Great tutorial! I just wanna mention, it's actually a good idea to make ALL surfaces on the other side of the door non-portalable (or just put a fizzler right in front of the door). The way you have it now, Chell could go through the door, put a portal on the other side of it, go back out and take the cube off the button, go back in the room via portal, and place her second portal inside, the result being she's trapped herself. Alternatively, she could put the cube on the other side of the door via portals, and then place both portals outside the door, making the cube unreachable.

Turrets are fairly simple. You spawn in npc_portal_turret_floor with the Entity tool and you can rotate them with the bird's-eye view.

Yep, seems like this series is dead unfortunately, sadly there aren't any recent tutorials for hammer too, the best one's I've seen is one from 9 years ago by Arachnaphob and TopHATTWaffle

Great tutorial! Just wanna mention, when placing the portal gun, if you use the Ctrl+M menu, you could edit the Rotate: Z option and it will automatically adjust to how it's needed.

I'm not sure, but if you look in the editor at the view which shows the chamber from the top, the directions there are the same as in the direction selection when you want to define the direction of the movement. At least in this case this is how it is.

To make it till it’s attached to a trigger put a trigger on one side and on the other Then make them both into a trigger multiple separately and attach them like buttons and when you going to the game and you pass a trigger and it should move

I think your antlines disappeared when you used the clipping tool. It must have given a new ID to the surface.

not sure if you still do vids (seeing as your most recent was 8 months ago) but can you do a tutorial that includes prop_door_rotating (like the push doors in old aperture) in portal 2? I've been having lots of trouble with them (their hinges more specifically) and I even tried to pull one out of a single player map (sp_a3_03) and it didn't work even then.

is the "starting team" of the portalgun which linkage id it has? like the console command change_portalgun_linkage_id by default singleplayer is 0, atlas is 1 and p-body is 2, is this the same for the "single-player", "blue", "orange" choice for the gun? and like thats what it changes or is it the model? like with the stripes and what not?

If you're talking about loading a map into Hammer you can simply go File > Open and then navigate to and select the map you want to open.

With that you have a choice. Portal 2 provides a whole bunch of already existing instances that you can import into your scene. There may be one for an observation room with a broken window, but you'd have to check. You'll need to add a "func_instance" entity and then in its properties, make sure "VMF Filename" is set to the instance you want. All the info including the location of the instances in the Portal 2 folder you can find here: developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/List_of_Portal_2_Instances Your second option is to create it manually. You can create broken glass, and/or a hole by simply cutting up and deleting sections of a simple primitive block using the clipping tool. You can find the clipping tool on the left-most toolbar as the 10th option down.
