We have a strong Portuguese heritage here, among others - we are a mini United Nations So fun. Our Portuguese butcher shop sells this pan. We are grateful because it's unavailable in town unless there is a festival at the FESM Hall. SUCH good food. I would use this bread for any of the King Hawaiian Roll recipes.

This looks like a very nice sweet bread recipe! I would probably not bother with the raisins, since I'm not a big fan of raisins in bread, but it does look like it would still be delicious without them! I'd probably just do a three strand braid, too. The four strand just looks way too complicated to me. I guess it really is hard to teach an old dog new tricks! LOL ;)

I've read that the original Portuguese Sweet Bread recipe was brought to Hawaii by Portuguese immigrants, and is the basis for the popular Hawaiian Rolls. Thank you for sharing this.
