Yup, only made them in 2013. Huge increase in city MPG, not sure why it didn't take off. Gets around 21mpg average (city and highway) compared to 15mpg.

The reason Escalade hybrids are rare is that regular Escalades are doing WAY better on gas than they used to, and the hybrid is barely better at all. But it costs a ton to buy. It's just worse for everything, including the environment. Regarding the plane, on most airliners if it's reasonably full you'll be using about half as much fuel per mile as a Prius. The better jets (787, A350, etc) are pretty deep into the 3 digit seat-mile per gallon range now. Fuel is the #1 expense airlines pay, so they're fanatical about getting consumption down.

@@josefstalin9678 I see the irony in it, but at the same time, if someone really needs an SUV, I'd think every little bit to help reduce its emissions will help. I'm not sure the solution is to just say that nobody can buy SUVs anymore. (And BTW I'm not an SUV owner, I drive a 2009 Volkswagen Rabbit - which isn't a big car but its fuel economy is IMO not as good as I might have expected)

I was at a commercial fueling station today and watched a guy (who lives in a tent at this gas station) shoot up while a cop was putting gas in the rig. What the law says and what the law does have nothing to do with each other in Portland. We have tent cities where they bring in several stolen cars every day to disassemble, right in plain sight next to the Costco. I'm sure that's not technically legal, but the cops don't even have enough manpower to catalogue all the stolen cars, let alone stop the slaughter. The only time you'll ever get hassled in Portland is if you have a decent life and some money for them to take in fines. For example, at PDX if you're picking up passengers as a charter or town car, you need a sticker from the city. The company I work for paid for stickers, and they expired BEFORE they got to us. Which is to say, we still haven't gotten them yet, and the Port Authority won't even pick up the phone, but they do have 4 guys in hi-vis full-time writing tickets to anyone not displaying a sticker. So they'll nail you for pulling a DB Cooper heist like that, but stealing cars and shooting up in broad daylight is certified A-OK in Portland. Rest of the State? Probably better, idk. I actually do believe in decriminalization, but something has to be available besides death on the streets. Portugal, not Portland. I think Oregon is going to go down in history as the cautionary tale of how NOT to do decriminalization.
