Mind blown. I’ve had my model three for almost 2 years and I didn’t realize that when you look at the supercharger map on your navigation any charger that you could get to is listed in full color and the ones you couldn’t make it to our grade out. I prefer to go to as many superchargers as possible on a road trip instead of as few as possible so I can maximize the charging speed. It also allows me to use the restroom and get a new drink. I feel like this one small bit of information will really help me figure out my routing for future trips. Thank you for sharing this.

I got my UK blue Model 3 SR+ with FSD on 29th June 2019 and racked up 10,107 miles since then. I had a screen issue (reversing camera) which solved itself, the left front wheel arch was contacting the body behind the door closure (I straightened it with a flathead screwdriver in 10 seconds) and the drivers door filled with water from the bottom up when I drove through a flooded country lane. A Tesla mobile technician came out to realign a hydraulic boot strut which was catching on the rubber rain seal during opening/closing. The car is brilliant and the charging network was a godsend when I spent every spare day in January/February driving back and forth between Norwich and Stafford to visit my mum during the final stages of her terminal fight with dementia. I'm so glad I got the opportunity to spend time with mum before she passed and feel for those who can't visit dying relatives in hospitals and residential homes up and down the country during this pandemic.

I’ve got 20K miles on my Model 3 Performance in 7 months of ownership. It’s been completely reliable. I actually sold a Honda Accord to get my Model 3 because my Honda had so many problems. I’m in the US if you hadn’t guessed. Anyway, my 2018 Accord 2.0T Touring (nicest, most expensive, fastest trim level) cost about $36K. It had paint defects all over the trunk, door jambs, etc. The 10-speed transmission shifted like an 8th grade student learning to drive stick. It just clunked up and down all ten ratios. Talk about something that gets annoying... when you have ten gears and each one is rough, you soon find how bad a bad transmission can make your car ownership experience. After 5 visits to two different dealers I was done. Honda of America refused to send anyone to look at the car. They said whatever The dealer said was what I must go by. The dealers tried saying ALL new 10-speed Honda’s shifted like crap. Anyway, I got my Model 3 Performance and haven’t looked back since. It’s much more enjoyable to drive than the Accord. Namely there lack of gear changes is welcome. I either want a manual where I control the gear changes or I don’t want any transmission (like in all EVs except the Taycan).

I bought an SR+ last summer. It's amazing. I agree with everything you say, although I've never had any boot drippage, the gutter seems easily wide enough. The biggest negative I've found is the doors freezing shut in the winter. I can warm the car before I get into it, but then I can't get in. The handles freeze shut and the glass freezes to the door seal. Besides that, this thing is outstanding. All other cars are stupid.

Hi Robert and the Fully Charged crew! I think this is one of the best Tesla videos I’ve seen. Not many people give balanced reviews, they always sway one way or the other regarding Tesla or electric cars in general. What I found most interesting was the navigation walk through. The screen is a big part of the Model 3, and upcoming Model Y, and getting to know that screen through Fully Charged would be a great way to show people just how good, or bad, the Tesla software is. If possible it would be amazing if you could produce some videos focused around the Tesla screen. Also on the boot lid point. Tesla have since made the channel between the rear window and the seal wider to stop any water running into the boot/trunk/cargo hold. Thanks and stay safe everyone!

Robert, a suggestion for a topic to cover while locked down...... In 2018 I took a huge leap into the unknown and changed my low miles 3 year old Range Rover Sport SDv6 HSE Dynamic for a new Mini Countryman SE All4 PHEV. I very quickly learned a few things about PHEV driving that surprised me but the most surprising was that even with the Mini’s minute pure electric range I could probably skipped the PHEV stage altogether and gone directly from pure ICE to pure BEV in one step - more than 80% of my motoring now I have retired (as of yesterday after a few years of being semi retired) even in the Mini can be made in pure electric mode. So how about a guide for those considering making the move from a PHEV to and BEV? I love the Mini Countryman, it is full fast and frugal but the new Mini -E doesn’t have the winter electric range for my twice monthly 130 miles round trip from rural central Scotland to Edinburgh - so what are my options especially as I’m used to 4WD and AWD cars (and still have a 1996 Land Rover Defender 90 for when things get really bad with floods and snow!) - should I go New Tesla Y, Used Jaguar I-Pace or reduce to 2WD a consider the Kona-E or the E-Niro. I’m happy o wait and see if JLR survives C-19 and wait for a PHEV NewDefender to replace two cars but equally happy to keep the 93000 miles 24 year old 90 on my drive as it was bought as a toy and continues to be used as one. Thanks

