That’s the magic of vine/willow charcoal. You can turn an absolute mess into a masterpiece by constant adjustment and experimentation because it flows, moves, rubs and erases fairly effortlessly. It gives you a bit more room to play without total permanency. It’s the absolute best medium for loosening up, surrendering all control and feeling a bit more free and expressive.

I’m so glad to find these videos. I feel like you’re simplifying everything so many other drawing instructors overcomplicate and over-explain with too many lines and rules for a beginner to absorb all at once. This was easy to absorb and I don’t feel too overwhelmed and weighed down with details (some videos by others are so overwhelming that I get to the point that by the time I get to the paper to draw I can’t remember what was explained 😂). You made it fast and simple and made me want to pick my charcoal up immediately and draw. ❤️
