In positive thinking, I love the expression "iron into gold" - when a painful scenario presents itself to me, I take the position of a student of life. I then do my best to regard it as a lesson about my own emotional reactions and I also look at it like an opportunity to cultivate mastery of the situation. I'm grateful for my challenges.

I am trying to improve myself as positive thinker. I have been doing it around 2 weeks now, it really works. I accept things as it is, I am trying to stop imagining, classifying, comparing, overthinking, trying to impress and please others and it really works, I am much more confident and I really like it. It is quite a challenge and I felt it, it will take months get this ability. Now, when you said still be cheerful when somebody dies in your family, at my subconscious level a little war started. Should I be %100 cheerful when somebody dies very close to me ? or Should I just cry and accept it is a loss but do not overthink or worry about ? Curious about your way of thinking about this ? Thanks

Completely true, the times in my life I've truly allowed myself to let go and just let it be, have no pretence that I can control the outcome, have no investment in the outcome of anything... this is true enlightenment, it removes all fears and allows you to be completely alive. It can be forced if you build up to it with a strong mind, but practise is needed for remembering to be mindful about letting go.

Now I try to think positively all the time, I am quite an optimistic person. People here worry all the time and I think that I come across as being a little naïve at times. I know that I am not however. People here just worry and there's no need for it but why do I feel silly for being lucky enough to not take on other peoples worry and stress. Really though I suppose I feel blank because I don't worry and at times I feel empty.... Please help!!!!!

This was absolutely my outlook on life before seeing this as well. Complete acceptance of bad things before they happen if it's inevitable or in the realm of happening. Picturing myself in a situation and how I would react to that well in advance. It really nullifies any negativity with such events. For example, people may disapprove of me for not being upset at the loss of a loved one, but reality is just what it is, and there's no reason to compel myself to actually be upset about it because it's inevitable and already set into reality.

Leo just wanted to let u know that u r extremely appreciated ur content changed my life! 1) But What if I find myself in a life or death situation, isn't worrying there useful? -as it will push me to take a certain action that may potentially save my life. 2) also, are you implying that worrying is The Reason why we procrastinate, experience resistance and don't take action? -Feels like worry pushes people to take action. otherwise why even take action at all? And I know that everything is awareness and I hope to have an advance direct experience of it one day. however, I also understand that life is a gift and I am still attached to my egoic self. 3) Isn't it ok to want to live and experience life? 4) what's wrong with being attached to the egoic positive part of myself? - The ones driven by my heart. if there is such a thing?

Dear Leo, I hope you see this text from me. I sat in a meeting yesterday for 1:30 hour , just being criticised about my work, behaviours, the way I speak, just about everything . I sat thought it only because I stayed positive and gave up on worrying about what was going to happen. Yes I need this job at the moment. All because I stood up to my manager as her behaviour was very demoralizing and patronising. Yes it did not go down well and since than she has taken every opportunity to make me feel bad. Yes, I have made mistakes at work and this has not helped me.
@montgomery12310003 жыл бұрын
How do you know it hasn't helped you. It could be a blessing in disguise. It could be happening because a better opportunity awaits and you cannot have them both. Maybe it is ordained, Providence. I get what you're saying about having an unshakeable centredness in positive thinking, I would like to challenge you on the idea that the usual process of grieving indicates there's much growth to take place. Emotions are what makes us human, our ego is what makes us human. When a person dies, there is no way one cannot feel heartache,(this is not a negative emotion for me, but part of an experience of losing someone forever in this life). I know I could have a cheerful centerdness but still experience that profound emotion, and by getting through that pain I would grow. The Tibetan monks devote their lives to living behind the walls of a monestary, they let go of ego, they don't experience life as we do, they're one purpose is to reach a Nirvana state, to do this they don't engage with the systems of the world, they don't experience anything that's sensual, no indulging in the flavours of food, the physical rewards of sex, they don't have a job, they are not exposed to the stresses of life. they live in a Zen state flatline! and avoid anything that is of ego. They have to do this in order to reach that state of Nirvana. As long as we are in the world as we know it, experiencing all the beautiful challenges and great moments there's going to be a rollercoaster of emotions, full detachment of these emotions just aint possible! Perhaps another way to explain this concept would be, if in one's daily living where there is nothing happening "out of the ordinary" and one finds themselves crying that's an indication that there's some major work that needs to be done. If nothing has changed in that person's life but they are able to be cheerful in every moment - that would be a true indication of great work being done. Am I clear? would love you feedback thanks Leo
@ActualizedOrg10 жыл бұрын
Your understanding of enlightened people is flawed. I have been mentored by an enlightened person. He used to be lawyer. Now he's retired. He still lives an active life. He has business duties, he's not against sex. A Zen monk is capable of interacting with the world in all it's fullness. They are not running away from indulgence. You can have sex and eat whatever you want and still be enlightened. Just because monks don't do it doesn't mean you can't. Monks just observer certain cultural etiquette. If a Zen monk did engage in sex, it would be a much more amazing experience for him because he is able to be fully present throughout.
@juliebega761110 жыл бұрын
Oh cool thanks so much for replying, I do believe we can all be enlightened and be in the world. Reaching a state of nirvana is something very different, that can only be achieved when there is no ego, being in a state of nirvana frees one from all worldly bonds. There's a very big difference between the two concepts. So yes association with "Those tibetans" immediately got me thinking Nirvana. Enlightenment sure we're all working towards that, it's not just something that happens for the few in foriegn countries, and that makes a lot more sense now we're on the same page lol.
@ActualizedOrg10 жыл бұрын
***** No. Enlightenment is Nirvana. There's no difference. You're not really free of worldly bonds, you are just free of yourself and this allows you to be in the world more fully. Enlightened people aren't who you think they are. You're going by stereotypes, myths, and caricatures.
@juliebega761110 жыл бұрын
Leo, we should just agree to disagree on this subject. I really do go by the proper term of what the state of Nirvana is, it's not an opinion(look it up in an encyclopaedia of eastern philsophy that'll help you get some clarity) one of the comments someone posted did the steroetyping not myself, as I believe we are all on the path to becoming enlightened, please read my comment again.. " those Tibetans" was an exert from a comment from someone else. I hope to never be that short sighted that I would go by steroetypes, myths, and caricatures. I really make it my life's work to get to the real stuff and ask questions, so having someone say such a thing couldn't be further from the truth, but all good, can't think you can know someone after a cpl comments. Yeah so I'll be loving your personal development material, but after 10 years studying the different philosophies I'll stick to the facts in that area. X