Agree with pretty much everything you said. We've had our Model 3 Long Range since the middle of November and already done 11,000 miles. It is by far the most comfortable, easy to drive and fun to drive car we have ever owned. A quick look at our electricity tariff (Octopus Agile) shows we paid on average 5.6p/kWh to charge it. Assuming 2 miles per kWh, that's £308, or a shade under 3p/mile. Plus - and this is the best bit - we can still claim mileage expenses at standard HMRC rates. Assume that half our mileage was a claimable expense, at 45p/mile, that's £2475. Take away the cost of the electricity and the finance repayments and we're actually making money driving the car.

Some much ambiguity removed, Tesla truly grasps the gripes with industries not up to speed with the Information Age (traditional ICE) [the tangibility of pointer references] and knows how to-all-encompass.

How many more great videos can you eek out from your house Robert? Doing well! Keep going! 🙂

Thanks for a great review Robert! Model 3 is arguably the best sedan anyone has made so far, bot objectively and subjectively. It's incredibly efficient, drives as well as any BMW or Mercedes, and Model 3 Performance is quicker than a BMW M3 or Mercedes AMG C63. And Teslas are all 100% electric which means they can be charged from wind, solar, tide, etc.

Inverness coming in 2020 plus Fort William to the West and Aberdeen to the East of you. The most Northerly Tesla Destination Charger is at the Orkney Distillery (!)

One minor quibble, the charger port should be at the front of the car. KIA/Hyundai got that detail right. But Tesla's charge port design (hidden) and slick operation (flip up/flip close) is so cool.

So, you have phantom braking? Tesla Bjorn just did a couple of videos on that.

Good review thanks Robert, agree on all your points especially the supercharger network which I had not really thought about when I bought it. It is wonderful. I've had my SR+ for 8000 miles and in general love the car. Was surprised you made no mention of the following for completeness..... problems with water in the rear lights which you seem to have avoided. It seems a very common problem and, only now it is 1inch deep in one of the lights have Tesla agreed to come and replace them. They said condensation was 'normal' earlier, an odd definition of normal. Also - no mention of the wipers, auto wipers seem to wait for the screen to be nearly opaque in British Drizzle?

Love when you make the sounds that car makes when it gets near a tractor trailer 😁😄

You forgot the auto high beam is rubbish and the auto wipers don’t know what to do most of the time. The service centres are overloaded and people are waiting weeks for an appointment to get things fixed. Being able to call a service centre for an update would be better too. Although Tesla’s breakdown service is very good and you feel looked after when you have a breakdown. I agree that panel gaps and paint are not too important - we seem to have been conditioned to expect tight panel gaps and perfect paint, but as you said as long as I’m not getting wet I’m happy. I would recommend mud flaps too as the paint behind the wheels gets damaged easy.

Nice one Robert! Thanks for making this video. Before we formally commit to an id.3 we test drove a 3 a few weeks ago. I was surprised by the amount of wind noise around the wing morrors at 130km/h. We already have a golf GTE and can cruise at 130 all electric and actually think that the wind noise is less in the golf. Any one else noticed this?

"The whole point of this is not to be a Tesla fanboy, which I really really don't want to be" :'-D And the rest of the 15 minutes is talking very highly the car ;-) ... and you are right - I drove the car (same car, black, AWD, long range, 75kwh) for almost 20000 miles now: I loved every mile of it so far -- nice channel, thanks.

That's a real 'lockdown'. In the US, it's state-by-state and although the traffic is reduced, it's far from eliminated where I live. That said, thanks for sparing us too much virus talk. It's nice to have videos like yours available, especially from a non-'fanboy' perspective. Pity Tesla doesn't make a smaller car. Maybe someday.

Throughout the video, I kept thinking. Just how much is Roberts Model 3 going to keep sinking into the grass!
