In this episode we begin to explore the parish of Loriga. There are many waterfalls/drill wells in this area also known as Poço da Broca. Poço da Broca quite literally means drill pit and we think this refers to the fact these waterfalls are man-made. We really enjoyed meeting new people and mules, having some tasty food at the Guarda Rios restaurant, hitting some amazing mountain roads with epic views and experiencing the pure natural beauty of the waterfalls in the parish of Loriga in Portugal. It looks like you could take the drone with you this time as the weather wasn't great for a swim so the towel wasn't needed 😅 the lunch at the restaurant was looking really good, I just feel sorry for Jonny for choosing a pudding that he didn't like but, thankfully Sam "saved" him giving her cheesecake 😃 I hope you enjoy meeting the mules Marta and Galileo, during the WWI mules were very important for the Portuguese army during the war as they were the main transport for the cavalry regiment due to the lack of horses 😃 Already waiting for your next video! Haha definitely we weren’t expecting the weather difference but it was certainly too chilly for a dip 🥶 yes I planned the cheesecake in advance just incase he didn’t like it 😅 I know him too well. The mules were beautiful, I don’t think I’ve met one before but been around horses most of my younger years, mules are awesome and these ones had such a nice temperament 😃 oh wow that’s an interesting bit of history I should have included it in the video 😎 Awh thanks so much for staying tuned! It's cool that you guys are catching on the language and in return people are trying to take care of yall. Donkeys are good fun and relentless workers but it's hard because you get one just to realize they are gregarious so now you gotta get another and then for ideal balance they need 3rd wheel xD. Some of those cascatas are better than Gerês and most portuguese don't know about their existence

The Portuguese people are so friendly and we always seem to meet new people through our love of bikes too 🏍️😃 I don’t think we have enough grass at our place for the likes of donkeys otherwise I’d be working harder on Jonny to get some 😅 ahhh didn’t know that 😃 we are going to go exploring and see what we can find 🔍

A lot of creators are dumping their Gopros, because of all there issues. Diji and the 360 are decent alternatives. Great bike tours through the countryside. I was looking at getting a Royal Enfield Himalayan as our support and exploring bike.

I had to laugh at the mules. A friend, rescues farm animals, she actually just takes in wayward or unwanted animals. She took in a mule. When you go near the barn, this crazy animal brays and honks and kicks its stall and will even break the stall chain until some one pets it. Once it has its fill of human contact, it goes back to its stall and waits till she reattaches the chain. They are powerful beasts and will work like no other draft animal....Until they decide they are done. They quit and just walk off. When she got the vet to look it over, she found out mules can live to be 50. Surprise!!!! One of her German Shepherds no longer lives in the house. He has decided he likes sleeping with the mule, so he lives in the barn.

I absolutely loved the mules I’ve never seen ears so large 😅👍 and Galileo enjoyed a stroke. I love that! Both our dogs are rescue animals it’s so nice to see them happy with us in their home. That story is brilliant 😅 so cute that the dog sleeps with the mule. 50 is a good age I hope your friends mule has a good long life 😃 beautiful animal.

Mind you, not all "x" are pronounced the same way in Portuguese. 🙂 6:34 - €1.66 was the diesel price, standard 95 gasoline was the price in the middle: €1.84. To answer Jonny's question: no, the price doesn't vary according to the location, it varies according to the retailer, and Alves Bandeira is probably the one that sells the most expensive fuels in Portugal, so avoid them as much as you can. With the prices they charge, I'm surprised how they're still in business. 8:09 - Whoa! Are you taking Portuguese lessons or are you naturally gifted? 😲 8:35 - 🤣🤣🤣 8:48 - Fun Fact: Guarda Rios is the name of the bird painted on the dishes. You might know it as Kingfisher, since it's very common in all of Europe, except for Iceland and Scandinavia (it can only be found in the south of Sweden). 13:02 - A group of spanish bikers at a river beach in Portugal? 🤔

Thanks so much 😃 I’m learning everyday communicating with the Portuguese people with google translate and they are happy to correct me on my pronunciation 😅 Oh that’s interesting… another fact I’ve learnt is the only tree to have a very different name to it’s fruit is the olive tree; azeitona 🫒 oliveira 🌳 Oh really? I thought petrol was usually at the top and glanced at it but we didn’t know that thanks 😃 No lessons 😎👍 I’m thinking about signing up to practice Portuguese though as I’m not learning quick enough for my standards 😅 Oh that’s cool, another new word learnt 👍 🐦 Didn’t even notice they were Spanish… Poço da Broca da Barriosa doesn’t seem like a typical tourist place but it was fairly busy considering where it is

@@jonnyandsamofficial - The olive tree is not the only tree that has a different name to its fruit, off the top of my head there are at least two more: - Noz (wallnut) -> Nogueira - Bolota (tusk or acorn) -> Sobreiro Fuels in Portugal have colour codes, the same colours you find on the fuel pump nozzles. They're more common on the white label retailers but some brands like Galp and Repsol also use them on the price boards. The colours are: - Standard diesel (gasóleo simples) -> black ⬛ - Premium diesel (gasóleo aditivado) -> yellow 🟨 - Standard 95 octane (gasolina simples) -> green 🟩 - Premium 98 octane (gasolina aditivada) -> blue 🟦 🙂

Following my previous comment, take care with 2 main situation: drivers are, frequently, not careful when overtaking and crossing with red lights. Not so relevant for you, as a motorcyclist, they tend to drive to close to the car in front of them. The same problems occur in UK, but not as frequently as in Portugal.

We don’t see many cars on the roads here in Central Portugal really and we are experienced from riding in the traffic of London, terrible UK country roads and motorways but we always keep our eyes open for potential dangers. Thanks for your concern and information 😃

@@jonnyandsamofficial I know, but that is the reason why you can easily get over confident and, also, that you drive to other parts of Portugal. I do not want to scare you, but just to have those facts in the back of your mind. All the best for you in your new life. Portugal has a lot to offer from the south to the north of the country. A variety of villages, cities and landscape. Even people can be very different.

@@jonnyandsamofficial BTW the pudding that Jonny doesn't like is pudim de ovos ( eggs pudding) and it is made mostly with eggs ( lots..) ,sugar and milk ...and it has a strong taste to eggs yolk... 🍳🙂
