Speaking as a local, Santiago is definetly NOT the locals' favorite to eat a francesinha. If you ask most people in the city they will name a lot of different places, and Santiago is hardly ever mentioned. That restaurant has become mostly directed to serving tourists, but any person who has only ever eaten a francesinha from Santiago hasn't really tasted a true francesinha. a little side note: they mention that they took out the spiciness of the sauce which is basically killing the dish; a good francesinha has to have a little bit of spice in it, otherwise might as well be simply called a wet sandwich

It's not actually transalted as "little french lady". The "little french" would be more accurate. The "lady" part comes from the fact that all of our nouns are gendered, and this one is gendered female. Yes "french lady" is also a translation of "francesinha" but that's not realky the logic they were using. It's hard to explain unless you're familiar with the language

As a person who lived in Portugal for a year (specifically Braga a city that is near Porto) I see a lot of people saying that this dish in unhealthy, I get it, but I also feel like this isn’t the point of the dish, most of my Portuguese friends only eat the Francezinha at most once a week, in general it’s not like they eat it everyday, also I tried Francezinha and although it was absolutely delicious it was super heavy and I had to share it with one of my family members, I think Francezinha is a great dish that you should definitely try if you have the chance to, love Portugal from HK ❤️
