1st step may 2021- understand pronunciation right in the beginning, hard to fix afterwards 2nd step- may 2021- grammar, used Annie Hemingway's "Complete French Grammar" book + youtube videos 3rd step- may 2021- 3 minute french udemy course by Kieran Ball. He has ~eight other courses, she bought most of them. 4th step- june 2021- realised not moving in right direction, found Loredane Nolent on italki- intensive grammar classes, 5 classes per week, she pushed her, gave her homework. Lasted 2-3 months. 5th step- sept 2021- took speaking classes with another italki teacher (Feriel) so she could speak properly. 2 classes per week. 6th step- sept 2021- She decided to follow Edito to track performance 7th step- sept 2021- she watched YT channels to practice listening. 8th step- Dec 2021- after ~6 months of the above, she started doing TEF Canada specific preparation (Mock Tests on Prep My Future and TEF Academy). Got an Italki teacher to check her written essays 9th step- Jan 2021- did TEF Canada exam (first attempt). Got B2+ in speaking, reading. C1 Listening. Writing didnt do too well. Knew she needed to focus her energy there next time. 10th step- did more writing classes with Feriel (speaking + writing). Initially studied 4-5 h a day, later 8-10 h a day. Tips: - be consistent. MUST do sth on regular basis. - find someone to guide you through (ideally teacher well-versed with TEF exam structure) - dont let failure stop you

My query is; that I have CRS of 475 with Express entry profile but looking to boost my score around 500 by giving TEF exam. I have learnt till A2-level; in that case how many points one can score in TEF at A2 stage or to what level do I need to learn to get only 20-25 extra CRS points? Merci d'avance!
@tanusharma01
@tanusharma01 11 ай бұрын
Hey, thank you! Your score is already really good but yes French can give you a last push to get closer to ITA, looking at the CRS cut-off these days. In French, B2 can give you ~10 points and if you score B2+ in all sections you will get 12 points (3 points in each section) + 50 bonus points. So 62 points in total.

Hi mam. I am also preparing for TEF. Do we need to study EDITO B2 ? Many teachers recommend that Édito upto B1 is sufficient. Kindly guide for preparing for reading section. Thanks
@tanusharma01
@tanusharma01 Жыл бұрын
Hey! In my opinion it is fine to study upto EDITO B1 and then when you do exam specific preparation, you’ll anyway expand your vocabulary and verbs in French. Having said that there is no harm to do only exercises part in EDITO B2 and C1, if you want. Soon, will share more videos on other sections apart from speaking!!

Quick Question - I am currently in Canada and my CRS score is 501, I just want to give TEF exam to get some bonus points, I am not aiming for the 50 points, I just want around 5 - 10 extra points to further boost my score. How much time do you think I need to achieve my goal. I have CLB 10 in IELTS but I need to start French from scratch. Thank you so much for your informative video, it was really helpful.
@tanusharma01

You’re already sitting at an impressive score! You’ll need B1/B2 to get upto 10 points in TEF. Timeline is very subjective and depends on the time spent on the language, study material, etc. You can start with 6-8 months target.. spend first 5-6 months to immerse yourself in the language and then slowly start attempting the mock tests. All the best!

Thank you! 4-5 hrs of daily effort is required and then a few months before the exam 7-8 hrs of effort would be required. This is how much effort I had to put in to clear the exam within a year but everyone is different so see what works for you.

Hi Tanu, I have 1 immigration-related question. I did the TCF test and got the result in PDF. I also applied for PR and submitted that same PDF I received from the center. The Center said they do not issue hard copies but the immigration officer requested the original. I'd be grateful if you could advise on it. Also, do you need to sign the test result? Please let me know.
@tanusharma01
@tanusharma01 4 ай бұрын
Results for both, TEF and TCF are received via email and are accepted for immigration application. In case they’ve a concern, it would be good to get it stamped by the exam centre and self attest is as well.
