahead UNLESS it is Blue. (makes me think of Monty Python) That (Moro?) is what I would call a geologic upheaval!

"We don't wanna overdo it, on our first day getting used to walking again, so we're just gonna go climb that mountain over there..." ROFLMAO! Well.. that turned out pretty much as expected. An idea that came to mind some years ago, that I'd like to try and incorporate in my boat, is a set of pedals, like for a bike, adjustable so that it can be used for legs or arms, that turns an alternator. That way, you can get some exercise and put a few amps into the batteries while you're at it. Ideally made in such a way that it can be stowed compactly when not in use. Suitcases? Really? Ummm.. there's a special kind of luggage just for sailors, that folds up and stows away in a very small space.. they're called duffel bags! I have an air-force one that I wouldn't be without.. I can pack so much stuff into it that I can barely pick it up, but it folds up into something the size of a football. It looks a lot like these ones: militaryluggage.com/coast-guard-duffle-bags/
@RiggingDoctor5 жыл бұрын
That is a sweet deal! Now we have folding suitcases that still take up a lot of space. Next time, we are going duffle!

Cool.. I'm glad that you found it useful info. (They're seriously strong and tough, too!)

To get more cinematic clips from the drone slow down panning and all other movements by changing drone settings 😊

Wow! It's very beautiful there, great video. I have a couple of questions, will Wisdom be on the hard all winter, and will you two be living aboard her? Just curious. Also, in the airiel shots of the dock, were those paintings like the one you painted on the wall? I really like the effect....steady on my mateys!
@RiggingDoctor6 жыл бұрын
Hello Mark! Wisdom will be on the hard until the work is completed and we are living aboard (up a ladder every time)! Each one is a painting! We chose to do ours on the wall because it will last longer without all the stepping on that happens on the pier.
@markleyg6 жыл бұрын
Why don't you use your bicycles?
@RiggingDoctor6 жыл бұрын
Herby’s had two flat tires and a lot of rust, Maddie’s was neatly packed and we didn’t want to have to pack it up again so soon. Also, everything is walking distance in the towns.
@markleyg6 жыл бұрын
Rigging Doctor do you think it's worth the space to carry bicycles?
@RiggingDoctor6 жыл бұрын
The jury is out on that one. I think they will be really useful in the Med, but it may have also been easier to just buy used ones there.
@SenatorPerry6 жыл бұрын
I have an electric unicycle, although no sailboat. I always imagined using that would be perfect for sailboats.
