It could definitely be recency bias, but this has been one of my favorite releases within the last few years. It also doesn't help that it seems like Porter decided to release it at a very convenient time for a lot of people, including me lol

honestly I admire that porter decides to do something completely different every time, if smile was nurture 2 or worlds 2, i would be kind of disappointed, so I really loved this record, amazing video, I can resonate with a lot of your reactions, specifically during mona lisa, I was shocked hahahahahahahah

People who loved worlds complained about nurter and people who liked nurtur complain about smile without realizing porter is all 3. Is super strange. I love them all for totally different reasons.

31:31 “non-stop journey” that why I think the album ends in such a emotional and sad way when it comes to it’s sounds. There’s no epic ending, just more learnings and happy small moments that make us what we are

This album was definitely a grower for me, especially after how head over heels I was for Nurture, but now ESPECIALLY after seeing it live, it's right up there with all of Porter's other music for me. This record is bursting at the seams with emotion, and I love every second of it.

I feel the same. It's funny, Nurture and Smile contrast in so many ways but I think that makes them the perfect pair!

Porter Robinsons lyrics are whole another level. Nuture has some of the most incredible and emotional lyrics ive ever heard. His lyrics have meaning from multiple perspectives and to different people. and its very intentional.❤ definitely a good album to listen to while high

this is an absolutely amazing album, but i also want to say that this video is also absolutely amazing, your insights and tone and things are on point in my opinion, you have silly moments and you have serious moments and i watched all the way to the end and agree with everything. You did amazing with this video and this is honestly so much better than channels ive seen react who have higher subscribers.

Thank you so much! This really means the world to me especially given it’s a Porter related video haha. Glad you were able to relate to my opinions and overall vibe. Appreciate the kind words ☺️

Just like you, I've been a fan of Porter since Language and loved every project ever since. When he announced SMILE I wasn't too sure about this new era but MAAAAAN was I wrong. What a beautiful f'n album. Love it so, so much. He done did it again.

Reading the lyrics really makes me more emotional, especially for Easier to Love You and Everything to Me. Initially listening to them I liked them, but after reading while listening to them again they made me fuckin bawl my eyes out.

Absolutely love your dancing! You seem like you’d be fun to go to a concert with! I really enjoyed all of the singles (although much like you, Kitsune Maison Freestyle was a bit of a grower for me). Very sorry to hear about your cat 🥺❤️ That is really cool though that you made it into the Russian Roulette lyric video! Your whole point about the little vocal intermissions being nice and thematic on a first listen through but throwing off the flow on repeat listens was such a great point and part of why I haven’t gone back to the middle section of the album as much when I’m not doing a full album listen. Absolutely love the last four songs! The ballads and messages in Easier to Love You and Everything to Me really resonated with me. Everything to Me is such a perfect closing track too. Mona Lisa is such a banger!!! Frost Children are awesome! I’m admittedly not super familiar with their music, but I met Lulu at a party early last year and they were really cool! I was super stoked when I saw they had a collab with Porter!! Is There Really No Happiness is incredibly catchy to me and I love the whole vibe. You’re so right that it was nice to get to hear more of Porter singing this album! Even though there was still some really engaging production it also felt more stripped back on several songs. Wonderful reaction! I listened to the whole album five times through in the first 24 hours haha 😅 My favorite single is Russian Roulette, though I agree Cheerleader does everything right. I just love the whole emotional journey RR takes me on. And it feels like a good representative of the album as a whole in that it has some fun and silly lines, some very catchy and uptempo parts, but also gets very slow and emotional too. It was also the first time in a while that a song brought me to tears 🥹 My favorite of the non-singles is currently Mona Lisa, though Is There Really No Happiness is giving it a run for its title. I just got recommended a mashup of Mona Lisa and Divinity this morning that has been on repeat all day! So that’s definitely keeping it on top for me rn.

I thought I was the only one who adored that one part of Russian Roulette lol, I LOVE IT!!

I feel like Mona Lisa is Porter's wife's point of view of his career/fame, at least in the second half of the song which tangentially reminds me of the song Bleed Out by Blue October, which was also in the pov of the main vocalist's (previous) wife I believe, even though both these songs are radically different from each other

I liked cheerleader, Russian roulette, Mona Lisa, and Is there really no happiness. The pop style doesn't really make me feel the deeper emotions and connection i get with the previous 2 albums' artificial and electronic feel, so I don't like this album as much. But i understand that wasn't the goal with smile and im glad i can still enjoy some of the tracks for what they are. Have listened to russian roulette many times

Upon first listen this was pretty definitively my least favorite Porter album. It feels like an album of straight 7s and 8s, nothing bad at all but nothing blowing me away It definitely accomplishes what it set out to though, I’m still smiling throughout this whole album regardless
@koastir965 ай бұрын
this album could have used one more cheerleader type song, its really slow most of the time, which if fine but wish more balance.
