Either Toyama-san puts that much heart into the things he creates, or is *so* confident that he knows his games will leave an impact on us. I’m sure it’s both. Gravity Daze remains as one of the most remarkable IP’s I’ve ever encountered in my years of playing games. To create something so different, yet familiar - bold yet classic - changed the way I perceive the medium of games. I don’t know if he’ll ever see this, but I’ve always dreamed of personally telling him ‘thank you’ for enriching my life with the series. I don’t care to idolize remarkable individuals because it’s kind of dehumanizing, but I would be remiss to not admit that he amazes me. We may never get a third game, but I’m so eternally grateful we got to experience 2 genre defying installments. I wish him the best in his new endeavors, and will happily play the next product that comes from Bokeh Studios.

I love silent hill 1 but also Siren series alot,one thing I loved about Siren series was that it had multiple protaganist. All was "the hero" but ofcourse those that played siren learnt not to get attached to much to one. I also loved how the horror was in lack of better words subtle... It was our world bus still not,dead walked it and something more sinister pulled the strings. I loved that if one really wanted to go deep into the lore one could. I hope this future game has some of those elements in them.

This is mostly my idea. But with everything Keiichiro-sensei says I try to imagine the direction the game will go. Making an analysis of his words, he mentions the time recorded in images, the feelings, what they keep. Also the sketches shown have a lot to do with perception, an example would be the woman inside the garbage can that seemed to have been severed and later revealed that it is a creature. I am very excited to see what kind of game they will present to us.

Not really a shame considering those big budget titles help fund the smaller projects from smaller studios with their success

@@bamban_garcia5562 Sony has shown little interest in funding smaller first party games. They primarily focus on first party AAA or pay temporary exclusivity deals from studios not owned by Sony. @@bamban_garcia5562 Sony get 30% for everything sold on PSN. One year exclusivity deals is to bring value to their ecosystem and make it seem like those games can only ever be played on PlayStation. I get why from a business perspective they've been doing stuff like this. Of course smaller projects aren't the big sellers that will attract millions, but that isn't the point. Between the big AAA release there can be budget focused games for a different market that are unique, experimental, creativity driven games that can take advantage of their very own talented employees to make games for PlayStation. Enough people have been clamoring for a Silent Hill game for years and Sony even had the creator himself and could have given him the opportunity to make a smaller tier AA horror game.
@bamban_garcia55623 жыл бұрын
@@MamoMark Sony Interactive Entertainment also gain 30% for every PlayStation physical game sold besides digital, that being said they have tried the experimental route but sadly those projects were no financial hits thus SIE are wary of funding more when they have not panned out for them almost everytime they tried, SIE funded the creation of Siren Blood Curse besides giving Keiichiro Toyama his own studio Team Siren

I love the Silent Hill series, so much appreciation to Keiichiro Toyama for creating it. I still think it is, and always will be, his magnum opus. Akira Yamaoka was also indispensable for setting the beautifully relaxing, yet horrifying atmosphere in every Silent Hill game. For me, the series went downhill when Team Silent disbanded and then shifted to an array of different developers. I really hope for a revival that's been worth the wait. I'm still looking forward with interest in Slitterhead, though.

Takayoshi Sato works at Nintendo and doesn't plan to leave Kyoto. Same with Masashi Tsuboyama who works at Good-Feel and has no plans to leave Kansai region and move back to Kanto to work in Toyama's studio. Nearly the entire Siren team left Japan Studio except Naoko Sato (Silent Hill 1 scenario). Their freedom was taking away from SIE after several flops. Shuhei Yoshida stepped down as president of WWS to take the responsibility for Japan Studio's failures. Allan Becker retired who was against current AAA climate. Tsutomu Kouno, Keiichiro Toyama, Takamitsu Iijima, etc are all gone. Old fossils who refused to make AAA games are no longer at Japan Studio.

3:17 Yes! I know it gets dismissed as pedantic hair-splitting, but what distinguishes horror from terror for me is the upending of things you'd never thought were in question. Going beyond fear for one's safety into doubts about e.g. your family, your town, your world, your species, your universe, etc. Ordinary people in ordinary situations finding extraordinary circumstances thrust upon them. Crazy sci-fi monsters are scary, sure, but they still hunt, eat, sleep; they're still animals. When the survival threat they present is the extent of the fear, there's a level of comfort one can find in the familiarity of that basic concept. When those motivations and conventions are thrown out the window it's harder to cope, psychologically speaking, and in my view Silent Hill was the first game to do that, or at least the most effective early example in games. No machine guns, no flamethrowers, no elite special forces, no real idea what's going on at all. The series has mostly continued that, thankfully, but nothing does it for me like the first game. As much as I know game development is a collaborative process, and I want to give credit to everyone involved, I still can't help but feel Toyama was the secret ingredient in nailing the flavor of SH that I love so much. I'm absolutely jittering at the prospect of seeing this studio's work, even more so now that I've seen that concept art. Break a leg, Bokeh! I'll be there day one.
