Old school term is king pin inclination, but yeah, this helps real cars return to centre and stable at speed. Excellent video!

THANK YOU! Now I understand why it's said positive caster will improve stability. Swivel caster wheel helps a lot.

Good video and demonstration but if I may add a little constructive critique; the example of the swivel caster is incorrect. When the caster wheel center (blue dot) is behind the pivot point (mounting bracket above), this is an example of negative caster. Negative caster has the wheel load projected behind the where the wheel contacts the ground. This is why the wheel swivels and follows the pivot that it is mounted from. This also makes it unstable at high speeds. When the wheel center (blue dot) was in front of the pivot point above in the video, that is an example of positive caster similar as the vehicle. However for this example, there is no lower arm (because it is a caster) to keep the wheel in place and hence it wanders all over the place. Positive caster has the wheel load projected in front of where the wheel actually contacts the ground making it track straight, return the wheels to center after a turn and very stable at high speeds. A good example is a bicycle's front wheels; the reason why one is able to (with practice) let go of the handle bar and have the bicycle riding straight. Once again constructive critique, I understand a lot of time, skill and effort has gone into making this video and do not wish to take away from any of that. Cheers

Effectively you just build the typical front axle with suspension, but when connecting it to a chassis you connect it vertically, same as what I did with my baja truck which was a huge success but was driven by a lunatic XD. But you’ve summed this up great, great vid as usual 👍

Hi, awesome video, but you forgot the second benefit (wich is useless for lego vehicles) : with caster, the wheels also get to lean into the corner (the top of the wheels closer to the center of the corner), and at speed, the tire will deform in a corner, wich is cancelled by the leaning of tire to make sure as much of the tire as possible makes contact. Only recently learnt this though.

+Quinten Luyten Thank you! That is true, and as you say, in the world of LEGO it doesn't matter really. Which is why I chosed not to mention it in the video. For the case of simplicity🙂

I am car maintenance in Korea. In Korea, there is a cargo truck with a front axle integrated axle, When the straight-ahead stability is very poor and the road surface in the vertical direction is running It has unstable characteristics to move the lane The caster reference value of the truck is 0, so I try to change it to positive. I looked at this video while looking for various data Thanks to the video, I have come to know exactly how the positive caster changes the straightness. Thank you, and I want to know how to buy the product.
