My experience with the Bluetti EB70 (716Wh) and a 200W monocrystalline folding solar panel of decent quality, is that I can run my 90l Dual Zone camp fridge, with one zone on freezer and one zone on fridge. And in summer I can run the fridge indefinitely with that setup. Anyone looking at Bluetti for camping will not be disappointed. Probably a good idea now that it is winter to run the same test again.

Interesting, Matt - thanks for sharing. It would be interesting to re-test in winter. Less sun, so less power in from the PV, but also less drain due to less delta-T.

I've got 2 of the Bluetti AC2000, great units and have saved me hundreds of dollars when the house power goes out by keeping the fridges running. I also use one as a weight lift exercise tool. Multiple use devices, cannot beat that.

I just bought one of these, AC 200 max, with 3 x solar panels, it’s provided 100% of my home electrical power for the last 3 weeks. OK, so I live alone in a 1 bed apartment plus it’s summer here in UK right now so prob won’t manage through the winter, but Very happy with my Bluetti 👍🏻

The ac 180 now has a cable for $30 which will allow you to hook up any Bluetti battery pack,the B80 all the way up to the 3000 watt which will give you 4100 watt system.

I got one to use as a second battery for my maverick camper v2 limited. Because I could use it for the solar panels, then using bluette 60 to 24 v to the camper. This will support the AGM battery so it's doesn't over load it. Also if I need that short use of high energy tools or eg coffee machine. Plus I don't need to mode my camper to save money. Thanks, John & Bluetti, for these reviews. Bluetti's always improving its line-up for the different needs & capabilities of potential customers. The AC60 & B80 combo is ideal for the elderly as having them in each hand means that steps or uneven ground can be clearly seen when moving around, which makes it way safer. 👍 As you mentioned, the side weight distribution is less strain on the back, a major plus for anyone with back pain issues. The earthing capability is essential in my world. I never use power tools with an earth-leakage breaker. It's just not worth the risk.

Hi John My name is Steve I have a couple of quick questions I’d like to ask you about the Bluetti AC60. Firstly my wife and I like camping ( without a caravan) would the AC60 last several days just running a 60lt fridge, some low wattage lights and a couple of 240v battery chargers? It would be able to be charged for a few hours via the car each day. And secondly if it is capable of doing that job as believe it would be then I am willing to put myself out and do a long term product review for both yourself and Bluetti at no cost, would that be of interest? Wouldn’t mind one of these for the van and as home backup. I have a generator change over switch that I plug my little Honda generator and it powers the house. Would AC180 or 200 work in the same way? Obviously keeping within the inverter output.

These units do not have a neutral / earth link internally. They would like operate as an IT class device. As far as I know I class operation is actually a regulatory requirement for portable inverters sold in Australia. I don't have one of these units so I can't verify it but I'd expect that the earth terminal on the device is also connected to the earth pin on the AC output sockets. An RCD is not really necessary if this is the case as you require a double fault to have a problem, ie one of the 'live' wires needs to contact something abnormal and then you need to contact the other wire and then get in contact with the first wire or that other abnormal thing to have a hazard. An RCD can work in these circumstances but would require at least a double fault and part of that fault to be upstream of the RCD itself to be capable of tripping since in normal circumstances one of active or neutral connecting to something else would still not provide a return path around the RCD.

@@RussellStewart RVDs are prone to false trips with portable inverters where the DC side - is tied to the frame as would often be the case, either deliberately or through the vehicle's wiring system crossing the tow ball to complete the circuit. It's not at all unusual to see > 100VAC between either of the AC output wires and the frame. It's perfectly safe, faults in the inverter aside of course, as it's capacitive (20ish-kHz and 50Hz) and extremely low current. If there is true isolation between the inverter and frame they are a good solution.

@@retrozmachine1189 thanks for the detailed reply. I’ve had no false trips with mine, but I am running the inverter 100% isolated. I was originally running with an inline RCD but it would never trip even when a fault was induced on purpose. The test unit always presented the “no earth” error. Rightly or wrongly, driving an earth stake was never a consideration for me, as a good earth stake is damn near impossible to get out and I had visions of me leaving a trail of earth stakes around the country for people to trip over. 😂

@@RussellStewart Good that it works for you. Your inverter being fully isolated is the trick. A lot of people don't understand how RCDs work. They don't care about an earth per se. All they do is sense imbalance of current between active and neutral, no matter how that happens.

There are two types of engineers 1st type will instruct a tradie to "do it like I say" and won't listen to suggestions ... 2nd type will listen... Do the math and realize I the job can't be done the way he first thought and correct the instruction...or will explain why his method will be OK. I have run into both types ...the best cure for type 1 is to say "put it in writing"... This usually causes a a type 1 to consult a type 2...

We used an AC 200P Blueetti while camping out the back of the Blue mountains in the wilderness area for 4 days. We have it plugged into the Tesla to give us a continuous supply of 240 volts, which is really handy as when it rained continuously for 2 of those days we did all the cooking inside the tent on the induction cooktop. RCD and earth staking is problematic. Use a RVD (residual voltage device)… no need to earth and a much safer option for isolated power supplies such as generators and inverters.

Just buy a portable jump pack. Keep it charged to about 80% (not 100%, to preserve the battery), and carry it with you always. You can help yourself and help others. *_Project Farm_* has a couple of good shootouts of these products.

With the energy security issues we face as the push coal out having some solutions in you shed will be important. I invested in a Bluetti which is way too much money for me normally, but I now work from home so down time is an issue… and I wanted a solution for off grid potential. Way too big of an inverter but ultimately I can run my house off it. Now I have it in use every day, and take just the battery away camping. Can go 5-7 days without needing power and no solar. Running CPAP, fridge, lights, laptop, phones. It’s been great cause I now use it to power a diesel heater for camper or shed. Now all I need to add is solar panels (renting so I have a cheap eBay flex panel and it’s ok but will get a decent one soon) and I will use this all day everyday and likely discharge overnight recharge and use excess during day. Would suggest it’s worth the investment and very interesting to know what your using each day and how much solar you need to live.

@@offroadingfoz mate, on a budget, just get yourself a 2nd hand house panel, they're consistently better than any flexi/foldable panel and you'll get one for near nothing. To test the panel, measure the short circuit current, what it should be will listed as that (or Isc) on the back. You'll get a good idea of how the panel performs doing that.
