I loved Black Sun so much! That ending has me really anticipating the sequel. What a cliffhanger! The Liveship Traders is one of my favorite trilogies of the Realm of the Elderlings. It does open in a really odd way; I remember being taken aback when I first started it. I love the way all of the trilogies connect and flesh out the world. I think Hobb’s character work is probably some of the best that I’ve ever read! I assume Kyle is the one you hate... she’s so good at making us hate characters. 😂

Yeah, I'm really anticipating the sequel to black sun too! I usually hate cliffhangers but not that one! And yes, Kyle is the one I hate. I also found Malta insufferable by the end LOL

Black Sun was so good but I agree about the ending, I am hype for book 2 whenever it comes out though! Awe Fireborne is so good too and I love that you decided to read it for Elliot's birthday

I knew when I saw "possible new favorites" in the title and fireborne on the thumbnail that it was going to be one of the new favourites. I hope you loved where it went in the second half. I just did a reread in prep for the second book coming out. Wish I could join the liveship traders buddy read but don't think I have time for them at the moment, darn!

I also just started the Ship of Magic on audio and I totally agree with you about the narrator! I've recently listened to some books that had really fantastic narrators so it's quite a contrast. But the story itself is very interesting to begin with and I can't wait to see where it goes.

Oh yes, so glad I'm not the only one who thought the narrator of ship of magic wasn't great LOL. I'm still listening to it though haha, so I guess she isn't the worst I've heard. I've listened to a lot of great narrators before so I can be a bit picky sometimes. Oh yes, I'm reading Shadow of What Was Lost in April! It's the Shelf Space book club pick for April and I'm co-hosting that month. That's on Jessie Mae's channel if you haven't heard of the book club before, its a fun book club! That book has been on my radar forever and I'm excited to finally pick it up!

Yay! I’ve wanted to read it forever, I’ve seen it recommended for fans of Wheel of Time so I’m super curious. I’m actually reading it for the Shelf Space Book club for April! I’m actually cohosting that month - super excited for it!

The ending of Black Sun threw me a bit but was still a low 4 star for me. I really liked the pacing up till the ending and didn’t feel like I got enough pay off but I could see that easily being fixed with the sequel (which she has finished the first draft I think!) I had pretty much the same experience in Ship of Magic. I hated that one character SO much One of these days I need to pick up Fireborne

Omg yes that character is THE WORST, I constantly want to strangle him 😂😂 I think you would like fireborne?? But it’s one of those books I love so much that I think everyone e will like it (even though that’s probably not true 😂)

I've been wanting to read Robin Hobb for so long but it's so intimidating because there are so many series within the Realm of the Elderlings. There was a readalong for Farseer in 2020 and I wanted to join, but still never picked up the first book. 🤦🏽‍♀️ Fireborne is also on my list but there's always so many other books I also want to get to!

It's intimidating because there are so many books, but at least they are split up into smaller/shorter series (unlike the wheel of time LOL). I loved Farseer soooo much! It's definitely different from what I've read in Ship of Magic so far, but I'm liking it as well. Haha yes, I'm always drowning in books i WANT to read without enough time to read them all 😭 it makes me sad often lol.

Jade, great Vlog, as usual. I still need to finish Burial Rites. Enjoying it, but have set it aside...once I found out that it was about the last woman executed in Iceland. I am SO invested in her, that I was hoping (against hope) that the priest or someone, would come to save her. So, knowing that her fate is sealed...I have put it down...to let her live...a little longer, if only in my mind. Sorry, I do thay to books, when I get really attached to characters. I am so happy that you are enjoying Ship of Magic. I read that series last year, or the year before. I wasn't as taken by it, as the Farseer Trilogy. I know tha character that you hate...yeah despicable is the kindest I could say about that one. I hope you enjoy overall story better than I did. I picked up Fireborn because of your love fore it. Not sure when I'll get to it, though. I REALLY loved The Wild in the Whale. I understand why some don't, but it really worked for me. Again, great Vlog. Talk to you, later.

Yeah, definitely has some dark stuff in it... Lots of interesting ideas! Just didn't hit in exactly the right places for me personally in the end

I didn't care for the narrator for the Ship of Magic audiobook either. She was monotone and put me to sleep more often than not. lol

Yes so monotone!! I’m pushing through it though lol. Otherwise I don’t think I’ll be able to finish it in March like I want! She’s Tolerable I guess 🤷🏻‍♀️
