This request also had a very personal meaning to me - not only because I love Portugal's approach to Eurovision, always delivering pure quality and never losing themselves in gimmickry like some other countries do, but also because every suffering soul can deeply feel what Iolanda is singing about with her enchanting voice.💚🇵🇹💔 As I said in my write-up, "Grito" is definitely a lifesaver for so many who don't see a light at the end of the tunnel, and I've been suffering from really dark stuff a lot recently so a musical healer like this is more than welcome in the seemingly hopeless situations I have to face too often these days. We can definitely raise the question whether some of us would still be here if the otherworldly medicine of music wouldn't exist to help them, to help us out of misery, and I'm beyond happy to see that Portugal chose a very different path in comparison to all the dancy uptempo songs this year. A contemplative masterpiece that evokes melancholy while still being an energizer for those hearts who are in dire need of an uplifting message!💚✨️ Of course Iolanda is one of the best vocalists at Eurovision 2024, that's nothing we need to debate about because everyone who listens to her will be blown away. What I want to delve into is the subject matter of mental health: I know from my own experience that it's astonishingly easy to forget about our flame within and to burst into an ocean of tears, so how do we remind ourselves to hold on to the fire inside of us and to see the light that is still visible even if we are surrounded by gloom? I for one realize more and more that the only way to find the flame within is to separate our energy level from those people who are sucking us dry and to focus on ourselves and on the special traits and passions that make us who we are. It's so easy to be eaten up and to be destroyed by the actions of careless and ruthless people who spread nothing but egoism, but it's a form of art to be able to find inner balance no matter what the surroundings are doing. I'm saying all this while I'm still struggling to follow my own advice because a highly sensitive person like me will always have a hard time to be unaffected by negative energy, but at least I wanted to share my own realization of how to find the flame before it's extinguished.🖤 Of course "Grito" is a pretty dark and melancholic pop song with a beautiful Portuguese influence, but even Goths like me can love this entry desperately if they are open to multiple genres of music. "Grito" is pure artistic quality, and the jury will definitely reward this approach of sending a song with great vocal ability and a very progressive flow. However, I'm sure we can have both ballads, Portugal AND Serbia, in the final - and that's where both belong, just like they already found a home in my yearning heart. Iolanda is a beautiful soul, a mesmerizing artist, and Portugal absolutely made the right choice! Looking forward to support "Grito" with all my energy throughout the whole season...💚🇵🇹💔

I am portuguese and I usualky don't don't care about Eurovision but when I lustened this girl was in tears. Itvus indeed a contempirary way of presenting our musical tradition. The way she sings is a goid fusion with the pirtuguese traditional music, named Fado ( Fate; burden), the voices are soulful, emotional but at the same time ppoweful. We are a melancholic people and this song rrepresents this colective mind of ours very well

The mixture of styles and the way they flow into each other and progress and change throughout the song really tells a story, and helps to convey the emotions of the already incredibly expressive vocals and lyrics, combined with the performance of the dancers it becomes even more powerful! Even though the story belongs to a struggling soul and the sound is melancholic, it is a very empowering story and embodies the spirit and emotions of courage and resolve.
