Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! You saved me from totaling out my daughter's car. I'm so happy after watching your video. After going through the car top to bottom I followed your video step by step with limited amount of electrical testing tools. I tested 1,2,3,5,21,62. 62 - the red/black wire had only 3 volts running through it and as I moved the loom around it shut off completely. My wiring loom was untouched. I started cutting it back, the wires looked perfectly clean but about a foot away you could tell the wires had been getting wet and there was dirt mixed in. Then a saw an area of green corrosion that led me to the point that the wire was broken. I didn't actually see a break in the wire but it was definitely corroded inside the wire coating.

Great Video! I'm new to the VW scene. I watch the video w/scannerdanner. Since you are an VW expert, let see if You can help me. I have a 2012 VW Jetta SE (manufacture 9/11) with "link error" on scan tool. All fuses/relays good, New battery. However, R/ turn bulb, R/ mirror & R/ taillight solid "on" had to remove fuse F48(20a). No: Turn Signals/Hazards, Pwr Win/Locks (but they are illuminated), Horn, F/ 12v Socket, A/C controls (no pwr), Interior Courtesy lamps/lights, Brake light/tailligts (when pedal press or headlights Lights on), "Park" light on, Key Fob,Eng Light on, "Wrench" Symbol "on", & Battery not charging (no light in cluster). I assume was the Vehicle Electrical System Control Module J519 (BCM PQ25, 2 plugs), but I don't know if the Data BUS OBD interface J533 is integrated or not, because I don't know how to identify my BCM PQ25, meaning "High or Low" version. Since the scan tool get "link error", I'm leaning to the CAN Bus. What are your thoughts? Opinion?Advice? Thanks, Have a bless day!
@PositiveLeadDiagnostics Жыл бұрын
When you say link error, do you mean no communication with your scan tool? The gate way is separate from the bcm. To tell if it’s high or low system. The bcm will have 2 connectors if it’s low and 3 connectors if it’s high. What’s history on the vehicle ? Any water leak issues? Are any fuses missing? Pretty common for water intrusion that leaks directly into the bcm. I would definitely be looking at my network voltages at the gateway. I think the gateway has a red connector to the right of the steering column.
@lovergirl911007 Жыл бұрын
@@PositiveLeadDiagnostics Yes, "link error", no communication with scan tool. Its a "low" system J519 T73a/T73b with integrated J533. and Yes Water Flood. Fuses good.

I have an 08 Wolfsburg that shut off during a snow storm. A few other mechanics did a few tune up things and now it has a misfire from hell and about 30 codes (all low voltage or implausible values) found an aftermarket alarm/ amplifier cluster F that had shorted and took out the ecm fuse also killed the lift pump and burned up the hpfp, a air temp sensor wires were dead shorted, and the 12v feed to a module under the steering wheel was shorted. After removal and repairs it still has a ton of codes and misfires. I think I have a hidden short or the ECM is cooked. Idk but I've tested every relay fuse and connector to do with the motor and they are good.

@jasonkimball36432 жыл бұрын
Because customers don’t know about cars and think we just instantly know where the problem is. Electrical issues take time and can be a nightmare. But to them you should know exactly where the problem is instantly.

Have found evidence of the wiper motor arms coming in contact with that wire bundle connection the ECM on a 2005. Also found evidence of moisture inside the ECM. On this car I found the drain holes were stopped up by leaves in the area under the ECM that caused snow and water to cover the ECM wires. Could be the reason VW changed the ECM location on the MK6 cars.

Nice video Tommy. I am curious to know if this CAN signal distortion is a VW only issue when a power supply is lost or whether or not it is the same for other manufacturers. In your other video with Danner you went back and questioned the resistance of the TCM CAN lines and was curious. This led you to look further. I am not sure that an issue inside the module would pull the reading up or down since the TCM did not have one of the 120 resistors inside itthat returns the 60K value. I think your logic to question replacing the TCM was good but am still not sure that even if the TCM was at fault that you would have seen a different value as the testing is all done powered down and all these lines carry are messages. Still a great catch none the less. Maybe we will have to wait until a faulty module is found and check the CAN resistance then to know for sure what goes on. Thanks for the video

Engine: 01315 and 01314. I have checked the two orange wires running the ECM to the TCM and they look good and continuity checks OK. I have checked all fuses and none is blown. I have checked the ground point for looseness or corrosion, everything looks ok.The car drives fine but after sometime, it will not shift off from gear 3. When you turn off the car and restart it, it drives fine again. I have ordered for a new G68 sensor but was told from Ross tech site to fix the 01314/01315 codes and everything will be fine.
