I honestly forgot that Mest showed up in this arc. Michelle being an imposter was such a gag to me when I first watched the series. Her character is so interesting after this reveal.

To be fair to Mest and his guilt over Wendy it is entirely understandable why he blames himself so much and thinks of her a lot after her “death”. He asked Wendy to be his teammate since he was using memory manipulation to make people think he was mystogan’s apprentice, and her healing magic could help him further his spy goals. If he hadn’t done that and chosen someone else instead then Wendy wouldn’t have “died” at tenrou island.

Okay, so to clarify what the situation with Eirigor is; most of the Neo Orachion Seis sacrificed a part of themselves. Eirigor gave up his memories. Like he can't remember anything after an hour or something. Cobra gave up his eye, Angel sacrifices some of her lifeforce/lifespan each time she summons an angel, and Racer gave up his humanity. Midnight's, you'll learn later. The Michelle situation will be explained soon enough. And it'll be extra sad.

Don't worry Mest isn't in love with Wendy. It's more of a older brother looking out for a younger sibling type of affection and he failed to keep her safe. Although there were people who did ship them😅

mest is canonically into little girls (including wendy). it’s shown multiple times within canon and filler. anime and manga. i used to be a big mest fan but even mashima himself said mest was a “lolicon”

I also love Juvia and Gajeel's friendship. They have always been good friends, even when they were on Phantom Lord. This is showed by the fact she was concerned about him after Phantom Lord disbanded and asked Makarov if he could join Fairy Tail.

Mest has more hair now. Before he had a buzz cut and was clean-shaven. Much of Mest's feelings towards Wendy are guilt over effectively killing her. Everyone else would have been on that island regardless of his actions but Wendy was the one he picked as his partner. She would have been back at the guild hall when Acnologia showed up if not for him. Yes, she's alive but for the past seven years he's had no reason to believe that.

I always thought that Mest and Wendy's relationship was like a failed guardian and child that trusted said guardian relationship. Or like someone else said Older brother lost his little sister relationship? He blames himself for a child's death that he could prevented. I'm an anime only fan so I refuse to believe he has romantic feelings for a child. He always seemed weird but in a cool uncle kind of way? Wait..

I absolutely HATE how Mest’s relationship with Wendy was written; which sucks because I think he actually has one of the most compelling storylines in the series!

To be fair to mest he never had an obsession with Wendy until after tenrou the only read he was even with her in the trials was because she was the one least likely to to realize that he isn't part of the guild.band then he started to befriend even if it was fake it's also because she's the only one he spoke to in the guild for more than two words to coupled with the fact she is very innocent and the fact he left her too die. His character is kinda built around the fact he let this little girl die. I think Mashima really did try to make it seem like he's got a guardian complex but he puts Mest in scenes that don't show it well

I never thought Mest's affection for Wendy creepy yeah in their first interaction he was weird but he was weird in general not to Wendy spesifically also him in this episode kinda felt right too since he thinks he abondened a child to death and there is nothing creepy going on between them later too as far as i remember?

I don’t think it was affection Doranbolt had for Wendy, it was guilt because he took advantage of Wendy’s trust, got her involved in the trial for the sake of his mission, and just abandoned her to die with the other members of Fairy Tail. If he hadn’t chosen Wendy to be his partner, she would’ve been 7 years older like the other members who got left behind.

Why are you still harping on Mest, first of all he was never obsessed with Wendy that way you're the one that put your head in the gutter on that note😂 But apparently male characters can't be just indebted to a female character in anime. There's always gonna be someone jumping to conclusions and that just happens to be you right now I am so glad I did not judge all these things this much when I first watched. It was all so sweet and that's all. In anime all things are fine.

Mest is weird bro I dunno why people still argue about it in 2024. Mashima himself said Mest is weird about Wendy and has openly talked about some regret he had about having that as a character trait in the first place.
