Any trade the Cardinals make should made for ONE or TWO reasons... ONE WIN A WORLD SERIES NOT make the playoffs. TWO to rebuild the farm system and if you make the playoffs great if not oh well. If you're going for the WORLD SERIES then you GO ALL IN. But how do you SAVE your farm system while going for the WORLD SERIES... YOU SIGN TREVOR BAURER he'd be your ACE day one in St Louis. That move would free you up to go ALL IN for an ELITE outfielder. You make the move for Trevor gives you a real ONE TWO with Bauer and Gray, then get back Tommy plus add an ELITE outfielder you have a CHANCE to win the entire thing. As for the bullpen i would seek any help... Bauer replaces a starter they go into the bullpen. In the playoffs you only use FOUR starters anyway which then moves yet ANOTHER starter into the bullpen. GO ALL IN WITH AN ELITE OUTFIELDER... why NOT GO FOR TROUT! Roll the dice. Sign Bauer and then MAYBE you could win the World Series.

I see comments where people are saying Nolan and Goldy don't look happy, i suggest splitting them up not trading the both of them. I would keep the overall better player which is Arenado. Arenado needs another wingman just mix it up for a change and good luck to you Goldy go get yourself right with another team.

Agree until recently they did not look happy nor did anyone else. There was an obvious change in the approach to hitting that directly correlates to them winning. Most went away from swinging from their heels to making contact and driving the ball. Homers will come we get nothing out of strikeouts. Someone needs to get contact hitting through Gormans head or his career will be short lived nobody can survive striking out 150 times.

It’s laughable to think those three Chicago players put us up there with Philly and the Dodgers. They have a combined 3.5 WAR and 3.2 of that comes from Crochet. Have you looked at these other lineups? I can’t tell whether this is just an inflammatory statement to get a rise; if so it’s working lol. The Cardinals can’t score runs and Andrew thinks adding a player with a .2 WAR puts us on par with a team where half the lineup is perennial MVP candidates. Absolutely absurd.

Keep all our pieces, get two bullpen arms for minor prospects, and try to pull a Monty type trade. Call JWalk back up and hope he has a hot bat, and hope all our bats come alive. Anything can happen in the playoffs, but I still think we take the division at the end of the season.

You should be able to be buyers and sellers in trade deals at the same time. If you trade Arenado to LA for a stud young pitcher, is that buying or selling? You get what you need and unload salary to be used somewhere else.

Hey JD; let’s not forget the importance Goldy brings to the defense by the errors he saves on bad throws. Let’s not forget the importance of having two cornerstone players who still can play and bring stability to a young clubhouse. The Cards have a wealth of outfielders where they can trade from that surplus to add a #5 starter and or a RH bat. In other words, there are no block buster trades coming if the Cards are buyers at the deadline. Now if they become sellers I could see the Cards trading Arenado and/or Goldy for some hot prospects who are ready to soon arrive in the Big Leagues. But the FO is probably sighing a big relief that the NL and AL for that matter has a bunch of mediocre teams. The mediocrity of the league takes a lot of the pressure off the FO so long as the club stays in the hunt for a WC spot. So IMO it does not make sense to trade Arenado and Goldschmidt! Sometimes the cows on the other side of the fence look a lot better than yours from afar. Let’s not get hasty and do something just for the sake of doing something! That’s just not very smart!

I think I read somewhere today or Monday 7-9-24 that Mo is adding a bat and not a number two type starter just behind Sonny Grey, just ahead of Kyle Gibson, Something like that.. Don't get me wrong, I like K. Gibson but I think you know what I mean..If the Cardinals had a one two punch 👊 in the rotation instead of a bat, maybe Mo thinks it will cost too much.. He could improvise..That one two punch in the rotation will leave just the type of gapping hole that we will soon see..I hope I'm wrong, SERIOUSLY!!! Cardinals might get Fedde and they should pursue him he's another Gibson type starter solid, but not great. They are not getting the Crochet or Roberts package they don't have enough prospects for that package. Not to mention all the other teams out there that have the same needs as the Cardinals. This is why Mo should've done more over the off season. I would trade just about any prospect for a just a solid everyday player. Tink would be off the table in this scenario.

I believe Chris Taylor and Max Muncy woud be better for Arenado. But i think Goldy could easily get Chris Taylor so why trade Arenado?? I think trading Goldy for etheir Taylor or Muncy would be a better wingman for Arenado to overcome his struggles.

You're not getting major league talent back for Goldy due to the fact that the teams that want him are in contention and are looking to add to the roster to and not take away at the same time, it will be prospects and they might be decent if the right teams are involved

I understand and absolutely agree but teams in contention don't want to weaken their team by gaining another ,they would much rather deal their future instead of the present which really plays out much better for the seller because you could potentially get more in return.the only teams that are going to give up top prospects for a star first baseman on an expiring contract are teams trying to win this year ,they don't care about next year right now, so that leaves the suitors at just a few teams ,first being the Yankees because of Rizzos injury, and the yanks have the prospects, after that probably Seattle, those are the big two the birds will be dealing with maybe a dark horse team , the cards might do the trade regardless even if they are buyers because they aren't likely to sign goldy to an extension. But anyway I wasn't attempting to diminish his value , but you have to look at it from the other point of view,when your in first or at the top of contending you want to strengthen that team as much as possible you don't want to take away anything from current roster, with one exception if say a contending team has a star player with expiring contract they may swap stars because for example say the mariners have a star pitcher on last year and they are rich in pitching but need a bat and the cards are thin in pitching but have bats to replace then you see a roster for roster trade

I only said example.but I also will say that getting Contreras and Edmans back will feel like we traded for a bat and that the number 1 need is another starter immediately, with Matz out theyve had to scramble with not so good replacements and another starter goes down, we are in trouble.i know it feels like we need a bat but this team was supposed to be upper tier offensively and they have under performed, but lately clutch hitting is coming on , I think they have to go with what they got,the temperatures get warmer these guys seem to start hitting. Pitching Pitching Pitching always wins out and they have over achieved but they are living on the edge ,one rotation guy away of being in trouble ,if a starter is put there,especially a top of the rotation, they need to do what it takes to get him, if that's trading your top prospects so be it and that includes walker,he's not up helping this club right now but sometimes you gotta take a chance