Love your videos Leo and I follow you and have watched many. I wanted to say something about remaining cheerful even if when someone we love dies ... I think when someone like that dies it does affect us and we (each one differently) has to go to a mourning process and deal with their feelings but I agree, keep in mind that it will pass and you will go back to living your life and having a positive attitude and be happy again and not stuck on the sadness or mourning period for too long. These pillars make very much sense and should be mental habits of everyone, but I think why most people fail is because unconsciousness fades in quickly after listening to this and we retrace to the old negative mental habits, this is why we should make the effort to practice these ideas until they replace the old.

Leo I need your help. All my life I've been a worrier. Worried about this thing or that thing, this person or that person, this ache, this pain. When I was little my mom sheltered me a lot and every time I had the tiniest ache or pain she kept me home from school, put me on medicine, all of that. So I kind of understand why I am how I am now, but I don't want to be this way anymore. I want to be positive and I feel like I am, but worry has been with me for so long that I literally can't imagine being free of it. But it's taking over my whole life. How do I get myself to understand wholly & completely that worry is useless when I've been doing it for so long?

Every good psychologist will tell you that after the death of the people you loved, there is a "mourning period" - a time to mourn. Some people mourn one months, some a year or two. This is individually different. This period should not be interrupted by only pragmatic reflexions like "what does it bring me?".
@rammoudgalya574510 жыл бұрын
Literally helped a lot leo
@brechtethereal21593 жыл бұрын
One question about the logic, when you say that cheerfulness is the best response to a situation where someone dies. How do you align that with the need for a human being to process loss. Crying and talking about a loss is something that most humans need to recover from such an event and process/externalize the emotions. I think everyone has felt the benefit of catharsis. How can you ever do that while you remain cheerful?
@MacAlanBrown8 жыл бұрын
I love this, best video and excellent inspiration, thank you so much for Your channel bro!!!
@ZandoFox9 жыл бұрын
Hey, Leo! (lol) The second pillar, or letting go of worry. I have a question about that. I define worry as "fear" or "anxiety." Is it really possible for any human not to be afraid or anxious about *anything?* I understand that fear is often maladaptive in day-to-day life. But here's a situation where some anxiety might be useful. If you are walking along a cliff, isn't it useful to have some worry/fear/anxiety about falling? If you have no fear at all, you will get closer and closer to the edge. But this worry would cause you to take a useful action -- that is, staying away from the edge. We obviously evolved worry/anxiety because of its usefulness when things were more dangerous for humans. But even now, it has its uses. In other words, if there is a good chance that something will go wrong, it's better to let the worry motivate you to prevent the bad thing from happening, than simply ignoring the worry and allowing it to happen.
@ActualizedOrg9 жыл бұрын
Interestingly enough, no. With the cliff example, just because you don't feel anxiety or fear doesn't mean you will jump off a cliff. You'd have to be stupid and/or suicidal to do that. Are some fears natural? Sure. And you will not get rid of all fears. That is not the goal. The goal is to stop being a slave to your fears and to take the suffering compontent out of the fear. Most modern-day fears are groundless and neurotically driven. Real fear -- like when you are being chased by a hungry lion -- is rare and not really a problem because it naturally disapates quickly.

I wanna know how to master muscle memory. As I can always choose to uplift myself and intern that uplifts most others. It's a choice. Not what happens to you but how you redirect that inward or outwardly. Hurt people hurt people. Muscle memory is different. I've forgiven and forgotten but my subconscious knows. If I could breath I'd just nonchalantly breathe work it out. Conscious would. It's instinctually triggered by something I don't always know what. All I know is that it will pass. I'm not embarrassed or avoid. I don't give in to muscle memory it still consumes me and its not hypervigilant. I'm not anticipating it . It just comes upon me without warning. I agree that radical positivity is an excellent way to go about life, though I will say that I personally believe the ‘cheerful through mourning, what does sadness do for you?’ statement doesn’t ring true for me.
