I saw Watcher at home and I really loved it, I heard it was slow so I was worried I’d be bored but I thought the tension was so great and I was always on the edge of my seat even if it was just Julia walking around or the two characters talking, I also love the tension that the unknown language added as well as it’s pay off

I think when you’re open about liking films that are often critically panned, you earn the right to be critical of movies people often like. You’re super honest about your taste and what works for you and doesn’t, and you’re very self aware when it comes to your “guilty pleasure” movies. Opinions are just opinions and these are just movies. I always love hearing you talk about them.

I watched the Watcher at home, and I absolutely loved it. Maika Monroe was so good and the small details like her tears staining her silk blouse or the stalker leaning slightly into her personal space at the movie theatre are just CHEFS KISS.

No, no, no, you are never too harsh! As a critic, you must be honest. My favorite critic of all time, the late great Roger Ebert (I'm old!) could really skewer a movie. And some movies I liked he totally ripped apart. And I love your sense of humor ("....the horror graveyard where horror movies go to die" LMAO). Stay true to yourself! Keep the faith!

I loved the theater experience for Watcher as well, even more so because I was literally the only person in my theater and I’m a woman who’s Maika’s age so *that scene* really hit. I saw the Thing at an indie theater years back in “heckle-vision” so it had lots of audience interaction and everyone there were huge fans, it is hands down the most fun movie-going experience I’ve ever had! So glad you got to see it on the big screen as well.

You're definitely not too harsh. It's your channel, your opinions, and tbh if anyone dislikes that, that's their problem. You're a movie reviewer, and even if you're "just a KZbinr" (which is absolutely valid! It doesn't mean your opinions mean less) there are so many people who enjoy your thoughts and opinions. Keep being honest--you shouldn't have to water down your thoughts.

I'm a Cronenberg fan, and I definitely think you should give his stuff another shot! I didn't care for Crime of the Future, but a lot of his movies exist on a spectrum of body horror and sexuality, so there are movies that lean more into one or the other. 5:48 I'm gonna have to watch this. That reminded me when I was 14 and went to Germany with my grandma. She's from Schwetzingen and speaks both German and English, while I only knew English. So her sisters, their husband's, and their children all only knew German. When we had dinner my grandma would be talking to them laughing and I'd just be sitting there like, "ahaha but not really knowing anything they were saying. I'd keep asking my grandma to translate, and they'd ask her to translate for them. Which got tiring for my grandma of course. There was one day where my grandma's sister's kids (I'm better at math than family trees so whatever that is in relation to me lol!) But they asked me to spend the night. They said we'd all go to this castle and garden area, get food, and then drop me off in the morning. My grandma let me go, but I was definitely anxious. They had a German English book to try and translate, but we played chess together and although we didn't understand each other's languages we still had a great time. There were definitely times though when the loneliness of not knowing what anyone is saying and being a teenager myself I was insecure. So at times I wondered, "what if they're talking about me?" But that quickly went away because they made me feel very welcome and my grandma is an amazing woman. I wish I valued that trip better though. I was gone for a month and of course because I'm 14 and had a bf (if you'd call it that) I got homesick. About the 3rd week in I was really missing home. They had amazing ice cream there, but a waiter tripped and spilled coffee all over me lol. They had Eminem on the radio which I thought was crazy cause that night I was hanging out I was singing to the song and they were shocked I knew all the words. So that was funny. I enjoyed seeing all the animals at the zoo I went to. It was an open place so as I was walking through this garden area I had a peacock befriend me and follow me side my side the whole way til I left. I got to see otters playing and going down this waterfall type thing up close that was adorable to watch. I got to get super close to the tigers and watch them feed, which was so much more different than I was used to back home. Now that I'm older I wish I could do it all again. I'll always remember that trip. I couldn't imagine having someone watching me in a situation like that though. I already felt isolated and was anxious. It would be truly awful. I'll have to give Watcher a watch.

Hi Sarah, I sincerely enjoy your videos. I was wondering, I know you aren't very well-read with classics, but I love to see your thoughts on Washington Irving's The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, I love to see you compare that book, with the adaptations like the 1949 Disney film version and the Tim burton version. Also, I want to let you know is that you might have difficult time reading that book because of the language, the book was published in 1820, so the language is different than how modern books typically read. I know you aren't into animated films; I love to see your thoughts on The Adventures of Mr. Toad and Icabod Crane 1949 film, that version (I'm talking about the Icabod segment) is narrated by Bing Crosby.

as far as Crimes of the Future goes, as a Cronenberg fan whose seen all but one of his films, I enjoyed it a ton because it felt like a bridge between his earlier work that he's more known for, and his most recent stuff stylistically like metropolis and map to the stars, and I found it to be really retrospective of his career by blending the writing of his earlier stuff into the style of his later works, plus that movie made me think a lot and I love movies that spark thoughts and ideas ive never had before a lot more just in general than movies that I can shut my brain off for, that being said I do love pulpy and less think-y movies and shows a ton as well.

i would suggest alien isolation as a videogame. i loved it and it takes roughly 32 hours to get through but has some really nice visuals and a decent story. it takes place in between alien and aliens and follows the daughter of ellen ripley as she sets out to get reassurance and answers and ends up as usual realizing that she is not alone out in space lol. as far as a movie i just watched suspiria and loved it but was extremely confused and want a review on that if possible. thanks!

I am 95% like you when it comes to watching but not playing horror games. I have played several but mostly I watch. The Quarry is great and we burned through it but Until Dawn is absolutely their best imo. My favorite horror game to watch/play is surprisingly Dying Light 1 and 2. We played through number 2 three times in a row for a month. So fun.

A fairly easy one that my husband and I played recently is Little Nightmares. I thought the atmosphere was great and there were only a couple of sequences he had to beat for me lol

I just have to comment on your comment, ‘you can just turn it off’ Thank you so much for saying that!!!! We all have to do what feels right for us and if that means not finishing a simple movie or book or whatever for our mental health then that is what needs to happen. Thank you for making yours & our thoughts valid on this channel.

I saw black phone but at the same time did literally forgot about. I was trying to think of the last movie I went to see which had been less then a week before and it took me a good ten or so minutes to remember it was the black phone.

You should check out Leaving D.C. and Mr. Jones, both lesser-known found footage suoernatural horrors. I'd love to hear your opinion about them!

I just finished Watcher and while, like you said, it wasn't anything I hadn't seen, I really liked the atmosphere. I'm actually romanian and I live in Bucharest, so it was interesting to see a really gritty picture of the city. I think I would've been more immersed if I didn't actually know the language cause I was aware of everything the people were saying, but I think it was a smart choice for the people watching that don't know romanian :)
