I am always so floored how much depth and life appears in your work after you smudge it all with a paint brush and build from there.

I just love how much character you've managed to capture- that sassy stare. Also great technique, makes me want to whip-out my charcoals and start working :)

Your work is beautiful, are you using willow sticks ?
@JeffHainesArt Жыл бұрын
Thank you Kay! I think this one is probably a vine stick, but I use willow a lot more now.

Hi Jeff Is it always considered a mistake to cut the top of the head off when drawing a portrait? I mean, reaching the top of the paper with your drawing and having the head cut (maybe on purpose). Thanks. Keep drawing
@JeffHainesArt2 жыл бұрын
I suppose it depends on the portrait. May be better to fade the edge out than have a hard-edged chop off. Thanks Fabrizio.

Jeff, your drawings are superb. really love them,,, please can you tell me which kind of paper you use??? following the process don't have the same effects!!!!!
@JeffHainesArt2 жыл бұрын
Thank you Mario! I use Strathmore 400 series drawing pads quite a bit, but not always. This is the toned gray version of that.

What kind of brush are you using to blend?
@JeffHainesArt2 жыл бұрын
It's a soft, round brush made for acrylic or oil painting. I don't think the specific brush is important, but fairly soft rather than stiff bristles will probably work better for you.
