I am having a difficult time understand the mounting of the wheel to the axle. It seems to me the wheel bearing surface must be stood off so to speak and kept 90 degree alignment with the axle. How did you achieve this? At 1:10 minutes in I can view the attached wheel and axle. That is focus of my query. Thanks for sharing.

Glad I could help! How did the maiden voyage go? 12 feet?
@miguelalonso07235 жыл бұрын
@@followtheson5263 Maiden voyage went great! Thinking of getting a trolling motor to get on some lakes that don't allow outboards. Yes, it's a 12 ft..

Nice work I really like it, where do you buy this highway post sign metal at? Do you have drawings on measurements and material locations for this great project,

Sorryt I hadnt check my /this video for 5yrs. No I dont have plans- sorry most of the material is in the video though- did you ever build a trailer? Thanks for the compliment!

Great video. I am going to buy a porta bote before the end of the year. I want to put a non-factory Bimini top on it and need to know the diameter of the black tubing around the top of the bote. What size is the coupling you used to attach the fish finder on the tubing? Thanks

Did yo ever get your porta bote and if so, enjoying it? Sorry I haven't clicked on my video for 5 yrs! Ha! Thank for the compliment on my little helper!

The boat is fine on top of the SUV & accessories inside are fine, no need to build a trailer which is way too much work.

Hello sir. Did you custom make that bow plate? If so do you have any templates to share if any info. I would greatly appreciate it. Well done and nice setup. Best part is your partner in crime. You have a great sidekick 😁
@followtheson52635 жыл бұрын
I used cardboard as an inside template and then aluminum L brackets on each inside for support with bolts and two wing nuts for each side. Yep on the boy angler! Thank you!

What exactly did you use to support your deck plate? Are those pipe straps? 1"? Thx. Great modifications. Thanks for sharing!

Doug- I replaced shown weak pipe strips with stronger 2ea. Short Aluminum L shaped channels underneath the anchor plate with 4ea.- 1/4-20 screws and wing nuts. Thanks!

It's a really good^^. I need to excuse me, because i'm not fluent English. May i ask you something? May be you are no use outboard engine. Why you don't use original transom? and how can you fix porta bote on trailer? is it use a rope with ratche? and id' like know about how can you fix signal lamp on near. i saw signal support clip on your video. are you drilled fix for it?
@followtheson52638 жыл бұрын
I am using a 6hp 2 stroke motor, Original transom was rotted as it was a used bote, keep on trailer by hold-down straps around bow and stern, light bar held with rope in top transom holes, may got to Velcro eventually- thanks for watching!!

Nice job! Wonder if you can get it licenses for that to go on the road?
@followtheson52638 жыл бұрын
eorge Harper Maybe with larger highway rated tires, license is worth researching. These tires are not rated for the highway but sturdy enough for a 2 mile 25 mph run back and forth from campground to ramp. Haven't been stopped yet- fingers crossed. Thanks for the compliment and for watching

Hi! I have an 12 ft Porta bote. They are great! Yours is an 14 ft right? I must ask, how old is your boat? It looks like its been around a while!

awesome video man. I just recently purchased a 12ft porta bote. I was wondering where do you tie the end of your anchor line to on the boat? Also, do you use a trolling motor?
@followtheson52638 жыл бұрын
+TheBeezy562 Congratulations on you PB! I tie the anchor line end to a 5 gal bucket which holds the excess rope. Bow rope lock secures rope. Need to get a digital speed trolling motor, will mount to back transom. I suppose it will drive bote to the right somewhat, but oh well- Have the need to fish! thanks for viewing!
@TheBeezy5628 жыл бұрын
Thank you for responding to me. I would highly recommend a variable speed trolling motor. I just recently bought a minn kota riptide transom 45lb thrust trolling motor. I would opt for a freshwater motor with a foot pedal but my brother and I would also like to fish in the bays and therefore a saltwater boat that didn't break the bank was necessary. Anyways, i love this video and I love your anchoring idea.
@followtheson52638 жыл бұрын
@ TheBreezy562- I read a variable ( I think also called digital) speed trolling motor will help battery last 3 times longer than a multi set speed. Have need to fish whatever is biting! The anchor system saves a lot of stern to bow hassles. Thanks for watching and the compliment!

Porta Boat. some thing you can "Carry" by yourself....... trailer? really ?
@djflashlinx51503 жыл бұрын
not understanding the point to any of this, might as well just have a trailered aluminum boat, complete waste of time.

Sorry, some neat ideas, but the kid is a little annoying on the video. Had to go elsewhere
@ricknelson5766 жыл бұрын
Sorry,but through all that trying to be organized, You have may it all complicated.The trailer part,I have the 10' port a bote. Very easy to carry and set up.5 minutes or less, no need for a trailer.All the other stuff you have done is just crazy. But whatever floats your boat I guess.Just my opinion.
@followtheson52635 жыл бұрын
Haha- granted, but for camping and multiple launches a day with busy boat ramps and the added weight of a 12ft, not as young as I use to be- maybe not so crazy. But I found a better way you might like - tent camp with a 14ft Westcoaster!
@kenwhittle4145 жыл бұрын
I sort of agree with you Rick. I have a Porta bote and have taken it all around Australia with us. Some of those ideas are great. However, the main thing of getting the Porta Bote was not to have a trailer. We never had any need fro a trailer. The only time this rig might be useful is if you wanted to leave the boat set up and go very short distance from water back to camp site etc. I wouldn't trust those wheel barrow tyres for road use either. WIth all that said it was enterraining and gave me a few ideas for building a fishing deck on my P bote.
